| Under the broad banner of "health," the federal government not only is telling Americans what to eat, it´s also telling us to make our homes safer. This week, the Obama administration released a "bold new vision for addressing the nation´s health and economic burdens caused by preventable hazards associated with the home." The project has a name: "Advancing Healthy Housing: A Strategy for Action." "People in the United States spend about 70% of their time in a home," the announcement said. "Currently, millions of U.S. homes have moderate to severe physical housing problems,

How much money (that we don´t have) is one of his corrupt agencies going to fork out for this?? Un.be.lievable. Does Valerie Jarrett know about this??

Under the guise of ´health care´, they will try to control absolutely everything we have and everything we do. The could deem our homes unliveable, and make us move to the city - a dream of the Agenda 21 central planners.
That constitutional right to privacy doesn´t cover this, I suppose - it is only for when you want to kill an unborn child.

In addition to mold, mildew, soap scum, and the old bathtub ring, I have problems with cockroaches, millipedes, spiders, and other creatures with more than 4 legs. I have spent big bucks on chemicals. Could ØDumbø send me some large pictures of Moochella in her nightie? I´m sure the little pests would leave my house in high gear.

Obama must stay up as late as he does because it is difficult to keep coming up with ridiculous mandates. He needs more than 24/7 to keep them coming. Last I knew, this mandate belongs in the realm of each individual municipality. Obama believe everything is the concern of the Federal Govt. since they know more than others.

If Obama´s delusional policies weren´t so destructive of jobs, more people would be working and out of their homes.
The irony here is that a dehumidifier reduces moisture that produces mold, but Obama´s insanity about having electricity prices soar means that we cannot use them.
This will surely be in his State of the Union address, with a proposal to spend $750,000 per home to reduce mold, dust and dryer lint. "If reducing mildew saves one child, then it´s worth it."

These creepy progressives won´t stop until people are held in bondage. This story ties in with earlier reports about prospects of green energy inspectors who would require people to bring a house into compliance before it can be sold. Obviously if someone couldn´t afford the extra insulation, new furnace, new windows and roof and so on you either take down the "for sale" sign or build allowances into the sale price. There goes your equity and perhaps then some.

Hey, let´s regulate homeownership out of existence and kill that pesky American dream once and for all! In the the new America, everyone rents. And if you are one of the ones who work hard and want to own a home, be prepared to be told that due to student loan debt owed to the Feds, you probably only qualify for an FHA loan. Forget your income. Forget the fact that you can pay your bills. Forget the fact that the government took over your private loans forcibly. They want everyone in debt to them, this is just part of the plan.

This is coastal South Carolina. Mildew is the State Parasite (akin to Obamacles being the National Parasite).
Coincidentally, we just had our crawl space sprayed with some new stuff so mildew and other fungi won´t grow under our floor, as it often does, so we should pass muster on that.
Now, if we could just get the clutter sprayed. . .
P.S. If you don´t want to/can´t run a dehumidifier, try DampRid. Seriously. I found some at WalMart online and bought enough so I qualified for free shipping. The stuff actually works. I´ll stock up well for hurricane season, make sure I´m ready if we have a storm and lose power. Keep the crystals out of reach of curious children and pets, though.

#21, calcium chloride has been used, mixed with water, as an anti-freeze in concrete years ago. It is still used to melt ice on walks and driveways. It is nothing new. But as for its moisture absorbing qualities, I don´t thin it is anywhere near as effective as a dehumidifier. The moisture it absorbs can readily be re-absorbed in the air if left uncovered. If you want to use it, check the price on ice melt. It could possibly be cheaper than those buckets. As for treating an area, a better gauge than square feet would be cubic feet. Air doesn´t hang next to the floor, so the whole area, including the height of the room, has to be taken into consideration.

One of the first political issues negotiators must tackle in crafting an immigration reform bill is among the most important: what to name it. It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. The wrong name, he warned, could doom a good bill. “If there´s not a

President Obama is eager to build public support for his health care overhaul in the few months remaining before its implementation, but waning enthusiasm from Democrats threatens his effort right out of the gate. Two-thirds of Democrats now believe Obama´s health care reforms will either hurt them personally or have no effect on their daily lives, a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows. In comparison, just 27 percent of Democratic respondents said the reforms would help them. The president has long struggled to convince independent and Republican-leaning voters that his health care blueprint would lower premiums and expand insurance coverage.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.” Source and text corrected by Staff.
