Missouri Democrat state Rep. Rory Ellinger has put forth H.B. 545, which would ban "assault weapons" and many semi-automatic pistols. It would give owners of said weapons 90 days to either turn them in or get them out of the state. After 90 days, those in possession of such weapons would face class "C" felony charges. The legislation defines an "assault weapon" as a rifle with a detachable magazine and any "one or more of the following: a pistol grip or thumbhole stock... protruding grip that can be held by nontrigger hand, a folding
Comments: Isn´t it stunning that we are seeing this occur in the United States of America. I never thought I would live to see the day.
Ayn Rand wrote it: “Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against – then you’ll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We’re after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you’d better get wise to it. There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now, that’s the system, Mr. Rearden, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”
gun ban...why...here is dont know if true,. Marlin Firearms is closing its doors. A compay named The Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammo mfgrs. the dems wont have to propose gun bans...there wont be any left if this Freedom Group is really buying these business´s
Q: Does George Soros own the company buying many firms that make guns and ammunition? A: No. Contrary to a fanciful claim made in a viral email, the Freedom Group is not linked to the liberal billionaire. The National Rifle Association says the real owners are “strong supporters” of gun rights.
While we argue about Obama´s policies, he may be going under the radar yet again.

may be selling out to Brazilian gun maker Taurus. If true, he will drive these gun and ammo manufacturers overseas. Then guns must be imported to be purchased. Not sure, but wouldn´t he then have a say in that. If people know more, let me know.
The demand for guns and ammo is so huge that anyone who can is doing as much production. Any opening created by a lack of manufacturing is a great opportunity for a new manufacturer. Is it easy? http://www.cncguns.com Unstoppably easy.
This story was in our weekly paper that came out today. "New York based website wants list of Whitley gun owners". Looks like the group that listed names of gun owners has come to Kentucky to try the same thing. Here is the link. http://www.thenewsjournal.net/details/7005/New-York-based-website-wants-list-of-Whitley-gun-owners
These kind of gestures should not be simply dismissed as cranky, unlikely to pass (which they are.) The site (Missouri State) the sponsors are carefully chosen and sent up as a trial balloon. Its like the idea floated by the then Gov of NC that maybe elections should be postponed ´until the economy improves´. The White House then beat a hasty distance from the proposal. These signals should be taken very seriously if you value your freedom.
These weapons are required to be in the possession of the general public by the Constitution, Article 1, Section 8. When you get through there, go read the Preamble to the Bill of Rights, read it 2 or 3 times or until you understand what it is really saying. At that time you let your state reps know in no uncertain terms that if they support any type of gun control or confiscation that they are legitimate targets of a free and independent people.
Another state rat dweeb who pretends the 2nd amendment doesn´t apply to the states. It does. And the USSC even said it did a few years ago - though anyone who read the history of the 14th and the debates and speeches given back when it was proposed could have told you it did.
For those of you who think having your state offer concealed carry licensing - how do you like one of your basic civil rights being infringed by your state, and having the constitution ignored?
Unfortunately, the fall of Rome is a pattern repeated by empires throughout history ... including ours? A group of libertarians gathered in Las Vegas recently for an event called “FreedomFest.” We debated whether America will soon fall, as Rome did. Historian Carl Richard said that today’s America resembles Rome. The Roman Republic had a constitution, but Roman leaders often ignored it. “Marius was elected consul six years in a row, even though under the constitution (he) was term-limited to one year.” Sounds like New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg. “We have presidents of both parties legislating by executive order,
A House committee is set to examine hiring practices at a Department of Energy agency in Oregon that allegedly discriminated against veterans and retaliated against whistle-blowers. The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is holding a Thursday morning hearing regarding allegations of illegal personnel practices at the Bonneville Power Administration, a component of the federal agency that generates roughly one-third of all power used in the Northwest. Bonneville officials, according to a July 16 management alert report by the Department of Energy’s Office of Inspector General, engaged in “prohibited personnel practices”
Newly-installed Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz said Thursday that the threat of a cyber attack shutting down the U.S. electric grid is the biggest worry of the Obama administration, not an electromagnetic pulse like the one the Earth barely avoided two weeks ago. "What I have to say is that the whole set of issues that could disrupt the grid are ones that we do look at. But our biggest focus, not surprisingly, is on cyber security in terms of disruption of the grid," Moniz told Secrets during a media breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
If Congress passes a continuing resolution (CR) that defunds President Obama´s signature health care law, and the president refuses to sign it, any resulting government shutdown will be Obama’s fault, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Tuesday on the Senate floor. "If we pass a budget that pays for everything except for Obamacare, and the President says he´ll veto that, it is he who wants to shut down the government. It is he who is basically saying, ´I will shut down the government unless it pays for Obamacare.´ And that is an unreasonable position.
