A Lefty Killer?
Wall Street Journal, by James Taranto

Remember when liberal journalists and politicians tried to incite a moral panic by blaming a series of violent crimes on the Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and assorted other bugbears? If you don´t, Michelle Malkin has a refresher: The 2009 massacre of three Pittsburgh police officers (which lib journos falsely blamed on Fox News, Glenn Beck, and the "heated, apocalyptic rhetoric of the anti-Obama forces"); the 2009 suicide insurance scam/murder hoax of Kentucky census worker Bill Sparkman (which New York magazine falsely blamed on Rush Limbaugh,

There is certainly a familiar tone to the rantings of this killer. Grandiosity, moral vanity, entitlement, resentment and self-righteous indignation. . . where have we heard these themes before?

This murderer seems bent on extracting revenge. For what, actually? It seems that his life has not gone the way it is supposed to go, the way he is entitled for it to go.

An intolerable injustice has taken place. Things have not gone his way. Quite the contrary. Because of this infringement of his right to have things go his way, he is entitled to behave in ways that, under normal conditions, would not be acceptable, e.g. killing people.

But these are not normal circumstances. Things have happened, events have taken place that affect him that should never have happened. Therefore, all bets are off. He now has a license to kill.

Grandiosity, grievance, resentment, entitlement and malice. . . they seem awfully familiar, like we have heard them before somewhere - but where?

This time when the killer really can be seen to have been influenced by talk radio and talk TV, not hardly a peep about it from the normal sources.

Pfeiffer Guarantees No Delay

National Review Online, by Andrew Johnson    Original Article

While several other elements of the health-care law have unilaterally been delayed, top White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer ruled out that President Obama would delay the individual mandate. “That will not happen?” David Gregory pressed Pfeiffer on Meet the Press. “That will not happen,” he asserted. Pfeiffer’s guarantee comes days after the Wall Street Journal reported that the Obama administration quietly provided a two-year “hardship exemption” from the mandate for those who had their previous health-care plans canceled. The Department of Health and Human Services included that exemption in a separate announcement delaying another aspect of the law: one that would allow insurance

Late night comedian Bill Maher told his HBO “Real Time” audience on Friday that God was a “psychotic mass murderer.” He made the comments during a conversation on the biblical story of Noah and the upcoming Hollywood version of it that’s about to hit the big screen. “But the thing that’s really disturbing about Noah isn’t the silly, it’s that it’s immoral. It’s about a psychotic mass murderer who gets away with it, and his name is God,” Mr. Maher said, adding, “What kind of tyrant punishes everyone just to get back at the few he’s mad at? SAN FRANCISCO - Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Saturday called on the Republican Party to become more inclusive on issues like immigration. "We have a responsibility to those who do not yet have the liberties and the rights that we enjoy," Rice told a cheering crowd at the annual gathering of California Republicans in the San Francisco suburb of Burlingame. "We cannot abandon them ... We were once them." She did not offer a specific policy idea. The speech by Rice, who was secretary of state under President George W. Bush, was the highlight of the second day of

The pilot of the missing Malaysia Airlines jet is pictured in a T-shirt with a Democracy is Dead slogan as fears emerge he could have hijacked the plane as an anti-government protest. Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was a fervent supporter of his country´s opposition leader who was jailed for homosexuality - illegal in Malaysia - only hours before flight MH370 vanished with 239 passengers and crew on board, the Sunday Mirror can reveal. And in a new twist, it emerged that the pilot´s wife and three children moved out of the family´s home the day before the plane´s disappearance. The revelations came after

Investigators trying to solve the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jetliner have concluded that one of the pilots or someone else with flying experience hijacked the missing Boeing 777 and steered it off course, according to a Malaysian government official. The official, who is involved in the investigation, told The Associated Press that no motive has been established, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media. The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory. "It is conclusive." The investigation into the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines 3786.KU +2.13% Flight 370 sharpened its focus on sabotage, according to aviation and industry officials, amid strong indications that one or more people on the plane deliberately changed its course and tried to mask its location. Officials suspect two different systems were shut off after the plane took off last weekend, one shortly after the other, people familiar with the investigation said. About an hour into the flight, the plane´s transponders stopped functioning, making it much more difficult for air-traffic control personnel to track or identify it via radar.

