Which Chris do you honor?
American Thinker, by Robin Osborne

The world as we know it is changing more and more each day. We get information non-stop and often it is clouded by the deliverer´s opinion. The State of the Union´s lofty promises and the turmoil all around the world give us a surreal feeling that our comforts are in jeopardy. Our institutions are failing and the people we trust to do the right things are failing as well. The president has taken an early step toward tyranny by ruling with Executive Order. His opposition is weakened by his rhetoric and they offer no real challenge

A new Republican poll shows Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) in a potentially tough spot for reelection, with more than half of respondents open to reelecting a new senator next year. The survey, from GOP firm Magellan Strategies, reveals 51 percent of respondents say it´s "time to give a new person a chance" in office. Thirty-nine percent agreed that Landrieu has performed her job well enough to "deserve to be reelected." Though those numbers are bad news for Landrieu, they´re not a clear indication half of Louisiana voters will vote to oust her.

MORVEN, Ga. — Small-town police departments across the country have been gobbling up tons of equipment discarded by a downsizing military — bicycles, bed sheets, bowling pins, French horns, dog collars, even a colonoscopy machine — regardless of whether the items are needed or will ever be used. In the tiny farming community of Morven, Ga., the police chief has grabbed three boats, scuba gear, rescue rafts and a couple of dozen life preservers. The town´s deepest body of water: an ankle-deep creek. An Associated Press investigation of the Defense Department program, originally aimed at helping local law enforcement

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan- Secretary of State John Kerry met Thursday with the Pakistan´s new prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, whose election marked the first peaceful transfer of power from one civilian government to another. The Obama administration is seeking to rebalance the tumultuous relationship with the nuclear-armed Pakistan in an effort to work together on counterterrorism, to start peace talks with the Taliban as the U.S. winds down its involvement in neighboring Afghanistan, and to coordinate on other issues of strategic interest. "The common interests far exceed and far outweigh any differences," Kerry said during a joint press conference

Undocumented immigrants with temporary legal status soon will be allowed to pay in-state tuition rates at all Ohio public colleges as long as they meet other residency requirements. Until now, most of the state’s public two- and four-year schools have charged those students out-of-state or international rates that can be as much as three times what Ohio students pay. Today, Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor John Carey sent a letter notifying the state’s college presidents about the change, after state Attorney General Mike DeWine determined that immigrant students now may qualify for in-state tuition.

On Tuesday, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said the mainstream media get as much pleasure defeating conservatives as they do when they help liberals. "And I think they get as big a thrill, just as all Democrats do, of defeating conservatives as they do helping Obama," Limbaugh said. "The media has aligned with Obama to defeat Republicans, to defeat conservatives. And Obama is all about that. That makes them his best friend, and vice versa." Appearing on Fox News´ On The Record with Greta Van Susteren, Limbaugh said President Barack Obama can say whatever and "do pretty much

RESTON, Va.— Mark Stewart turns quite a few heads as he zips through the streets on his neon green ELF bike. With each pedal, his feet take turns sticking out from the bottom while a gentle motor hums in the background. What he´s driving looks like a cross between a bicycle and a car, the closest thing yet to Fred Flintstone´s footmobile, only with solar panels and a futuristic shape. It´s a "green" option for today´s commuters. Stewart, a 65-year-old family therapist and school psychologist from Cambridge, Mass., took the summer off in order to drive his new ELF

The White House said bluntly Wednesday that it considers the controversy over the Benghazi attack to be among the so-called "phony scandals" that President Obama has been complaining about in recent speeches -- even as new questions were being raised about the lack of progress in the investigation. Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked at the daily briefing about Obama´s repeated claim -- which he asserted most recently during a speech in Tennessee on Tuesday -- that Washington is getting distracted by phony scandals. Asked what the president was referring to, Carney listed the scandals

President Obama weighed in on the state of journalism in an Amazon Kindle interview published Wednesday, noting the difficulties journalists face in the new media atmosphere and declaring that the “old times aren’t coming back.” “It used to be there were local newspapers everywhere,” Obama said. “If you wanted to be a journalist, you could really make a good living working for your hometown paper. Now, you have a few newspapers that make a profit because they are national brands, and journalists are having to scramble to piece together a living, in some cases as freelancers and without

Candidate Obama said lobbyists wouldn’t work in his White House. President Obama said “we’ve excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs.” But some lobbyists were too beautiful to exclude. Here are our favorite 50 of the more than 100 former lobbyists who hold or have held senior policymaking jobs in the Obama administration.

Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that

Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.

Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,

Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.

No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all. But even more surprising, while the former vice presidential candidate has made Alaska a central part of her public image, the state´s residents split on the question of whether Palin is all that Alaskan.
