Harry Reid Set Precedent
for Disclosure of Hagel´s
Foreign Funders

Weekly Standard, by Daniel Halper

Original Article

Senate majority leader Harry Reid helped set the precedent for looking into foreign backers when, in 2002, he demanded that Henry Kissinger reveal the source of his funders before serving on the 9/11 Commission. Kissinger refused to release his own documents, and therefore did not serve on the commission. It´s relevant now because Chuck Hagel, who has been nominated as secretary of defense, is not fully disclosing his own foreign financial dealings. This, despite the fact that more than half the Republicans in the Senate sent a letter asking him to do so before they could

Comments:
If we can find this information why can´t the Republicans and shove this back into the faces of the Democrats.

Why doesn´t Obama have to reveal his foreign funders? From what I´ve read, there are many which I believe is illegal.

Washington Times, by Tanya Grimsley    Original Article

WASHINGTON — Once upon a time there was a House of Representatives and a Senate. The two bodies of representatives championed the rights of each United State in America. Left, Right, Democrat or Republican, elected to be the big bad wolf against the Federal Government, put into place with trust, honor and dignity, they were friends of the governed citizens. Then one day, it happened, flash…….. bang……… pow………… The slime from the pork of empty promises oozed out into the once amicable Houses of Congress, corrupting the minds of all who had been in power and control too long.

When Barack Obama sings “Auld Lang Syne” on New Year’s Eve, he will have reason to think back, with a deep sense of nostalgia and not a small amount of regret, on the last time he sang the song. If he gets a lump in his throat as he recollects that glorious night one year ago, who would blame him? After all, he was riding about as high as a man can ride on New Year’s Eve 2012. There he was, almost literally the master of the universe — the canny victor of the 2012 election, having run what was

GLAAD says they have never gotten more angry phone calls and emails than they have since they decided to launch their attack on Phil Robertson, and escalated their speech and thought war against Christians at the same time. But Yahoo reports that they’re not apt to learn anything. The group still wants to re-educate Phil Robertson. After the meeting (between A&E executives and GLAAD), GLAAD issued its statement on Robertson’s comments. A&E initially released a statement from Robertson in which he said he would “never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me.” But the network declined

Friday night, a young New York-based communications director had her life destroyed on social media while she was out of touch with the world and could not defend herself. Justine Sacco was on a flight to Africa and had no Internet access when BuzzFeed´s Andrew Kaczynski apparently got the ball rolling by tweeting out to his 100k-plus followers that Sacco was responsible for what "may be the worst tweet of all time." By the time she stepped off her flight, Sacco found herself a national pariah and fired from her job. Here´s the tweet that caused it all:

On Hugh Hewitt’s Thursday radio show, conservative commentator Mark Steyn spoke out against the groups he said were behind the hostile reactions to the remarks made by “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson made to GQ magazine about homosexuality and sin. “I think in a strange way, this is the biggest story of the day, the week, the month,” Steyn told fill-in host Rep. John Campbell (R-CA). “I’m actually quite worried that we’re moving into an age of extremely heavy-handed ideological compliance. There was nothing this guy said in GQ that I think that should have rendered him banished from the airwaves.

What would A&E do if one of its stars told a national magazine that they supported same-sex marriage? Ken Klukowski, director of the Center for Religious Liberty at the Family Research Council, said they probably wouldn’t have faced the same fate as "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson, who was “suspended indefinitely” from the cable channel’s hit show after he said in an interview with GQ magazine that he believes homosexuality is a sin. “It violates the whole principles underlying the First Amendment to say that a person, who just in their own plain spoken manner, that they quote the Bible

Look, I tried, remember? But while the good news is that KISS finally got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the bad news is that Cat Stevens (a.k.a. Yusuf Islam) will also be a member of the “class of 2014.” KISS led the popular vote, while Stevens brought up the rear. However, the Hall has a sort of “electoral college” that gets to override the people’s choices. This leads to a frankly bizarre situation, in which bands like Yes (10.88% of the popular vote) and Deep Purple (11.93%) beat out Stevens (5.37%) but don’t get inducted. Look,

Judge Robert J. Shelby, whom President Barack Obama appointed to the U.S. District Court in Utah last year, issued an opinion on Friday declaring that a right to same-sex marriage is “deeply rooted in this nation’s history and tradition.” Shelby was confirmed to the federal bench by a voice vote of the Senate on Sept. 21, 2012. There was no debate over his nomination, and no senator objected to his confirmation. He has now issued an opinion that could fundamentally alter American law and culture. “The State’s second argument is that the Plaintiffs are really seeking a new right, not access to an

While the Japanese were celebrating the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, the mastermind of that attack, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, had a sobering message for his countrymen. "We have awakened a sleeping giant," he said. Even before the war began, the admiral had warned his emperor that Japan would enjoy early victories in any war with the United States, but that winning streak would last only six months to a year, after which American industrial might would inevitably overwhelm the small island nation. He was right. For the first few months of World War II, the Japanese war machine steamrolled

Let´s get a few things straight about what Phil Robertson said that got him in trouble. Defenses of Robertson, the star of "Duck Dynasty" suspended for his remarks in an interview with GQ, have focused on the idea that he was just crudely expressing the sincere, Christian view that homosexuality is sinful. (Snip) Robertson´s defenders should read his comments again, because their defenses are off-point. If you´re defending Robertson, here´s what you´re defending: 1. Robertson thinks black Americans were treated just fine in the Jim Crow-era South, and that they were happy there. 2.Robertson thinks the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor

The chain has granted checkout workers in more than 700 stores permission to politely decline to serve customers for religious reasons. Instead, shoppers are being asked to wait to pay for certain items at a different till. The policy highlights a divide among the mainstream food retailers over whether religious staff should be excused from certain tasks. I think we can safely call Cracker Barrel’s response to the Phil Robertson scandal a clusterduck. For those sensible souls not following the saga as closely as I am: the Southern restaurant chain became the first major retailer to pull some Duck Dynasty products off its shelves on Saturday in response to cast member Robertson’s now-notorious anti-gay GQ interview. Cue a barrage of tweets, emails, and calls from Duck Dynasty fans to the powers that be at Cracker Barrel, not to mention threats of a boycott. This evening 60 Minutes did yet another puff piece on a member of the Obama Administration. This time it was National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s turn. However, the most egregious part of the segment concerned Benghazi. When discussing Rice’s infamous appearances (when she was then U.S. Ambassador to the UN) on five Sunday talk shows on September 16, 2012 in which she claimed that the attacks on Benghazi were

House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has doubled down on his move to cut pensions for military veterans in a USA Today op-ed published Sunday.{SNIP} In fact, the deal raises the deficit by at least $15.5 billion because of a series of gimmicks that Ryan and Murray employed in the accounting of the deal -- namely, double counting of savings like the tactic which was employed in Obamacare, and the failure to include an estimate of the interest on the borrowed money for the first couple of years of increased spending. The Bipartisan Budget Act that Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and I drafted will soon become law. We think it´s a small step toward fiscal discipline in Washington. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill will reduce the deficit over the next ten years by over $20 billion. And unlike current law, it will provide much-needed relief to our already strained defense budget. One part of the bill has become particularly controversial: the reduction in cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) for working-age military retirees.