U.S. to relinquish remaining

U.S. officials announced plans Friday to relinquish federal government control over the administration of the Internet, a move that pleased international critics but alarmed some business leaders and others who rely on the smooth functioning of the Web. Pressure to let go of the final vestiges of U.S. authority over the system of Web addresses and domain names that organize the Internet has been building for more than a decade and was supercharged by the backlash last year to revelations about National Security Agency surveillance. The change would end the long-running contract between the Commerce Department and the

Constitution: Right now, the public would not support the cure the Framers provided for a president who skirts the laws. But what might the charges against President Obama look like? If Americans could read for themselves specific articles of impeachment against Obama, would they really think the charges were trumped up, as polls suggest and the media insist is the case? Has, for instance, the president "failed without lawful cause or excuse to produce papers and things as directed by duly authorized subpoenas issued by ... the House of Representatives"? Fact: The Obama administration has withheld plenty of materials requested in House Oversight

On the heels of announcing that Army troop levels will be cut below pre-World War II levels, the Military Times has reported that the Obama administration is planning to reduce military pension costs by 10% by converting part of their retirement to 401(k)-like defined-contribution plans from defined-benefit plans. Police are investigating the possibility that the pilot of missing Flight MH370 hijacked his own aircraft in a bizarre political protest. The Mail on Sunday has learned that Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was an ‘obsessive’ supporter of Malaysia’s opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim. And hours before the doomed flight left Kuala Lumpur it is understood 53-year-old Shah attended a controversial trial in which Ibrahim was jailed for five years. Campaigners say the politician, the key challenger to Malaysia’s ruling party, was the victim of a long-running smear campaign and had faced trumped-up charges. Police sources have confirmed that Shah was a vocal political activist

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) may be popular among hard-line conservatives nationally, but back home he’s in some hot water. According to an Emerson College poll, his favorability is underwater, by a margin of 43 to 48 percent. Moreover, his favorable/unfavorable rating with women is 39 to 50 percent. I asked the poll director for further detail and found: Republicans: 74 percent favorable, 18 percent unfavorable ~Democrats: 8 percent favorable, 82 percent unfavorable ~Independents: 38 percent favorable, 50 percent unfavorable

The poll was conducted by the Tarrance Group, a Republican firm which, like several Democratic and other Republican firms, has had a good record for reliability over the years. This is astonishing for several reasons. Rahall, first elected in 1976, is now the seventh most senior member of the House, with three of the more senior members retiring

By now it’s settled on most people, including Democrats, that the loss of Alex Sink to David Jolly in Florida’s 13th Congressional District was, in the words of the New York Times, “devastating” to Democrats. It’s a district Ms. Sink carried in her unsuccessful race for governor against Rick Scott, a district that Barack Obama carried in his two elections, and a district that demographically now favors Democrats. In addition, Ms. Sink raised more money and ran a better campaign than Jolly. Even Bill Clinton lent his efforts to her campaign. And yet she lost. What should particularly alarm Democrats is

Before I get into those four events, let me say that I understand the only way to stay remotely sane in Washington, D.C., is to ignore 85 percent of whatever is trending at any given moment. That said, there are times anyone less isolated than a Carthusian monk is unavoidably exposed to “news” that 25 years ago would be considered fit only for National Enquirer. Last week, the U.S. Tenth Circuit decided a case that should reverberate on Capitol Hill. In Kerr v. Hickenlooper, five Colorado legislators sought “standing” to challenge a state constitutional amendment. The three-judge panel — consisting of Carter and Clinton appointees — ruled in favor of the legislators’ standing. This decision should embolden members of Congress who correctly believe that President Obama has encroached upon Congress’ constitutional authority. Indeed, Congress should do no less in defending its authority than the five Colorado state legislators. Many members of Congress believe that numerous presidential actions — delaying various provisions of the Affordable Care
