Mali slavery problem
persists after French invasion

USA Today, by Clare Morgana Gillis

Toya, Mali - The insurgents who have fled from invading French troops in Mali have been taking with them some of their most important possessions — slaves. The Tuareg tribes that overran Mali´s military with the help of Arab extremist groups aligned with al-Qaeda have long held slaves and many of the captives are from families that have been enslaved for generations. (Snip) Some Tuaregs took advantage of their newly won control to reclaim freed or runaway slaves, mostly black Africans. The French military arrived in January and retook Timbuktu from the Tuaregs,

Comments:
I don´t remember PIAPS ever mentioning slavery in Mali, let alone that they are mostly black. Of course, Django 0bama only seeks to "free" successful white capitalist from their money.

My guess is the slaves are also human shields providing double duty. I probably missed Sheila Jackson Lee´s condemnation of islamic controlled slavery over there.

Does anybody in this audience wake up every day figuring out ways to oppress black peopl eand other minorities? Personally I don´t give it 2 seconds of thoughts, since i have enough problems to deal with. Yet the left insists here´s a massive effort to keep blacks down in this country despite the fact they oppress themselves more than anybody as we see who really runs the slave trade now and back in the pre civil war days.

The Tuareg have had black African slaves for a very long time and still do. I have never see the chattering classes (and I am talking to you Maxine Robinson and Shelia Jackson Lee) condemn this ever.

Slavers and slaveholders should be executed.

It´s time for the Islamic countries to be conquered, and put under hard nosed unsympathetic governors. Islamic people should not be allowed out of their countries, and should do business through neutral embassies like Switzerland.

This country was founded refusing to allow Islamics in the country for precisely the reasons we now read about everyday in the papers. I can remember as a boy once thinking about the Muslims and at nine years of age asking myself, "I wonder why they want to kill me?" Now, I realize it is simply because they want our stuff. Nothing more.

Maybe we can extend that program that pays $50,000 (no questions asked; no proof necessary) to US blacks who claim to have been denied farm loans to Mali.

Islam is a synonym for slavery. That is ALL it is; a system where some: women, people blacker than you, conquered or over-run nations (think Norway, Holland, Dearborn) are to be dominated and treated disdainfully, brutally, and if desired, with slaughter. We need to send Sheila J-L on a fact-finding junket to the Tuareg tribes.

Iraq Shuts Down the Abu Ghraib

New York Times, by Duraid Adnan & Tim Arango    Original Article

Baghdad - The Iraqi government said Tuesday that it had closed the Abu Ghraib prison, the site of a notorious prisoner abuse scandal during the American occupation of Iraq, because of fears that it could be overrun by Sunni insurgents who have gained strength over the last year. In a statement, the Justice Ministry said it had moved 2,400 prisoners to other high-security prisons in central and northern Iraq, adding that Abu Ghraib’s location — west of central Baghdad and on the edge of insurgent-controlled areas of Anbar Province — had become a “hot zone.” It was not clear whether the closing was permanent, or if the prison might reopen

Did GM Reject Safer Ignition Switch

NBC News, by Rich Gardella & Talesha Reynolds    Original Article

Newly released internal GM documents reveal that the company in 2001 considered -- and rejected – an ignition switch design that two prominent safety advocates say could have avoided the problem that led the automaker to recall millions of vehicles this year. The company’s decision to reject the safer switch was motivated by cost, the advocates say. They say GM documents show that design was the same one GM quietly began providing years later, in 2006, as a replacement part, and is now beginning to add to all recalled vehicles. An Arizona mother will avoid jail time after she got high and drove nearly 12 miles with her 2-month-old baby on the roof of her car. Maricopa County Superior Judge Cynthia Bailey sentenced 21-year-old Catalina Mariah Clouser on Wednesday to 16 years of supervised probation. She will have to serve 3 months in jail only if she violates the order, a local CBS affiliate reported. Miss Clouser pleaded guilty in February to child abuse and driving under the influence of marijuana after her infant son was found miraculously unhurt in the middle of a Phoenix highway in June 2012, still strapped into his car seat, Reuters reported.

Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City, said it’s his work for more gun control — along with his anti-smoking and healthy eating campaigns — that have won him God’s favor and a sure spot behind the Pearly Gates. His exact words, made in context of discussing his smoking cessation and anti-obesity pushes, as well as his concerted crackdowns on private gun ownership, to the New York Times were: “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

Sheriff Joe has a new mission. President Obama on Wednesday tasked Vice President Joseph R. Biden with leading a new $600 million White House job training program. The duo will officially announce the initiative during a speech in Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon. It’s not uncommon for Mr. Obama to delegate specific programs to his vice president. In 2009, for example, the president dubbed Mr. Biden the “sheriff” of his stimulus package. The program announced Wednesday will funnel nearly $500 million into a Labor Department “job-training competition,” through which partnerships of community colleges, employers and industry can

Washington - A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld the Environmental Protection Agency’s emission standards for hazardous air pollutants from coal- and oil-fired power plants. In its ruling, the court rejected state and industry challenges to rules designed to clean up mercury, lead, arsenic and other dangerous air pollutants. The new regulations were designed to remove toxins from the air that contribute to respiratory illnesses, birth defects and developmental problems in children. Some industry groups have criticized the standards, saying the EPA was overstating the benefits. Industry groups argued it would cost billions of

In case you’ve somehow missed this latest round of Internet idiocy, here’s what went down: Sunday night, a Dutch teenager identified only as “Sarah” infamously tweeted a threat at American Airlines. Guantanamo Bay Navy Base, Cuba - A military judge abruptly recessed the first 9/11 trial hearing of the year Monday after defense lawyers accused the FBI in open court of trying to turn a defense team security officer into a secret informant. If true, the lawyers argued, attorney-client confidentiality might be compromised in the case that seeks to put on trial and execute five men accused of orchestrating the Sept. 11 attacks that killed 3,000 people in New York, Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon. At issue, in part, was the publication in January of prison camp musings by the alleged 9/11 mastermind, Khalid Sheik Mohammed,

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
