My first full time job was working at state street bank for a very well educated cuban refugee. I found it interesting that he promised to never hire a political science major. From his experience and interviews, he declared they were nothing but college educated communists whose philosophy he detested and they really did not want to work, just collect their paychecks. I had a lot of respect for him, he was a hard worker and very smart. And right about the poly/sci people.

The rule of law no longer applies to most in thinking about immigration. Deport ALL illegals! Let them find a sponsor as it used to be with a confirmed job and not dependent on the government to sustain them once they are here. Those here Illegally are the ones who Best Know How to Milk the System. They apply for each and every benefit and the color of their skin affords them to receive same.
Take away the ANCHOR BABY status--------that should be Step No. 1.

I´m getting sick of these one-worlder multi-millionaires telling me to welcome advantage-taker, foreign criminals into my country. They are turning us into a one-party socialist country; replacing our language, erasing our heritage and stealing large amounts of our tax money. Saying they merely "arrived w/o papers is like saying a burglar didn´t wait to be invited into your home, and is simply accepting gifts of our possessions we hadn´t yet given. Mr. Gutierrez and corrupt politicians on both sides of the border share a chilling disregard for the American people, our laws, and America´s national interest.
Giving citizenship to an imported, semi literate underclass with a massive sense of entitlement is national suicide. Gutierrez and the corrupt politicians pushing for amnesty know exactly what they´re doing. They will destroy this nation if they are not stopped.

With their attacks on tea party conservatives, Karl Rove and his cohorts have fired the first salvo in the Great GOP War of 2013. The strangest aspect of this is that even as Rove denounces conservatism in favor of his unique brand of watered-down compromise, he appears to be looking to capitalize on conservatism itself. While he may call his latest super PAC the “Conservative Victory Project,” Rove most decidedly does not wish for conservative victory. Per the Constitution, a President appoints cabinet members "by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate." In the matter of Chuck Hagel´s move to the Pentagon, the Senate´s Democratic majority is more or less waiving this clause and rolling over to President Obama´s wishes. It´s not that Democrats don´t have serious doubts about the former Republican Senator´s record and qualifications. Senate Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin started last month´s nomination hearing by enumerating them, from Mr. Hagel´s long-standing opposition to sanctions on Iran to his warnings about the influence of a "Jewish lobby."

When Michigan became the 24th right-to-work state late last year, everyone knew unions would try to overturn or otherwise neuter the law. That´s the message from a December 27-28 memo to local union presidents and board members from Michigan Education Association President Steven Cook, which recommends tactics that unions can use to dilute the impact of the right-to-work law. One bright idea is to renegotiate contracts now to lock teachers into paying union dues after the right-to-work law goes into effect in March. Another is to sue their own members who try to leave.

This is Catholic Schools Week, when dioceses across the country celebrate the great gifts that are our Catholic schools. It has been a somewhat somber Catholic Schools Week for me, since in the Archdiocese of New York we recently announced that 24 of our schools will be closing at the end of this academic year. According to the National Catholic Education Association, the closings will join a national trend that has seen Catholic-school enrollment in the U.S. decline by 23.4% since 2000, a loss of 621,583 students. It is sometimes hard to understand why enrollment has dropped.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
