Obama will allow lawmakers
to see secret memo
on targeted killings

Washington Post, by Karen DeYoung and Greg Miller

President Obama yielded Wednesday to congressional demands that he provide access to a secret legal memo on the targeted killing of American terrorism suspects overseas, avoiding a confrontation that threatened the confirmation of John O. Brennan as his new CIA director. Obama directed the Justice Department to hand over the document to the two intelligence committees “as part of the president’s ongoing commitment to consult with Congress on national security matters,” an administration official said.

Are we supposed to be grateful that at least they´re not planning untargeted killings?

Can´t help wondering whose names are on the list. (I trust that wasn´t distributed as a memo...)

I want them to investigate where the names on the kill list originate. I have a suspicion that The Muslim Brotherhood either provides the targets or is given approval options on the targets.

Recall that years ago, and I spent the last 15 minutes looking for online verification but failed, that part of the Weather Underground manifesto was to eliminate unnecessary people in the U.S. There was a bar set, a number, of ´´acceptable´´ human lives to be sacrificed in order to attain the perfect world communism.

They´ve already redefined ´terrorist´ to encompass returning veterans, and patriots, TEA party conservatives, and constitutionalists (specifically 2nd Amendment supporters). How long before the word ´overseas´ disappears from this order?

The select Congressmen ALLOWED to see this memo will not be offered a copy, nor will they be ALLOWED to snapshot it. What they see today could very well be rewritten as desired and whoever later claims that this or that was not there, will be accused of merely faulty memory.

And there we´ll be....

Collateral damage? Any sentient being would be wary of living with or even near a big time Jihadi. If you are a passenger in in a stolen car and the driver has a gun and starts firing at the police chasing them, you are likely to be ´collateral damage." Let´s get a process to review the list of targets -- a review that includes the judiciary and has approval of the Congress. A ´constitutional law´ instructor ought to know this.

Sorry Jebediah, "Its good to be king" was Mel Brooks, not Monty Python. The sentiment is very apropos however.

I don´t necessarily disagree with using drones to take out those who have declared that they are at war with the United States, including traitorous Americans who give aid and comfort to our enemies. I am however totally astounded at the sheer hypocracy of the current regime. If this were George Bush the left would be screaming for his head on a pike. Instead King Zippy gets a pass from the propaganda wing of the Zippy regime, also known as the media.

I agree with number 23, where´s the authority? Spell this out! Where´s Congress??? What the heck???
Are we still in a war or not??? I thought the war was over.
This isn´t a post partial birth abortion we´re talking about here!
Upon whose authority are these actions being taken? Who has oversight as a check or balance? Who is answerable to "We the People"?
That´s why the Founders created the separate branches.
I now expect the news media not to tell the story, but that doesn´t mean the story doesn´t need to be told.
Congress you have an additional job to play in that role now that the media has abdicated their spot.
Congress, is this what you intended? The President is the executive. He is not the sovereign. If anything is closer to the sovereign, the People´s House is! And being constitutionally "learned", he knows it. Congress, House of Representatives, you´re the ones closest to the people. The ones who have to stand for election most frequently. Please get to work! Or tell us why you´re allowing this to occur.
I hope we see a real leader step up...

#33 I hate to hear anyone say that zippy is right about anything unless he decides on self euthanasia. But Dr. K is right, however the circumstances were quite different, there was an actual war going on right here on our turf, and those times would be the same as today if armed people were marching in the streets of NY and shooting people who live there because they weren´t wearing gray outfits, the police or any representatives of the people. But Zips war is the equivalent of saying about any citizen "I think he is one of them so kill him just in case."

I think that the people who voted for Obama don´t even know this is going on, They don´t read or hear the news as they are "very low information voters" and really don´t care what happens in this country as long as they get their food stamps and welfare check every month. They probably don´t even listen to the news on those phones Obama gave them and if they do, they only hear the liberal bias news media so they still don´t know anything. Our goose is cooked - there is nothing we can do about it - ever.

