Drone privacy scare: Feds don’t

As lawmakers and the public grow more concerned about drones and their implications for personal privacy, no one seems to know who in the federal government is responsible for tackling the issue. “At best, we can say it’s unknown at this point,” said Gerald Dillingham, the director of civil aviation issues at the Government Accountability Office. (Snip) In testimony to a House subcommittee on Friday morning, Mr. Dillingham was asked which government office, department or agency will have jurisdiction over unmanned aerial systems with respect to Fourth Amendment concerns. While the Federal Aviation Administration has promised to look into

Comments:
Well that should make us feel even better! s/o What else would you expect from our incompetent, corrupt government. This is terribly unsettling, especially when we have someone like 0bama in power. I just finished Full Black by Brad Thor and even though it was fiction it is based on facts about bringing down this country. It has a Soros like character in it. It´s terrifying what´s going on in our country.

Since we are supposed to be a government of and by the people, maybe the people should exercise some oversight and demand our representatives do something about drone privacy.

Pelosi Deserves Her

It´s true that Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi deserves Planned Parenthood´s Margaret Sanger Award - almost no one has done more to promote the killing of innocent babies in the womb than she has. If Mrs. Pelosi wants finally to take her role as a public servant seriously, though, she will reject the award named after a racist woman who had no problem speaking to a Ku Klux Klan meeting. The Sanger Award has been given annually by Planned Parenthood since 1966, when the Rev. Dr. Luther King, Jr., my uncle, was named, but did not personally accept one of the first four citations. It´s

Michelle Obama Pitches Student

"Almost everyone is eligible for some form of financial aid, and all you have to do to access that aid is fill out this one little form. It´s so simple," First lady Michelle Obama told students at a suburban Washington high school on Wednesday. The form is FAFSA -- the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. "[T]hrough FAFSA, the Department of Education provides more than $150 billion every year in low-interest loans, in grants that you don´t have to pay back, and work-study programs that can help cover your educational expenses," Mrs. Obama said. She equated higher education with freedom:

At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, President Barack Obama said that “killing the innocent” is the “ultimate betrayal of God’s will.” But the president was talking about terrorism, not abortion: “Extremists succumb to an ignorant nihilism that shows they don’t understand the faiths they claim to profess, for killing the innocent is never fulfilling God’s will. In fact, it is the ultimate betrayal of God’s will,” Obama said. Yet Obama is a long-time supporter of abortion rights.

The Obama administration is considering an extension of the president´s decision to let people keep their individual insurance policies even if they are not compliant with the health care overhaul, according to two top industry officials. Avalere Health CEO Dan Mendelson said Thursday that the administration may let policyholders keep that coverage for an additional three years, stressing that no decision has been made. Policymakers are waiting to see what rate hikes health insurers plan for the insurance exchanges that are key to the overhaul´s coverage expansions. In an abrupt switch from his months of work to bring immigration reform back from life support, Speaker John Boehner told reporters today that the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written. “There´s widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. And it´s going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes,” Boehner said. The change in tack comes after rank-and-file members pushed hard against action on the issue this year when immigration “principles” when unveiled at a retreat last week

Some conservatives suspected immigration reform was a subtext of the Coca Cola Super Bowl ad that featured children singing "America the Beautiful" in foreign languages. But now liberal Fox News host Geraldo Rivera is connecting the two ideas. Geraldo told host Sean Hannity the reason immigration reform legislation proposed by Democrats in Congress has not become law is because of political opposition from the same people who found the ad offensive. "This hostile reaction to this [Coca Cola Super Bowl] ad," he told Hannity, "shows how deep seated the xenophobia is ... the fear of the other... that´s why we

Three years after the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry -- a tragedy which exposed and ultimately ended Operation Fast and Furious -- the public is finally getting a glimpse into Terry´s final moments. Federal court records released Tuesday provide the first official account of the firefight along the Arizona-Mexico border that killed Terry in December 2010. Among other details, they reveal two of four federal agents at the scene that day actually fired bean bags -- not bullets -- at a violent drug gang carrying assault rifles. Weapons from the botched anti-gun trafficking program were found at Terry´s

As a little girl, I remember the excitement surrounding this appearance; in fact, my parents let my five brothers and sisters and me stay up “late” to watch the show. Coming from a big family, I used those older than me as sounding boards and the verdict was in: my older female cousins were originally unimpressed by the Fab Four, preferring instead to continue to imitate the dance steps and hairstyles of girl groups

The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing. (SNIP) The new law will free people, young and old, to pursue careers or retirement without having to worry about health coverage.

The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, became law almost four years ago. It became operational last Oct. 1. Yesterday, Feb. 4, 2014, the ACA may well have been dealt its death blow. The Congressional Budget Office released a major study of the government’s budget and its effect on the overall economy over the next 10 years. In dull bureaucratic language, it delivers a devastating analysis of the inefficiencies, ineffectualities and problematic social costs of ObamaCare. The one-two punch: Virtually as many Americans will lack health coverage in 10 years as before the law was passed — but 2 million fewer

House committees are still digging into the IRS political targeting scandal, and based on a hearing Wednesday there´s more to learn. The day produced more evidence blowing apart President Obama´s claims that there was "not even a smidgen of corruption" or political motivation in the IRS handling of groups applying for tax-exempt status. Mr. Obama wants Americans to believe that the targeting resulted from the confusing tax law governing nonprofits, which he says was "difficult" to interpret and resulted in mere "bureaucratic" mistakes. This is also the Administration´s justification for issuing new regulations governing
