President´s visit anything but welcome for the Rahmfather

| The big guy is coming to Chicago, and that can´t be good for the not-as-big guy on the fifth floor of Chicago´s City Hall. In politics, stuff rolls downhill. The big guy on Pennsylvania Avenue doesn´t want stuff on his shoes, and neither does the not-as-big guy on LaSalle Street. What´s rolling downhill now is the aftermath of the slaying of Hadiya Pendleton, the 15-year-old innocent shot to death a mile from Obama´s Chicago home in Kenwood. In the short term, the politics have indeed been masterful.(Snip) Yet it is the street crimes happening right now that plague

OT, but I think Mooch should not show favoritism and attend every funeral of every young black gunned down in Chicago. She wouldn´t have time to stick her nose in everyone else´s business.

So I guess the question before us today is...does this mean the good citizens of Chi-Town/Cicero are about to witness a rerun of the old Alphonse Capone/Frank Nitti versus "Bugs" Moran/"Gimpy" O´Banion turf wars of "The Roaring Twenties"? Stay tuned. Don´t touch that dial!

Truth be told, Dr. Ben Carson is the best one to have the conversation about the importance of education and self reliance, not Obama.
Another thought, perhaps if Rahman hadn´t taken Newark´s police director off Cory Bookers hands as a favor to Oprah´s friend, they might have someone more capable of doing the job. As usual, politics trumps real life needs.

According to the writer, innocent, is the key word when it comes to the murder rate.
Hadiya was innocent. The hundreds of other murders were of less import because the victims weren´t innocent?

A woman who worked at a Philadelphia abortion clinic has testified how she was handed a glass pan carrying a screaming newborn with no eyes or mouth and told to deal with it. Sherry West, who is a witness in the murder trial against her former boss Dr. Kermit Gosnell, said that when the tiny ´specimen´ screamed ´it sounded like a little alien´. West is testifying in the case under a deal with prosecutors after she pleaded guilty to third-degree murder involving the death of a 41-year-old woman at the clinic. North Korea poses a “clear and direct threat” to the United States, the chief of the U.S. Pacific Command told a Senate panel Tuesday. Pacific commander Adm. Samuel Locklear said Pyongyang’s nuclear and ballistic missile tests are a threat to U.S. national security and regional peace and stability. He noted that North Korea is keeping a significant percentage of combat forces in the demilitarized zone, and said the United States and South Korean forces are "ready today" to respond should the Kim Jong Un regime stage an attack. Senators pressed Locklear to elaborate on how the U.S. military

WASHINGTON —A liberal grassroots organization is running ads featuring the face of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz as it urges Americans to tell their senators to support universal background checks for gun buyers. Organizing for Action — President Barack Obama’s re-election-campaign-turned-nonprofit — started running its online ads on Facebook and in search engines today. More than nine out of 10 Americans support universal background checks, according to a recent poll by Quinnipac University. The ads come as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., looks to move a gun-control bill to the Senate floor for a vote.

But as is often the case here on the Peninsula, my break was interrupted by important developments and urgent issues, so my week off turned into just one day," writes Kim. LONDON -- The funeral of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s longest-serving leader of the 20th century, will be held in St. Paul’s Cathedral on April 17, officials said Tuesday. Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, are expected to attend what will be the most elaborate funeral to be staged in London since the death of the queen’s mother in 2002. It will be the first funeral of a prime minister that the queen will have attended since Winston Churchill’s in 1965. Thatcher, who died Monday at age 87 after years of declining health,

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea on Tuesday urged all foreign companies and tourists in South Korea to evacuate, saying the two countries are on the verge of nuclear war. The new threat appeared to be an attempt to keep the region on tenterhooks over its intentions. Analysts see a direct attack on Seoul as extremely unlikely, and there are no overt signs that North Korea´s 1.2 million-man army is readying for war, let alone a nuclear one. South Korea´s military has reported missile movements on North Korea´s east coast but nothing pointed toward South Korea.

Stopping through Connecticut for the first time since a mentally ill gunman slaughtered 20 first-graders and six educators at a Newtown elementary school in December, President Obama on Monday delivered an impassioned speech, rallying those affected by gun violence to "expect more" from Congress and to urge lawmakers to move this week on legislation. "The day Newtown happened was the toughest day of my presidency," Mr. Obama told the crowd at the University of Hartford, where family members of the massacre´s victims sat. "But I´ve got to tell you, if we don´t respond to this,

Since when has it been considered smart to tell your enemies what your plans are? Yet there on the front page of the April 8th New York Times was a story about how unnamed "American officials" were planning a "proportional" response to any North Korean attack. This was spelled in an example: If the North Koreans "shell a South Korean island that had military installations" then the South Koreans would retaliate with "a barrage of artillery of similar intensity." Whatever the merits or demerits of such a plan, what conceivable purpose can be served by telling the North Koreans

With nearly a third - and possibly more - of his caucus ready to filibuster the gun control bill in the Senate, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell bowed to the inevitable and announced he would oppose any cloture vote on the legislation. Politico: "While nobody knows yet what Senator Reid´s plan is for the gun bill, if he chooses to file cloture on the motion to proceed to the Reid Bill (S. 649), Senator McConnell will oppose cloture on proceeding to that bill," McConnell spokesman John Ashbrook said in a statement. Hours after the Lockerbie atrocity, Mrs Thatcher was wading through the carnage wrought by terrorists over a small Scottish town, paying her condolences to the bereaved. It had been a long and harrowing day, but when she arrived back in London late that night she still found time to phone me at home. Her voice was anxious, kind. She asked: ‘How is Ray, dear?’ The day before, my husband had suffered a serious accident and Mrs Thatcher had been characteristically solicitous, offering her car to run me home.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.