On its present course, the Supreme Court will ultimately overrule its 1976 decision in Buckley v. Valeo, the landmark case upholding campaign finance “reform” legislation. It can’t come too soon, because Buckley expressly ignored the First Amendment’s injunction that “Congress shall make no law .?.?. abridging the freedom of speech.” Instead of free speech, we now have regulated speech that has ensnarled elections in a web of bizarre and opaque rules. Last week, in McCutcheon et al. v. Federal Election Commission, the court began edging away from Buckley by striking down one of its limits on free speech. The details

How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

A new review is questioning the effectiveness of two key drugs enlisted in the fight against influenza and in turn the investments by governments to stockpile the drugs in the event of a global flu outbreak. The antiviral drugs Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir ) are commonly used to treat influenza in healthy adults and children. In the case of Tamiflu, the drug does shorten symptoms of influenza by about half a day - as the manufacturer suggests - but there is insufficient evidence to support claims that it reduces hospital admissions or serious complications, such as confirmed pneumonia or

Although the news media and Hollywood relish telling stories about horrific crimes and serial killers, they are strangely silent about Dr. Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist who killed living, viable babies by snipping their spinal cords with scissors, and who is “America’s most prolific serial killer,” said actor Kevin Sorbo and his wife Sam Jenkins in a video to promote funding for a movie about Gosnell. “Kermit Gosnell is America’s most prolific serial killer,” says Kevin Sorbo, who starred in the TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. “For more than three decades he was an abortion doctor in Philadelphia, where he

Barack Obama got quite the handful on Thursday, April 10, but it was all for a good cause! As the President of the United States was boarding Air Force One with his wife Michelle Obama, a gust of wind blew up her skirt. Barack quickly stepped in and grabbed the First Lady´s billowing skirt to help her avoid a wardrobe malfunction and embarrassing Marilyn Monroe moment. Earlier in the week, another famous lady on the global stage suffered a similar snafu, but no one was around to help her -- not even her prince!

Eric Holder ventured off script in a speech Wednesday to the National Action Network, the organization led by MSNBC host and recently-exposed FBI informant Al Sharpton. “I’m pleased to note that the last five years have been defined by significant strides and by lasting reforms,” said Holder at the conference of black activists, before improvising “even in the face, even in the face, of unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly, and divisive adversity.” “If you don’t believe that, if you look at the way, forget about me, forget about me, if you look at the way the attorney general of the United States was treated

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) could face up to five years in federal prison for obstructing a Congressional proceeding. On Wednesday, Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and five Subcommittee Chairmen on the committee sent a letter to Ranking Member Cummings demanding an explanation for his staff’s queries from the IRS, why the Minority hid these efforts from the Majority, and why the Ranking Member denied such actions by his staff at a February Subcommittee hearing: “Although you have previously denied that your staff made inquiries to the IRS about conservative organization True the Vote that may have led to additional

As a former President of The Most Powerful Country In The World, George W Bush has significantly greater access to world leaders than most budding artists. (Snip) Art critics have pointed out that a number of the 30 portraits in the exhibition appear to be based on images thrown up by a cursory search of the person´s name in Google Images. In some cases the portrait seems to have been based on the very first image result on the search engine. Rather remarkably, even the portrait of his own father, someone who he surely could have asked to sit for him, appears to be based on an Associated Press portrait which appears on the first page of

This morning I clicked on a link to a Red State website article concerning “The War on Women” and “Paycheck Equality” and got quite a surprise (the same thing happens when a Firefox user goes directly to the article). Nanny Firefox posted a political opinion on my screen before allowing me to proceed to read the article. This message didn’t appear when I accessed a second article which met with Firefox’s political commissar’s approval. Here’s what Firefox said: Careful Now! (shouldn’t they have said “Achtung! or “Verboten!” or something similar?). This website could not be displayed by Firefox because it is not
