RUSH: Have you seen the number of people that go on food stamps every day? There are 11,629 new food stamp recipients every day in this country. That´s right, and President Obama is trying to fix that. President Obama is appalled by that! It´s the Republicans who don´t care enough to have people eating properly, and President Obama´s appalled by that number and doing everything he can to fix it. (This is how this works.) Now, remember, none of this would be possible without a complicit media. None of it could´ve happened. I mentioned that dictators are perceived by their

Ames, Iowa — Ted Cruz declined to take a position on whether the Republican National Committe is right to boycott NBC and CNN for primary debates if the networks go ahead with their plans to air movies on Hillary Clinton, but made it clear he anticipated such movies would be biased. “I don’t think anybody is surprsised to discover that the mainstream media are in love with Hillary Clinton,” Cruz told reporters after delivering a speech at the Family Leader Summit. “I would expect both of those movies to be released on Valentine’s Day. That is her base.”

One of the idiocies passed off for decades among Western historians is bemoaning the Crusades as evil. The Islamic world -- the Ummah -- has disseminated this imaginary charge against the West, and like fools, we have absorbed Arab lies and taken the blame to heart. But the most superficial reading of Western history should put that canard to rest. Shortly before he died in June 632 AD, Mohammed ordered Muslims to prepare to wage war against the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire. Upon his death, Mohammed´s successor, Abu Bakr, planned to fulfill those instructions.

Ames, Iowa — Donald Trump delivered a blistering attack on Mitt Romney’s campaign today. “I don’t know what the hell happened with his campaign,” Trump said in a speech at The Family Leader Summit. “I just don’t get it. That was an election that couldn’t have been lost.” “Every single state that they asked me to go or do some phone calls or some television, we won in the primaries,” Trump remarked. But he also criticized what the campaign had initially wanted him to say in robocalls. “They gave me this most pathetic thing to say. I said,

The President´s

Leave it to President Obama, with one foot out the door, to sling one more verbal jab at any Republicans who have the temerity to oppose his health care law. In a Friday afternoon presser before his vacation getaway, the president called efforts to defund and repeal ObamaCare the Republicans´ "holy grail" and an "ideological fixation." Which is not to be confused with Obama´s own fixation on passing health care despite sustained opposition by more than half the country. The president went on to set up and knock down his own straw man, as The Hill reports:

Russian President Vladimir Putin believes he can “dis” the United States without repercussions, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said in an interview with CNN. Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.) told Wolf Blitzer late Friday that Putin “intends to stick his thumb in the eye of the United States every time he can.” “I think there was an opportunity with the past leadership in Russia,” Royce said. “But right now, clearly, Putin intends to ... stick his thumb in the eye of the United States every time he can. And so it´s a difficult situation.

WASHINGTON — PRESIDENT OBAMA proved himself a great segue artist Friday, as he smoothly glided from his previously unassailable position on the matter of surveillance to his new unassailable position on the matter of surveillance. There is no moral high ground that he does not seek to occupy. As with drones and gay marriage, he seems peeved that we were insufficiently patient with his own private study of the matter. Why won’t the country agree to entrust itself to his fine mind? Yet while Barry is in the thick of it, the air is thick with Hillary.

What really happened to Navy SEAL Team 6? In August 2011, the elite special forces unit suffered the worst battlefield calamity in its history. A Taliban fighter shot down a Chinook helicopter carrying 22 Navy SEAL Team 6 members in Afghanistan. All 38 persons on board — the Navy SEAL warriors, other U.S. military personnel and seven Afghan soldiers — were killed. Grieving family members have been demanding answers. They may now get some as Congress finally opens an investigation. Navy SEAL Team 6 has attained international prominence for one reason: They were responsible for killing

The Muslim world is always ready to fragment, following the traditional Bedouin saying, "I against my brother, my brothers and I against my cousins, then my cousins and I against strangers". This is the war logic of the desert, and it appears everywhere in Muslim history. In Libya, NATO and the United States foolishly knocked over Gadaffi´s tribal federation that ruled that country for decades, so that Libya today is back to civil war between tribes, families, terrorist gangs, and brothers. Most Muslim nations still preserve the primacy of brothers and cousins, because in case of trouble --

Many things are not remarkable about the growing list of names bandied about in the 2016 presidential speculation sweepstakes - you´ve got your governors, your senators, your ambitious House members, your former elected officials and cabinet members, your vice president. Most have been in politics for a long time, and a lot of them have the gray hair to prove it. One thing that is remarkable about the field, though, is the number of women identified as plausible candidates. It´s not just Hillary Clinton, who obviously looms over the race in a way no other candidate, woman or man, does.

There is widespread acceptance of the proposition that the mainstream media is fully in the tank for Barack Obama, and all his vague but pleasant-sounding initiatives. Even when you discount the fact that the president generally makes himself unavailable to take questions from the media in the first place, and carefully pre-selects those few from whom he actually does take questions, this sycophancy is not completely understandable.

A certain very erudite and always entertaining social critic remarked the other day that he always thought the worst of people. He went on to say -- perhaps, at most, half jokingly -- that he was always right about them, too. He then revealed that he actually had been very trusting as a boy, that he believed everyone and often got taken advantage of. He certainly doesn´t get taken advantage of much now, I´m sure. But what he doesn´t know is that in one significant way he hasn´t changed at all.

The Washington Post is a legend in the minds of the Washington elite, so its financial decline has caused quiet panic. As NPR media reporter David Folkenflik put it, “You think of stories like the Pentagon Papers, Watergate, these are all stories where The Washington Post led the nation’s understanding, the world’s understanding of some major issues.” Outside the liberal media, you wonder how long Post fans can wallow in their Nixon-crumbling polyester “glory days” in the early 1970s. But nostalgia ruled as the Graham family sold the Post to Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon.com.

President Barack Obama announced Friday afternoon that the White House will publicly release a summary of the legal authorities through which the National Security Agency conducts its controversial surveillance programs. ´Given the history of abuse by governments,´ he said, it is important to explain how such a program is managed, and - equally important - what it may not do. He described his working relationship with Vladimir Putin as ´candid´ and ´blunt,´ and seemed to dismiss concerns that the Russian president´s body language indicated a lack of willingness to work with the United States.

In its coverage Thursday, rather than point out the president´s geographical error, the wire service made it look as though no error was made.

During a press conference yesterday, President Obama revealed the existence of a sealed indictment in the Benghazi attacks in Libya on September 11, 2012, leaving some experts questioning whether the president broke the law. Federal law states that ´no person may disclose [a sealed] indictment´s existence,´ and that doing so may be ´punished as a contempt of court,´ a charge that carries a minimum sentence of six months prison. The announcement came as a surprise to some insiders, as the existence of a sealed indictment has not been publicly confirmed or denied by law enforcement or
