| President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have fiercely defended the nomination of Chuck Hagel, despite advisers and Hill Democrats who questioned the move and predicted a firestorm, according to Democratic sources. That opinion was validated, at least for the moment, by events Thursday as Senate Republicans narrowly blocked cloture on Hagel’s nomination. Obama immediately slammed the filibuster — which could be broken after a 10-day congressional recess. My guess is the filibuster won´t hold up after the break and that the Republicans will fold as usual. Both parties are involved with the destruction of the country just a different speeds. The destruction of the military continues first gays, then women in combat now Hagel.

Hagel is not up to the job of Defense Secretary, He does not have the experience of running a large business. He is anti Israel, which may fit with 0bama, but not with most Americans. Besides, why make more work for the Mossad.

For Hagel to be willing to endure this incredible amount of opposition is simply amazing. He must be a man with zero amount of personal pride. If all your former party colleagues opposed you would you want to persist or go and cut your wrists in humiliation? The man is completely devoid of personal pride. The Hagel kabuki is a good reminder that The Republican Party, despite 10 years and hundreds of billions wasted in the fly blown wastelands of Iraq and Afghanistan, remains absolutely intolerant of any views on foreign policy not to the Right of Likud. Also, it must be very gratifying for Dear Leader to see Rebulicans hurling slurs and insults at one of their own, and a decorated hero to boot. What better way to paint your opposition as extremist and obstructionist? And this is all happening before the crucial debates on amnesty, gun grabbing, carbon taxes, and the budget deficit. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.
