Fox Conservative Guest Slams Dr.
Ben Carson For ‘Inappropriate’
Political Speech At Prayer Breakfast

Mediaite, by Noah Rothman

Original Article

On Monday, a panel on Fox News Channel debated the appropriateness of a speech delivered at last week’s National Prayer Breakfast by Dr. Benjamin Carson in which he advocated conservative reforms at a venue attended by President Barack Obama. Conservative guest Cal Thomas broke with many on the right when he said that it was not appropriate for Carson to advance conservative policy arguments at what is supposed to be an apolitical event. (Snip) Jon Scott asked Thomas and Fox News Contributor Alan Colmes about the reaction by CNN Anchor Candy Crowley to Carson’s speech when she

Comments:
First of all he didn´t "slam" him. He said it was inappropriate, which I don´t agree with at all. What he said was perfectly appropriate for that venue. Thomas sounds like Bob Beckel and Dana Perino. Good. Grief.

Unlike of course the appropriateness of Obama inviting the Supreme Court Justices to the SOU address and then slamming the bench´s decisions?

What was said cannot be un-said. It´s got a lot of panties in a wad, and too bad. All this hindsight tumult isn´t worth a pile of spit.

I would agree, except that there is no such thing as an apolitical event attended by Barack 0bama. Everywhere he goes, every time he opens his mouth whether to speak or eat, he or one of his flunkeys is going to try pushing his socialist agenda.

Dr. Carson is not a member of the Clergy, is not a politician. He IS a private citizen.
Just WHEN has the citizen had someone who speaks for them?
Seize the moment. His speech was excellent, the right time, the right place, and the right message.
Thank YOU Dr. Carson.

If Dr. Carson had choen a more "appropriate" venue for his remarks we wouldn´t be talking about it because no one would´ve heard about it. We conservatives need to take advantage of the opportunity for our views to be heard by the masses when the opportunity presents itself.

DR. CARSON chose the perfect environment to make his points. First of all, where would he have had a venue that would have gotten this kind of attention? No where but somewhere that the president was in attendance. He feels as pationately as I do about the direction in which this country is heading and wanted to give notice to those who are unaware. He has done all Americans a service, including Cal Thomas and Bob Beckel. They too are going to suffer the consequences of Obama´s disasterous admiinistration. And, thank God a black man had the timerity to tell the truth to the first black president.. No one else could get away with it but a man of color and of superior personal accomplishment.

Cal Thomas made a mistake this time. The Obama msm doesn´t let any dissent to be reported. If Dr. Carson needed this platform to make his point of view known then he had to do it that way. I also don´t think Obama as a person deserves any respect, but the office does.

He was wrong. And he purported to be an "expert" on the Prayer Breakfast, but he clearly didn´t read about its founding and its intent. There´s a good long citation at Wikipedia on the Prayer Breakfast, which is actually just a part of a several day gathering.

Where else would the opportunity to offer to Obama another viewpoint arise? Obama isn´t exactly solicitous of views outside his statist/socialist comfort zone.

Dr. Carson provided Obama with a lot of common-sense wisdom in his 27 minute speech, but I doubt it will sink in. Obama had rather operate with the false knowledge which sounds good to the low-info crowd but is the wisdom of fools in practice.

Dr. Carson on Cavuto just now (paraphrased from memory):

He said that he will retire from surgery in June. Continue to teach, but no longer perform surgery. Hmmm.

Excuse me, but a prayer breakfast is exactly the time to point out the God many of us believe in did suggest proportionality as fair way to return some of our blessings. I also think that his points on our responsibility to educate ourselves as our own personal path to God´s freedom and his reference to prohibition against teaching slaves to read were excellent for the occasion. As were his comments on political correctness interfering with our freedom and growth as a society.

The point is, is faith supposed to inform all of life or just the parts that take place inside a church? When priests and pastors supported civil rights, that didn´t violate so-called "separation of church and state," did it? Thomas (who was a strong supporter and member of the board of the prayer breakfast) has always had a strict view of this issue, I think because he feels liberals violate it all the time. He is right about them crossing the line, but he is wrong about where the line should be drawn. Faith illuminates how we should live, and that includes politics. We don´t need Christian ministers in politics, to be sure, but we most certainly do need outspoken Christian citizens and politicians.

What rubbish about political talk! Ben Carson is acting as a Nathan the prophet to Obama´s King David, warning him about Obama´s prideful sin of pushing a hasty, poorly planned socialized medicine scheme to the detriment of everyone for the sake of his "legacy". In his devotion to the false gods of Humanism & Socialism, Obama rules capriciously & foolishly, hurting many people along the way.

Now, Obama has no excuse for when he meets his Maker. This speech was appropriate because this was one venue Obama had no opportunity to avoid listening to the unvarnished truth that his handlers like ValJar usually keep from him.

