| Dr. Benjamin Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital, raised a number of political eyebrows in Washington this week when he took to a stage he shared with President Barack Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast and advocated a number of conservative reforms. On Sunday, the panel guests on CNN’s State of the Union weighed in on whether it was appropriate for Carson to use the forum of the prayer breakfast to advocate for free market reforms to healthcare and a flat tax code. It´s very tiresome that suddenly all these leftists (including Beckel) who are questioning the venue. What shocked me is that earlier in the week Dana Perino also said she questioned the venue. I wonder about her sometimes. His message was perfectly appropriate for that venue.

What better time to speak of what America is supposed to be about.
No president "owns" the Prayer Breakfast. If his remarks about the state of our society and how he believes it ought to be - was intended to be - pinch the toes of the sitting president, it is he who should be looking in the mirror and giving some thought to how wrong he is.

I watched the entire video this morning. It was about much more than healthcare. What interested me was body language. Michelle was "happy clapping" in the beginning. The camera cut most of her out but you could see her enthusiastically clapping at many of his early points. Obama sat there. He did laugh at a few of the joke punchlines. His lips seemed to part in aghast at what was being said (to him) by someone totally authentic. Then he started wiping "the sleep buggers" out of his eyes. He may have been on his Blackberry. And, his chin gets higher and higher as he looks at him. Then, when it was over, he and Michelle quickly stood. Michelle is no longer wildly clapping. Obama cannot fully stand upright and barely claps at all and very quickly does so before they sit down while the crowd gives him a standing ovation.
