| A four-year-old boy died after one of the hospitals shamed by David Cameron as having persistently high death rates repeatedly failed to diagnose his cancer. Mackenzie Cackett’s tragic plight won the heart of the Duchess of Cambridge when she made a trip to The Treehouse hospice where the little boy spent his final weeks last year and where she is patron. With Mackenzie vomiting and complaining almost daily of headaches, his desperate parents went to the scandal-hit Colchester General Hospital four times over seven months before doctors finally discovered a tangerine-sized tumour at the top of his spine.

Comments: **and Padraic Flanagan. This article is about horror stories involving the British National Health system. Some of them are so sad. Hopefully the Duchess can bring some force towards a positive solution.

I realize that this is NHS of Britain, but why on earth are these medical people getting away with killing patients? Just because their medical system is regulated, doesn´t give these doctors a free pass when it comes to ignoring proper medical care for patients. Some of these medicos need to go down, big time. Or better yet, become long term patients so they can get personal experience of what they are doing to people.

Poor kid.
I guess he didn´t meet the approval of the Death Panels. But don´t worry, folks - - our Death Panels will be much, much nicer.

British doctors and nurses are not monsters, they are human, but this is what happens to humanity under the socialist plague, and Obama has infected America with it.

Does anyone remember the flap over the past few years, when NHS hospitals forced nurses to remove any jewelry displaying a cross?

Our newest granddaughter was born last July 4th. After about 6 hours my daughter and SIL noticed a rhythmic motion of her right arm.
During the next 12 hours she had her blood sugar tested, saw a neonatolgist, got a spinal tap then a CT which showed that a stroke had occurred inutero.
She was transferred to a high level NICU, saw a pediatric neurologist. Was given an MRI, MRA and MRV to check for more clots in the entire brain, veins an arteries. She was then seen by a pediatric hematologist, and pediatric physical and occupational therapists.
They determined that it was a clot that had traveled to the brain rather than a brain bleed. The damaged caused would be wait and see.
That morning against my better judgement I Googled infant strokes. Some news was encouraging...some was not. I did read a comment from a mother whose child was having seizures and the doctor was thinking stroke but....her MRI appointment was in 3 WEEKS. Yep...it was in the UK.
Early diagnosis was vital our granddaughter especially if clotting was an issue.
Our kids are not rich, Blue Cross/Blue Shield for insurance. It only took 12 hours to ease our minds and begin treatment for seizures. Will we continue to get this kind of care??? No.
Very happy to say that with early PT she is happy, healthy, on schedule developmentally off of he seizue meds, and no impairments expected.

This is what happens with socialized medicine. They failed to diagnose the cancer over a series of 4 hospital visits over a 7 month period of vomiting and daily headaches. When they finally found the tumor it was the size of a tangerine. They removed the tumor but did not check for a possible regrowth. When it regrew, it took them 2 more months to discover it again. I would bet that the hospital actually has a relatively good "score" obtained by carefully setting performance standards and checking all the boxes. Too bad all those patients had to die to show there were real problems.

This has been going on for a long time, are they going to ´investigate´ forever or actually do something to improve care ?

#2. I have noticed my husband´s Yorkshire relatives are very passive about holding government people accountable - unless it´s when conservatives hold power. Generations now of socialized medicine and they still will stick up for it to the end. The Royals know how awful it is, for certain. However, they will say nothing. Since the upper class doesn´t ever have to use it, the situation isn´t likely to change. My Yorkshire relatives have never ever used it in their lives.

LAS VEGAS — A former Nevada state lawmaker who had been expelled from the Assembly hours earlier led authorities in California on a high-speed freeway chase before he was shocked with a stun gun and arrested on charges including resisting arrest, authorities said Friday. Steven Brooks, 41, was arrested at about 7 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 15 outside the city of Victorville after a 15-mile chase that exceeded speeds of 80 mph, California Highway Patrol Officer Don Spiker said. It was Brooks´ third arrest since January, and the second involving allegations that he fought with police.

´´It’s time for first lady Michelle Obama to raise her game,´´ writes liberal Washington Post columnist Courtland Milloy in Wednesday´s edition. ´´Nothing wrong with telling kids to eat their peas or showing them how to Hula-Hoop. But after four years of focusing on the body, she’d do well to spend these next four on building strong minds.´´ Milloy says there´s been too much attention paid to Michelle´s body (her arms, bangs, designer clothes), and not enough attention paid to her ivy league education: "Where is that intellectually gifted Princeton graduate, the Harvard-educated lawyer and mentor

Gene Rosen had just finished feeding his cats and was heading from his home near Sandy Hook Elementary school to a diner Friday morning when he saw six small children sitting in a neat semicircle at the end of his driveway. A school bus driver was standing over them, telling them things would be all right. It was about 9:30 a.m., and the children, he discovered, had just run from the school to escape a gunman. ´´We can´t go back to school,´´ one little boy told Rosen. ´´Our teacher is dead. Mrs. Soto; we don´t have a teacher.´´

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

The budget President Barack Obama will submit on April 10 will contain a proposal that would prohibit individuals from accumulating more than $3 million in Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and tax-preferred retirement accounts. According to a White House statement, the Obama administration believes the current rules allow some wealthy individuals "to accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving." "The budget would limit an individual’s total balance across tax-preferred accounts to an amount sufficient to finance an annuity of not more than $205,000 per
