Casa de Campo, exclusive
Dominican resort, is at the
center of Menendez allegations

Washington Post, by Manuel Roig-Franzia

CASA DE CAMPO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — Everyone is someone, it’s said, at Casa de Campo. And such someones. Dominican real estate tycoons. Venezuelan oil honchos. Cuban American sugar barons. European heirs and heiresses. “Her husband was the founder of Monster.com; he died,” Rebecca Hughes, who runs a local Web site, CasadeCampoLiving.com, confides one languid tropical afternoon, gesturing matter-of-factly toward a tall woman strolling across a stone walkway. In this ultra-exclusive, 7,000-acre redoubt — less gated community and resort than gated alternate planet — discretion is everything.

Melendez sure makes the best out of a $175,000 salary.Tropical resorts designed for only the fattest of the fat cats had him there as a regular guest.

I wonder once he gets there if there´s a parade of underage girls he gets to pick from?

At this point no one knows how young the youngest ones were and places like this thrive on their secrecy,so it´s a tough nut to crack.

Even aside from the girls,Melendez had to be taking a lot more under the table cash than he finally reported.

What´s funny is the media is doing random acts of journalism on this and Obama´s drone policy.

I have been a guest several times. You do not need to be a fat cat to visit. Is being portrayed this way because is owned by big contributors ie. republican fat cats.

Menendez flew with the good doctor FOUR times, not two. The Clinton´s have built or are building a mansion in the Dominican Republic. Didn´t Charlie Rangle spend a lot of time and money there. I think he owns property there too. Isn´t it wonderful that our poorest politicians can go to Washington and become millionaires on our dime? We are the most generous and ignorant people on earth. What a scam Congress is!

Now that key details of Wendy Davis’s oft-celebrated rags-to-riches story have been exposed as less than accurate, how have the media decided to report on the revelations? Well, most outlets have treated her admitted fabrications as news, although some have been noticeably generous in their framing of the issue. “Wendy Davis tells a fuller version of her rags-to-riches story,” CBS News tweeted on Monday. CNN observed that Davis’s life story is now “more complicated” than the “compelling narrative” she had originally presented. MSNBC was quick to cast the story from an anti-GOP angle: “Right pounces on news that Wendy Davis embellished

Yesterday, THE WEEKLY STANDARD reported on the New York City human rights commission´s dubious case against seven business owners in the Hasidic community Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The commission alleged that these Jewish stores were guilty of religious and sexual discrimination for posting dress code signs requiring "No Shorts, No Barefoot, No Sleeveless, No Low Cut Neckline," and the stores were facing $75,000 in potential fines. The commission had already been slapped down last year by an administrative judge for alleging that the posted dress code was an attempt by the Orthodox Jewish business owners to impose their religion on others—after all,

LONDON — What if they held an Olympics and nobody came? The situation isn´t that bleak, of course, for the Sochi Games. Yet, with less than three weeks to go until the opening ceremony, hundreds of thousands of tickets remain unsold, raising the prospect of empty seats and a lack of atmosphere at Russia´s first Winter Olympics. There are signs that many foreign fans are staying away, turned off by terrorist threats, expensive flights and hotels, long travel distances, a shortage of tourist attractions in the area, and the hassle of obtaining visas and spectator passes. BOSTON -- Snow blowers whirred and shovels scraped across sidewalks as the Northeast tried to keep up with a winter storm that swirled up the coast, creating blizzard conditions on Cape Cod, disrupting government work in Washington and leaving behind it bitter Canadian cold that sapped fuel supplies. The huge storm stretched from Kentucky to New England but hit hardest along the heavily populated Interstate 95 corridor between Philadelphia and Boston. Snow began falling midmorning Tuesday in Philadelphia and had dumped as much as 13.5 inches by midnight, with New York seeing almost as much. Manalapan, N.J., had the highest snowfall

Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, liked to live large. The couple was indicted in a federal court on Tuesday on federal corruption charges for allegedly illegally accepting dozens of expensive gifts and donations from a wealthy friend. The indictment alleges that the McDonnells used the governor’s position to try to help Jonnie Williams, the CEO of dietary supplement company Star Scientific, in exchange for lavish gifts and donations. The former governor, who left office earlier this month, maintains he did nothing illegal in his interactions with Williams. Many of the indictment’s most shocking details focus on the activities

The two were charged in connection with their relationship with dietary supplement executive Jonnie R. In exchange, they alleged the McDonnells worked in concert to lend the prestige of the governorship to Williams’s struggling company, a

President Obama’s latest claims about marijuana are contradicted by research and official positions of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, which is part of the White House. And Mr. Obama’s words have anti-drug leaders worried about negative repercussions among youth. Mr. Obama claimed to The New Yorker magazine that marijuana is no worse than cigarettes or alcohol and he promoted state efforts by Colorado and Washington to legalize marijuana, which remains illegal under federal law. The National Drug Control Policy’s official stance, posted on the whitehouse.gov website, says the opposite of Mr. Obama on all counts. For example, as documented in agency

Walter Timpone, a Christie-linked attorney whom Kelly retained after her public firing, received the subpoena served on her Friday by a New Jersey Assembly special investigative committee. Are you dazed and confused by Barack Obama, the nominal Democrat, whose conduct as president since 2009 has seen him sink from nearly 70 percent to 40 percent or less in the national polling, from which he has seemed to learn nothing, but still marches on? Fear not, the doctor is in: Fred Siegel of the Manhattan Institute, whose latest book, The Revolt Against The Masses: How Liberalism Has Undermined the Middle Class, explains all you wanted to know about Obama, and much else. It explains why he never became the new Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy or Lyndon B.

The bare-bones Wendy Davis story — the one without embellishment — is sufficiently inspiring as a matrix for defying expectations. The daughter of a teenage mother and a teenage mother herself, Davis managed to beat the odds by getting a college education and Ivy League law degree, then launching a political career that’s brought her national adulation. But since Davis’ Democratic gubernatorial ambitions caught fire last year, “facts have been blurred” in the retelling of her life’s story, as reported Sunday by this newspaper’s senior political writer, Wayne Slater.

Time Magazine’s current cover depicts a tiny man hanging onto the heel of a shoe that’s emerging from a pant-suit wearing leg. “Can Anyone Stop Hillary?” reads the accompanying text. Maybe, if the cover also showed her tripping over the Senate Intelligence Committee’s just-released report on the attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, while she was secretary of state. If New Jersey Governor Chris Christie must answer for four days of traffic jams on roads leading to the George Washington Bridge, surely Clinton has the same obligation to address a deadly assault that the bipartisan committee found “preventable.”
