Obama´s Apparent Pick for

Atlantic Wire, by Adam Clark Estes

As he continues to fill out his cabinet, a report emerged late Wednesday that President Obama is "close to choosing" Chicago billionaire Penny Pritzker as America´s next Secretary of Commerce. There´s only one problem. She and her secretive family have been caught up in some pretty dodgy commercial ventures including but not limited to dodging taxes and running a bank that specialized in subprime mortgages. Scandal potential aside, Penny Pritzker makes good sense as Obama´s pick for Commerce Secretary. She´s engaged in commerce, first of all — like, a lot of it. Having been born into the family that

What a shock. We have another corrupt loser nominated by 0bama on this woman?? Aside from the bank scandal does anyone remember her hotel hosting an Ahmadinejad dinner when she was 0bama´s finance chairwoman? She´s a criminal and a loser! Every day it just gets worse with this regime. It is really shocking.

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., blasted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., on the Senate floor for restricting amendments to the omnibus spending bill and bitterly denounced the legislative process. "So we have one person out of 100 [who] decides what amendments will be acceptable and what aren´t," Coburn said, referring to Reid. "Jefferson has got to be spinning in his grave, because he wrote the original rules of the Senate." Coburn reminded his Senate colleagues that the amendment process was an essential part of the bill process as it encouraged negotiation to generate consensus. "When we have a czar running the Senate

There are a lot of people who are sending out resumes every single day, but the market, the job market is still tough in pockets around the country. And people need support, a little help so they can look after their families while they´re looking for a new job. A program to refund insurance companies for losses incurred during the implementation of President Obama’s health care law could impose significant costs on American taxpayers, but under regulations issued by the Department of Health and Human Services, those costs won’t be known until the summer of 2015. Republicans led by Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Rep. Tim Griffin of Arkansas have called for repealing what’s known as the risk corridors program, which has also been described as a bailout of the insurance industry. Under the program, insurers have to estimate the amount of money they expect to pay out in

If the Rev. Wright, Obama’s former pastor, called for King’s “revolution of values” and a rejection of the “three-headed demon” of “racism, militarism and capitalism” — the foundations of Western society, he said. “Every Tuesday morning, there’s a kill list that the president decides who they’re going to kill this week,” Wright said. Washington´s political reporters, in lightning knee-jerk speed, have embraced President Obama´s Robin Hood war on “income inequality,” the latest example of the president´s success in using the bully pulpit to steer attention to his new populist campaign. The issue took center stage Wednesday during a briefing from the nonpartisan Business Roundtable meant to focus on the group´s agenda to push economic growth from 2 percent to 4 percent, but instead saw several reporters pestering the group´s president and chairman about the minimum wage and income distribution. At first, Randall Stephenson, the Roundtable chairman and CEO of AT&T, and Roundtable President

In Nelson Mandela´s celebrated 1994 autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom, the late South African leader and Nobel laureate was careful to distance himself from communism. However, in the original manuscript--quietly published online in 2011 and 2012, and only recently noticed--Mandela openly sympathizes with communism and the Soviet Union, and calls the "US brand" of "imperialism" the "most loathsome and contemptible." Mandela´s original text, smuggled out of prison by fellow inmate Mac Mararaj (now the official spokesperson for South Africa´s fourth democratic president, Jacob Zuma), was written in the 1970s amidst a period of decline in American power, scholar James Myburgh notes

Black dogs don´t get as adopted as easily as others animals of other colors. The reason is largely because of some common misconceptions about them. Black dogs are mischaracterized as mean and potentially violent and according to NBC News. Black Dog Syndrome is a phenomenon in which dogs with black fur often go unadopted because of misinformed stereotypes. Black dogs are are euthanized at a much higher rate than dogs with different complexions. Many owners of black dogs say they are sweet, lovable, but also unwanted. The chances of being adopted are poor if you´re a black dog.
