Obama´s Big State Of
The Union Lie

Investor´s Business Daily, by Staff

´Already, the Affordable Care Act is helping to slow the growth of health-care costs," the president claimed Tuesday. This ranks as one of the biggest State of the Union whoppers ever told. In fact, not only are health-care costs climbing, but employers are also shifting those costs onto the very "middle-class" families Obama spent much of his speech championing. Since ObamaCare was enacted, family health-insurance premiums on average have soared $3,000, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The president promised the law would slash premiums by an average of $2,500 per family.

My share of health care was doubled to $8,000 a year. When you only make $23,000 a year that means over a third of my salary would go to premiums. I had to drop it so now my husband and I have no health insurance but I can at least buy groceries. Thanks for nothing.

On Free Speech, Sarah Palin

Is someone really violating your right of “free speech” if they’re not using the power of the state to censor you? What if they’re “only” trying to get you fired, shamed out of public life, universally reviled, and left as a laughingstock — all without taking even a moment to address the conservative’s underlying argument? To some, that’s just a battle of free speech (conservative comment) versus free speech (lefty efforts to ruin your life), and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to be reminded of the law, thank you very much. The other side of the argument – the Mark Steyn,

Senator John Cornyn’s longshot challenger in the 2014 Texas Republican primary, Rep. Steve Stockman, is milking the Phil Robertson controversy for all it’s worth. As anyone who’s dipped into the maw of the Internet this week surely knows, Mr. Robertson is the “Duck Dynasty” star who said in a GQ interview that “homosexual behavior” could easily “morph” into “bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” After GLAAD complained, the network that airs “Duck Dynasty,” A&E, suspended Mr. Robertson for an indefinite period of time—setting up a predictable conservative backlash. Last summer, White House officials planning a nationwide push to urge young adults to enroll in new health insurance plans had a big problem: Polls showed that many young, healthy people who could be key to the success of the Affordable Care Act knew little about it or its October 1 rollout. So the administration, scrambling to create a publicity "buzz" that would ripple across social media, turned to Hollywood. Stars such as pop singer Lady Gaga - a Twitter icon with nearly 41 million followers - singer John Legend (5 million followers) and actress Olivia Wilde (1.2 million followers) tweeted

On Friday at the White House, President Obama lashed out at ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl and Fox News’ Ed Henry, explaining that he was self-critical enough that he did not need to hear critical questions from the two of them. “It’s not that I don’t engage in a lot of self-reflection here,” he said in response to a question from Karl. “I promise I beat myself up even worse than you or Ed Henry does, on any given day, but I’ve also got to wake up in the morning and make sure that I do better the next day.” Obama’s

Four people are in custody in connection with a deadly carjacking outside an upscale mall in northern New Jersey that left a lawyer dead after two men shot him as he reportedly tried to protect his wife, authorities said early Saturday. Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County prosecutor´s office, did not provide details or elaborate on the arrests, but said additional information will be released at a news conference Saturday morning, according to The New York Post. The Robertson family of "Duck Dynasty" fame has rallied around its patriarch, saying his controversial comments on homosexuality are "grounded in the teachings of the Bible." But Scripture is fiercely contested ground, and some experts say Phil Robertson misinterprets a key Bible verse. A&E, the network that broadcasts the hugely popular "Duck Dynasty" show, suspended Robertson for a now infamous interview with GQ magazine. In the article, Robertson, who became a born-again Christian in the 1970s after a prodigal youth, is asked to define "sin." Here´s what Robertson says: “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around

Over the last several weeks the Obama White House has been executing a media blitz meant to sell Obamacare to the nation—again. As the final maneuver in that plan, the President is releasing several reports on how Obamacare will affect the states. His message: repealing Obamacare will just be too expensive. "These state reports mark the culmination of a multi-week effort by the White House and supporters of reform to bring a renewed refocus on each of these benefits and what the cost of repealing them would mean," a White House official told reporters at The Hill. Two new academic studies, using the standard regression modeling techniques that are considered the most “mainstream” methodology of political science today, turn the conventional wisdom on its head. Former President Bill Clinton says if U.S. lawmakers realized the economic impact of having the country’s population growth coming to a halt, it would energize immigration reform, “because it’s the only way to keep our country growing.” Clinton made the comments while discussing immigration reform earlier this month on the America with Jorge Ramos program. “I think that we´re trying to pass immigration reform. The country needs it. If – I wish that all these members of Congress who oppose immigration reform, and who feel threatened by it, had been with me on my recent trip to Asia,” Clinton said.

While the Japanese were celebrating the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, the mastermind of that attack, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, had a sobering message for his countrymen. "We have awakened a sleeping giant," he said. Even before the war began, the admiral had warned his emperor that Japan would enjoy early victories in any war with the United States, but that winning streak would last only six months to a year, after which American industrial might would inevitably overwhelm the small island nation. He was right. For the first few months of World War II, the Japanese war machine steamrolled

Let´s get a few things straight about what Phil Robertson said that got him in trouble. Defenses of Robertson, the star of "Duck Dynasty" suspended for his remarks in an interview with GQ, have focused on the idea that he was just crudely expressing the sincere, Christian view that homosexuality is sinful. (Snip) Robertson´s defenders should read his comments again, because their defenses are off-point. If you´re defending Robertson, here´s what you´re defending: 1. Robertson thinks black Americans were treated just fine in the Jim Crow-era South, and that they were happy there. 2.Robertson thinks the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor

Marks & Spencer has told Muslim staff they can refuse to serve shoppers buying alcohol or pork, it has been revealed. The chain has granted checkout workers in more than 700 stores permission to politely decline to serve customers for religious reasons. Instead, shoppers are being asked to wait to pay for certain items at a different till. The policy highlights a divide among the mainstream food retailers over whether religious staff should be excused from certain tasks. In contrast to M&S, Sainsbury´s has told Muslim staff that there is no reason why they cannot handle goods such as alcohol and

I think we can safely call Cracker Barrel’s response to the Phil Robertson scandal a clusterduck. For those sensible souls not following the saga as closely as I am: the Southern restaurant chain became the first major retailer to pull some Duck Dynasty products off its shelves on Saturday in response to cast member Robertson’s now-notorious anti-gay GQ interview. Cue a barrage of tweets, emails, and calls from Duck Dynasty fans to the powers that be at Cracker Barrel, not to mention threats of a boycott. This evening 60 Minutes did yet another puff piece on a member of the Obama Administration. This time it was National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s turn. However, the most egregious part of the segment concerned Benghazi. House Budget Committee chairman Rep.
