Mother´s ´baby´ portraits of
13-year-old son go viral
on Facebook

Los Angeles Times, by Andrea Chang

Original Article

Birth announcements tend to contain some of the most cliche images around: sleeping babies swaddled in soft blankets, propped up in flowerpots, kissed gently atop their foreheads. In other words, we´ve seen it all, and usually it´s not very good. Or have we? A series of "baby" portraits taken by Kelli Higgins of her adopted son Latrell, 13, has gone viral since the professional photographer posted the images on Facebook. In one image, a shirtless Latrell is wrapped in a white blanket with his eyes closed. In another, he faces the camera with his chin cupped between his hands.

Clearly and certainly child abuse.

I swear that if I had done that to my son, there would be a point in my life that he would make sure I would deeply regret it.

All I can say is that the people on Facebook who think these photos are anything worth sharing must be very low intelligence indeed. It´s something any parent and child could do. This lofo happened to think of it first, perhaps, but I think it´s just stupid.

For the second time in a week, President Obama is welcoming a bevy of Hollywood stars to the White House. The president on Tuesday night held a private screening of the new film “The Monuments Men,” based on the true World War II story of a special force commissioned to locate and save valuable pieces of art before they were destroyed by the Nazis. George Clooney, Bill Murray and Matt Damon, three of the film’s stars, attended. Grant Heslov, co-producer of the movie who also co-wrote its screenplay with Mr. Clooney, also accepted the administration’s invitation. Other attendees included Robert Edsel, author

Does Obama really think that raising federal employees´ meager salaries from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour will change their lives? He is doing nothing for them and masquerading like the queen of generosity. Most federal employees earn far above the minimum wage. They are given excessive benefits. But what good will another $2.85 per hour do for those at minimum wage? Will it buy them Lamborghinis or pay for private planes to Paris? Whom is Obama kidding? There is no equality. Everyone can´t have the same. We can´t all live in the White House and fly around in Air Force One.

The Chino Democrat will leave Washington after just one term and run instead for a seat on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, opening the door to others of her party, who might not have challenged her. Those could include the congressman she defeated in 2012, Joe Baca. Because of that, her choice also has the potential to shake up the field in the race for a

WASHINGTON— Boosting the federal minimum wage as President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are proposing would increase earnings for more than 16.5 million people by 2016 but also cut employment by roughly 500,000 jobs, Congress´ nonpartisan budget analyst said Tuesday. In a report containing ammunition for both supporters and opponents of the Democratic election-year proposal, the Congressional Budget Office said gradually raising the minimum from $7.25 hourly to $10.10 would lift 900,000 people above the federal poverty level by 2016. That is out of 45 million who would otherwise live in poverty without an increase. But the analysis also noted

There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,

The weirdest thing about John Kerry´s weekend speech on climate-change—other than the fact that this is the same guy who in 1997 voted to forbid the U.S. from signing the Kyoto Protocol—is that it begins by quoting something Maurice Strong said at the U.N.´s 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "Every bit of evidence I´ve seen persuades me that we are on a course leading to tragedy."