I read Thomas´ article, and he somehow came to the conclusion that Carson´s points would have been just as effective if delivered in some other venue. They would not. His words begged to be heard, and his remarks worked best because they were delivered face to face. No cowardice. Obama has done far less appropriate, less civil put downs of invited guests. Thomas also seems to argue that he might not come back to the prayer breakfast next year because of this treatment. If that be the case, we´re all a lot better off.

Jeb Bush has become the establishment´s candidate and top pick to win the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, according to a new analysis of the race. “We now consider Bush the leader of the field if he decides to run,” said the influential “Crystal Ball” from the University of Virginia´s Center for Politics. “In recent months, we’ve noticed an unmistakable and widespread desire among some of the Republicans we talk to, particularly ones who would be classified as members of the establishment on and off Capitol Hill, for a third Bush nominee in less than three decades.

(Video) The Obama ladies are in the house — the house of China, that is. First lady Michelle Obama, her two daughters, Malia and Sasha, and her mother touched down Thursday in China for what’s being touted as a weeklong feel-good tourist event, amid increasing murmurs back home about U.S. taxpayers having to foot the bill. Mrs. Obama is supposed to use her visit for soft diplomacy only, and shy from the more controversial topics that plague U.S.-China relations, namely human rights and economics. No reporters accompanied the family on the trip. “The nature of her visit is really quite

“Obamacare” as shorthand for the Affordcable Care Act was first used mostly by critics of the law, but now everyone’s using the moniker and President Obama has long since embraced it. But apparently no one told Nancy Pelosi, because she’s still ticked off at how much people talk about “Obamacare” instead of the “Affordable Care Act.” In response to a reporter asking a question about Obamacare being a political winner or loser, Pelosi said, “By the way, it’s called the Affordable Care Act. It’s called the Affordable Care Act. I know you didn’t intend any compliment or derogatory––it’s called the

Secretary of State John Kerry called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday morning to protest insults the Israeli defense minister directed at the Obama administration this week, the State Department said. In a speech at Tel Aviv University on Monday, Moshe Ya’alon criticized President Obama for having a weak foreign policy, and said Israel could no longer rely on the United States to lead nuclear negotiations with Iran. “Secretary Kerry spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu this morning. And he protested to him his concerns about these comments,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday. The U.S., Psaki reaffirmed, maintains an “unshakable

President Barack Obama said Wednesday that he thinks Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick “would make a great president or vice president.” Obama and Patrick, both Democrats, are friends and close political allies. The two men have campaigned for each other, with Patrick acting as a surrogate for Obama nationally during the 2012 presidential race. Patrick has said clearly that he intends to return to the private sector when his second term as governor is up at the end of the year and will not run for president in 2016. But he has not ruled out a run for office in the

First Lady Michelle Obama will be accompanied by her children and her mother on her trip to China, which begins today. But she won´t be accompanied by the press. "Michelle Obama’s trip to China starting on Wednesday will be nonpolitical, the White House says, a ´people-to-people exchange´ emphasizing the importance that both nations place on education. As if to underscore the point, no reporters are traveling with the first lady, and she does not plan to give interviews while there," reports the New York Times. The White House is defending the first lady bringing her family along for the ride by saying

Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but

Ellen DeGeneres was a completely slavish toady to President Obama as he appeared on her show to sell Obamacare -- not to young people, but to mothers. The president made his pitch to "especially all the moms out there who may have young people – 26, 27, do not have health insurance, but they think they’re invincible and nothing’s ever going to happen to ‘em – what we’ve said is you never know what life is going to throw at ya."

Michelle Obama arrived in China on Thursday for a weeklong visit that will steer clear of politics and instead focusing on education and community. [Snip] On Friday, she is to spend the day with Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, something which diplomats hope will build bridges between the two countries. ´I think this is a very good opportunity to improve the China-U.S. relations, as the first lady can represent the soft side of diplomacy,´ said Wang Dong, a political scientist at Peking University´s School of International Studies. ´Michelle Obama herself has been accomplished in areas such as

College basketball can wait. Did you know that March is actually National Nutrition Month? Today, First Lady Michelle Obama urged Americans via her "Let´s Move!" initiative to challenge their family members to eat one new fruit or vegetable per week in March to faithfully observe the occasion. "March is National Nutrition Month and you can celebrate by challenging your family to try a new fruit or vegetable each week," First Lady Michelle Obama said in an e-mail to supporters today. Never mind that there were less than two "each weeks" left in National Nutrition Month when the e-mail challenge was

Warm temperatures, colorful wildflowers. What´s not to like, about early signs of spring? Climate scientists at NASA say these early signs could be tied to global warming, and the consequences are troubling. 9NEWS talked to NASA scientist Dr. Compton Tucker at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. He said that on average, the last frost of the year is happening about five days earlier than it did just five decades ago. Tucker said his conclusions are drawn from a fleet of Earth-observing satellites that have been monitoring our planet for more than 40 years. That satellite data combined with
