Two officers have been shot during a raging gun battle with Christopher Dorner, the fugitive ex-LAPD cop suspected of killing three people in Southern California. Early reports from the scene say Dorner is currently holed up in a group of buildings in a remote area of San Bernardino National Forest, holding heavily-armed police officers at bay. Hundreds of gunshots could be heard coming from the woods when officers engaged Dorner, who promised in an online manifesto to ´wage war´ against police and kill any officers who tried to stop him. Funny, how all the stops are pulled out for this guy, but if the guy who attacked your family or friends doesn´t garner the same attention, eh?

It´s also interesting how one guy, employing 4th generation warfare, can tie up so many resources. That´s something to consider for all the apologists to gun-grabbers who say "you could NEVER go up against the government". Dorner and al Sadr prove otherwise.

That said, Dorner is, by all accounts, a murderer. For that, he should die. He probably knows that and he probably will.

We have been watching this on live local television - helicopter coverage has been pulled off for now. It is nothing like the Daily Mail´s overheated report, obviously gleaned from early reports and speculation and then duly embellished.

There is no obvious standoff. The area has been closed, roadblocks are in place on all sides of the mountain, but there is no firefight going on.

Beware the Daily Mail!

One report just came down. One of the sheriffs deputies shot earlier this afternoon died in hospital of his wounds. Very sad.

Sue Townsend was working on a new Adrian Mole novel when she died, with the working title of Pandora’s Box. The book was due for publication this autumn and Townsend had sent “a few wonderful pages” to her editor, Louise Moore, earlier this year. It is not known if the author had completed a first draft, and it will now be up to her family to decide what, if anything, of the project will be published. The working title raises the wonderful prospect that Townsend planned for her hero to be romantically reunited with Pandora, object of his affection since

WASHINGTON--Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is resigning from the Obama administration after the rocky rollout of President Barack Obama´s signature health care law, a White House official said Thursday. Her resignation comes just one week after the end of the first enrollment period for the Obamacare law. While the opening weeks of the rollout were marred by website woes, the administration rebounded strongly by enrolling more than 7 million people in the new insurance marketplaces. Sebelius´ resignation following her five-year tenure in Obama´s Cabinet comes as the White House seeks to rebound from the politically damaging launch of the health

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius said Thursday that 7.5 million Americans had enrolled in Obamacare insurance coverage by the time the dust settled on April 1, but reused to tell senators how many of them were already covered before the law took full effect. The question is an important one: Republicans claim that most of those who signed up are Americans who lost their existing policies in 2013 because they didn´t meet the Affordable Care Act´s strict and sometimes bewildering minimum standards.
