The Washington Post´s Greg Sargent on Tuesday seemed shocked that Joe Scarborough, who he paints as the voice of moderation, agrees more with Democrats on deficit issues than Republicans. On the subject of fiscal problems and the debt, the MSNBC host told Sargent, "I don’t expect to be cheering House Republicans anytime soon." The left-leaning Post writer asked if, on deficit issues, Scarborough´s "views are indeed more in line with Dems than with Republicans." The cable host replied, "yes." He then went on to attack Barack Obama from the left: "I don’t see the Democrats focusing seriously

Because the current Republican´s have formed a circular firing squad, the TEA Partiers that sat out 2012 will have to reform those left standing in 2014.

At a GOP lunch last week, Sen. John McCain noted that “some crazy guy from Texas” stormed out during President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address. “Hey,” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz chimed in, “I didn’t walk out of the State of the Union.” The packed room erupted in laughter. The exchange — referring to GOP Rep. Steve Stockman’s heavily publicized early exit — reflects thawing tensions between Cruz and his fellow GOP senators. After battling with Senate Republicans for much of 2013, prompting tense confrontations and occasional shouting matches, Cruz is starting to achieve what once seemed unthinkable: He’s getting

The conservative legal activist who won the first court ruling questioning the legality of the National Security Agency´s massive phone-call tracking database is asking the Supreme Court to short circuit the normal appeals process and take up the case directly. Attorney Larry Klayman said he sent the unusual petition to the high court on Monday. "We went to the Supreme Court because, unlike the government, we´re not dragging our feet. We want a quick decision here," Klayman said in a brief phone interview Monday afternoon. A Justice Department spokesman had no immediate comment on the submission. The filing, known as

In case you didn´t know, Loesch was a liberal, campaigned for the Clintons, was an active College Democrat, and did opposition research. "I was a mean one," she said. Call it the Jeanne Shaheen Protection Act of 2014: New Hampshire Democrats have introduced a bill into the state legislature that would help incumbents by allowing voters to cast a ballot for "none of the above." The Democratic lawmakers promoting the bill frame it as a populist measure. “Real choice means people have to be able to withhold their consent,” state Rep. Another Democratic proponent suggested politicians would kill the bill out of fear that "none of the above" would get the most votes. “It’s

Across the same period, the national unemployment rate fell by 1.3%--though that, too, was partly driven by an exodus of workers from the labor force, albeit less dramatic than in Illinois. This is not surprising, given our country’s history of Red Scares designed to impress that anti-capitalism is tantamount to treason. In 2014, though, we are too far removed from the Cold War-era threat of thermonuclear annihilation to continue without taking stock of the hype we’ve been made, despite Harry Allen’s famous injunction, to believe.