If the IRS scandal is “phony” as President Obama claims it is, then why is the agency redacting the documents that it is sending to Congress like this? That’s among the questions that Rep. Jim Jordan is asking. Jordan sits on the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating the IRS’ abuse of conservative groups — abuse to which it confessed on May 10. Jordan says that many of the 13,000 pages that the IRS sent the committee look like the ones above. Which are totally blacked out. “How do you get to the truth, when this is the kind
In preparation for the release of Oscar-bait film The Butler, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and director Lee Daniels (Precious) sat down with Parade magazine. The film chronicles a butler (Whitaker) who works in the White House through seven administrations. Winfrey plays the butler’s wife. In the interview, Winfrey explained her sadness that so few Americans know about the history of the civil rights movement: “They don’t know diddly-squat. Diddly-squat.” She then said of the historic use of the n-word, “I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last
Democrats launched the “war on women,” but they didn’t first sweep their side of the battlefield for land mines. Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer and San Diego Mayor Bob Filner have dominated the headlines for their atrocious disrespect and sexual harassment of women. Yet the Democratic leadership is hiding in a foxhole. The Weiner mess keeps getting more repulsive. The Democratic New York City mayor wannabe admits to sending photos of his genitalia and having phone sex with other women as recently as last year. It seems running for public office hasn’t quashed his compulsion. In an interview in
Their home has its own bowling alley, movie theatre, and chef. But while living in the White House could leave Sasha and Malia Obama with a distorted sense of how Americans live, their father says he´s always conveying to his daughters how abnormal their situation really is. "We are constantly reminding Malia and Sasha of the slightly unreal environment that they´re in, and that that´s not the norm and they shouldn´t expect to be the norm," President Barack Obama said in an interview for the Amazon Kindle store. Having relatives who don´t live like the commander-in-chief – and
Despite being under investigation for the intimidation of whistleblowers, President Obama´s nominee for permanent director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms B. Todd Jones has been confirmed by the Senate after five hours of voting Wednesday night. Jones is a U.S. Attorney and has been serving as the acting ATF director since 2011. “The vote today should have never happened. It was totally irresponsible to proceed before the Office of Special Counsel investigation was completed. To top it off, Senator Reid went to extraordinary steps to ensure Mr. Jones’ confirmation by holding
Let´s get this out of the way straight off: The Transportation Security Administration is probably not going to top anyone´s list of Favorite Federal Government Agencies. And the stories of its failures spread faster than a speeding jetliner: TSA officers stealing money from luggage, taking bribes from drug dealers, sleeping on the job. So it shouldn´t come as any surprise that a new Government Accountability Office report, citing a 26% increase in misconduct among TSA employees between 2010 and 2012, is striking a nerve with some travelers who´ve had to endure the shoeless, beltless shuffle
School officials in Florida are defending a textbook that declares Muhammad as the “Messenger of God” after critics accused an Islamic education group of launching a stealth jihad in American public school classrooms. The Prentice World History textbook being used in Brevard Public Schools includes a 36-page chapter on Islam but no chapters on Christianity or Judaism. According to a copy obtained by Fox News, The ninth grade textbook declares that Muhammad is the “Messenger of God” and instructs students that jihad is a duty that Muslims must follow. “Jihad may be interpreted
The Homeland Security Department has lost track of more than 1 million people who it knows arrived in the U.S. but who it cannot prove left the country, according to an audit Tuesday that also found the department probably won’t meet its own goals for deploying an entry-exit system. The findings were revealed as Congress debates an immigration bill, and the Government Accountability Office’s report could throw up another hurdle because lawmakers in the House and Senate have said that any final deal must include a workable system to track entries
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Mark Levin, who hosts one of America´s top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people´s pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government. The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama´s use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
The former commander of special operations in Northern Africa told a closed-door briefing today that he was largely detached from events the night of the Benghazi attack as he was traveling at the time. The testimony of Col. George H. Bristol, USMC, Former Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Africa, had been eagerly anticipated by members of Congress. Originally, lawmakers had been told by the Defense Department that he had retired — the actual date is Aug. 1, an “administrative error” according to the Pentagon — and that they didn’t have
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all. But even more surprising, while the former vice presidential candidate has made Alaska a central part of her public image, the state´s residents split on the question of whether Palin is all that Alaskan. Conducted by Public Policy Polling,
In her first speech since taking over the Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy came out swinging Tuesday and promised to ramp up the aggressive climate change agenda laid out by President Obama.(snip)“Can we stop talking about environmental regulations killing jobs? Please, at least for today,” she said during remarks at Harvard Law School. “We need to cut carbon pollution to grow jobs. We need to cut carbon pollution to strengthen the economy. Let’s talk about it positively. Let’s approach this as an opportunity of a lifetime. There are too many lifetimes at stake.”
