Caffrey, the amazing moggie

Climbing trees, chasing mice, showing off to the ladies . . . four legs were always handy for Caffrey the cat. Then tragedy struck. When Caffrey was three, the handsome grey Persian was run over by a car and lost his left hind leg. Oh well. Not to worry. He happily carried on with three, thanks to a £3,500 series of operations that stitched up the damage and made the best of his front left paw, which was also injured in the crash. Scroll down for video-For the next ten years or so,

I know it´s beyond COOL to "rescue" animals and advocate that no animal be "put down" BUT this is animal cruelty pure and simple. Not humane at all.

#1, first of all rescuing cats is NOT about being cool. It is very time-consuming and very expensive. It can also be heartbreaking but rewarding. Still, I fail to see how this is cruel. This cat has a good quality of life and is well taken care of. How can "euthanizing" be more humane? The cat isn´t suffering. Maybe people who lose their limbs or health should be euthanized too??? If this is "cruel" as you say, then so is keeping people alive who are not healthy and whole...don´t you think?

If I thought this kitty was suffering and had no quality of life, I would say that this is wrong. But there is nothing to indicate that he is unhappy or hurting. I would make a prosthesis, however, if it were my cat. As he gets older, he may need the extra support.

There´s a three-legged cat on my block named, ironically, Lucky. This cat is one tough kitty. No birds or bunnies or squirrels are safe around this little guy.
He is amazing to watch when he is stalking his prey.

I would have euthanized the cat. I would not have believed he could live happily. For me, the expense would have also been a huge consideration. But, he seems happy and healthy.

Just takin´ in stride what comes along in life and doin´ the best he can with the hand he´s been dealt. Impressive Persian, to say the least.

Caffrey may look conspicuously careful in all his actions; but there´s no clear sign that he´s any less content than other cats.

If you adopt/purchase animals you are responsible for their care. My wife and I have 3 cats and 3 dogs adopted form rescue/no kill shelters. They are expensive just for their food and toys and regular maintenance such as
grooming and required shots and licencing. Sometimes you go all out such as radiation treatment which we did for one of our cats. Teeth cleaning and maintenance for instance can be 500$ as this requires blood work. If you are not up for the expense of caring properly for a pet, don´t get one.........PLEASE.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is denying a television news reporter´s claim that reporters often ´provide the questions to him in advance,´ before his daily briefings, and that he sometimes provides answers on paper before taking the podium. ´If only this were true,´ Carney told MailOnline Thursday morning. He was responding to a claim from KPHO-TV5 anchor Catherine Anaya, who reported Wednesday night on what she called an ´off the record´ meeting yesterday morning between Carney and a handful of local TV reporters hand-picked to interview President Barack Obama.

Over the past two years, investigations conducted by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel have uncovered a whole slew of shady tactics being used in operations conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. During their research, Sentinel reporters found ATF agents prey on mentally ill teenagers (including ATF agents pressuring at least one young man to get a squid tattooed on his neck) to "help" with gun stings and found agents lost a fully automatic rifle on the streets of Milwaukee after it was stolen out of an unsupervised government vehicle. A new study documents the bleak plight of Americans who have been unemployed for more than six months: Just 11 percent of them, on average, will ever regain steady full-time work. The findings by three Princeton University economists show the extent to which the long-term unemployed have been shunted to the sidelines of the U.S. economy since the Great Recession. The long-term jobless number 3.8 million, or 37 percent of all unemployed Americans. "The long-term unemployed are more than twice as likely" to stop looking for a job than to find one, according to the paper co-written by Alan Krueger,

A lively Hillary Clinton revealed details today on her upcoming memoir in regards to her experiences at the State Department — jokingly telling a crowd of publishers in New York City it would be “just another light summer read” with the funny title “Bossy Pantsuit.” Clinton said the book would discuss many of the challenges the United States faces in the 21st century, including the crisis in Crimea and Climate Change. But the former Secretary of State added that she’s yet to decide on a name for the book — due to come out on June 1 — but admitted

Mississippi’s GOP senate primary is quickly becoming ground zero in 2014 for the fight between the establishment and the conservative grassroots for control of the Republican Party’s future. The state’s former governor Haley Barbour’s establishment political machine is in full swing running defense for incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran. Cochran is facing the fight of his political life from surging primary challenger two-term state Sen. Chris McDaniel. What has until now largely been a battle between Cochran and McDaniel facing off head-to-head is turning into the front line of the brutal and bloody political war between the Chamber of Commerce-style lobbyist

Paul´s message of investigating and restraining the Central Intelligence Agency and other security arms of the federal government went down well on a campus that was the core of the anti-war movement in the Vietnam era. Yet there were quite a few conservative Republicans in the audience as well, on hand to hear one of their party´s new leaders--and, many expect, a likely contender for the presidential nomination

The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them. “I feel sorry for Obama,” I said. As my wife looked at me in disbelief, I quickly added a correction. “Well, almost.” Beset by failures at home and abroad, the president cuts a lonely and sad figure these days. His aura of grief reflects his profound loss. His worldview crashed headlong into reality, and reality won. Obamaism is dead, may it rest in peace. Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but
