| New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Friday told residents still without heat from October´s superstorm Sandy to seek shelter elsewhere as a massive snowstorm threatens to dump 8 to 12 inches on the city´s boroughs. The city is under a blizzard warning until 1 p.m. Saturday, and the National Weather Service warned winds could gust up to 60 miles per hour as a potentially record-setting storm blasts through on its way to New England. "If your house has been damaged by Sandy and still without heat, call 311 and we´ll be certain to find you shelter," Bloomberg said

Saw a Staten Islander on Fox Business a week ago saying that Cuomo and O are deliberately trying to wait people out so that they sell their property cheap to the government, which will in turn provide it to developer cronies/contributors. Sounded plausible.

Yes OP, was thinking of the tired old saw of "what if a Republican was in power in NY or the WH?" I think we would be seeing all the Staten Island refugees lined up on TV blasting away at Republicans, crying, blaming them BY NAME personally for their pain. If these Democrat voters (more than the few brave ones who have ventured onto FNC) all over those NY neighborhoods united, marched, did hunger strikes, whatever it took and blamed Obama, FEMA, Cuomo and the gang, I would really have more sympathy.

I certainly can understand what the Sandy victims are going through. However Hurricane Ike hit the Texas Gulf coast equally as bad with some folks without power for at least three-four months. Areas near the water were literally leveled. This was underreported by the lsm, probably because we are in flyover country.

Why isn´t the press all over this like they were with Bush and Katrina? And 0bama said he would take care of these people and cut all the red tape. 0bama did nothing for these people.

#4 is right. My family lives in Galveston. We went down the Christmas after Ike hit, and took a drive through the Bolivar peninsula.
Keep in mind that this was 3 months after Ike hit. But Bolivar looked like I would imagine a coastal resort might look after a nuclear bomb was dropped on it.
The MSM was there the night of the storm to get some sensational video. But very little after that. But Texas is a red state, so we do nothing to serve the advantage of Emperor Øvomit.
At least New York got a few publicity pictures and lies after they got hit...

Imagine if no one in the Right Wing Media said a word about Obama´s interview on CBS. Instead, we spent the entire next few days talking about Sandy victims.
About a fifth of the residents in the Rockaways were still without heat in early January
I´ve been wondering about these poor souls. Say a prayer for them. The Left Wing media could care less about their situation and the Right Wing is too distracted to notice.
I was stunned last week to hear Rush Limbaugh say that he had no idea this many victims of Hurricane Sandy were still without power. We should make reporting this a priority. We conservatives have got to get our current event´s priorities straight.

Meanwhile, the news and sports media ran stories about how New Orleans wanted to show the country how it has recovered from Katrina by putting on the Super Bowl. Maybe by the 2015 Super Bowl which is to be played in New Jersey, the media can report on how people in New Jersey and New York have recovered from Sandy. Assuming of course the people who are still living in tents don´t have to shovel too much snow to get to the portapotties.

CAIRO — A court in Kuwait on Monday sentenced a prominent opposition politician to five years in prison for insulting the country’s ruler, a crime that leaders around the Persian Gulf are prosecuting with increasing frequency in an effort to stanch emboldened protest movements, or stop protests before they start. In the last six months, dissidents in Qatar and Saudi Arabia have been imprisoned on charges that included either insulting or disobeying the countries’ leaders. Bahrain’s cabinet on Sunday was reported to have endorsed a penalty of five years in prison for offending the king.

DHAKA - One night in February, Rajib Haider was set upon near his Dhaka home by five knife-wielding youths. His face was so lacerated that a relative who found the body wasn´t sure it was him until he called Haider´s cellphone and heard it ring inside a pocket. Authorities have not identified what caused the explosives that erupted at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Americans think more frequently about the possibility of a terror attack against the United States than they do about the much more likely prospect that they will fall victim to violent crime or be hospitalized, according to a new study from the University of Maryland Monday. A new report published by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the university reveals that about 15 percent of those surveyed had thought about the prospect of terrorism in the United States during the preceding week, significantly more than the percentage who said

Speaking of things that make you want to die, you´ve most likely heard about the sad, horrible case of the unlicensed abortionist Dr. Kermit Gosnell, whose Philadelphia clinic was exposed last week as a house of horrors. Gosnell and eight of his employees are now on trial for the deaths of one female patient and seven newborns, born alive, only to be immediately murdered by Gosnell. The death penalty is on the table. Part of the hubbub involves the fact that the investigation actually began three years ago as an expose of potential prescription drug abuse

The JFK Library incident is reportedly unrelated to the explosions at the Boston Marathon. Reports indicate that it was just a fire, not an explosion. However, police are investigating video footage to see if the fire was caused by a bombing. Earlier today after the bomb blasts at the Boston Marathon police scanners reported a possible bomb at the library.

In the future, white-knuckle fliers may be able to blame those brutally bumpy flights over the Atlantic Ocean on greenhouse gases. Turbulence will be stronger and occur more often if carbon dioxide emissions double by 2050, heating up the atmosphere, according to a study by British scientists published last week in the journal Nature Climate Change. Turbulence is created by atmospheric pressure, jet streams, air around mountains, cold or warm weather fronts or thunderstorms, among other conditions. Severe turbulence is responsible for an average of 58 passenger injuries a year,

They said he would get a quick health check-up and be tagged, before being released back in the mountains.

Luke Nichter of Harker Heights, Texas, said he’s not a renter by choice. The Texas A&M University history professor’s $125,000 of student debt means he has no hope of getting a mortgage. Nichter, 35, who’s paying $1,500 a month on loans for degrees from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, is part of the most debt-laden generation to emerge from college. Two- thirds of student loans are held by people under the age of 40, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, blocking millions of them from taking advantage of the most affordable housing market on record.

Zimmerman´s mother Gladys Zimmerman posted a two page letter online saying that her son was innocent and was arrested "solely to placate the masses." Hours later, Martin´s family and lawyer issued their own letter, stating the Gladys Zimmerman´s remarks were "disingenuous and disrespectful to the very system that is currently affording him every available opportunity to defend himself." A fisherman in Belarus was bitten to death by a beaver, and all he was doing was trying to take its picture, Sky News reports. The man spotted the beaver while fishing with friends at Lake Shestakov, but as he approached to take a photograph, the beaver bit him on the thigh. The animal managed to sever an artery, and his friends couldn´t stop the blood flow. Sky News helpfully reminds us that beavers can, of course, bite through trees. Beaver attacks are rare, though, and when they do occur, rabid beavers are generally to blame

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

But Levin called the situation “fascism.” “Well, it has come to my attention that there is a Republican congressman out there who doesn’t like what I’ve been saying,” Levin said. “It has come to my attention that there is a

Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. Is media bias to blame for lack of Gosnell coverage? Or something far more banal? The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.

I know all too well how mindlessly liberal the students and faculty of that institution can be, and Barack Obama is certainly no exception. My time at Columbia made it crystal clear: liberals always believe they are morally superior. [Snip] It is in this cesspool of intolerance that Obama and his Marxist cronies hatched a secret plan to destroy our country. There are two things you need to know about Obama at Columbia University.
