Rubio to deliver GOP response
to Obama State of the Union

The Hill [Washington DC], by Daniel Strauss

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will deliver the Republican response to President Obama´s State of the Union address on February 12. Rubio´s response will be delivered in both English and Spanish, according to House Speaker John Boehner´s (R-Ohio) office. "Marco Rubio is one of our party’s most dynamic and inspiring leaders. He carries our party’s banner of freedom, opportunity and prosperity in a way few others can. His family’s story is a testament to the promise and greatness of America," Boehner said in a statement on Wednesday.

Am I alone in thinking Boy Rubio is our affirmative-action mistake? Sick, sick, sick to death of never-had-a-real-job fair-haired politicians-for-life, and this guy will be around for sixty years. Sheesh!!

Let´s see... I think the speech might go something like, "i don´t like some of the things you are doing, but you are right on with helping those poor latinos who happen to be here, not because they broke any laws. They just like our country and it´s jobs, welfare, free college (for immigrants only), and we shouldn´t look down on them. They deserve to have a path to citizenship, and the current plan that I like is that they actually receive amnesty, and none will never be deported, no matter. We can easily shove this down the throats of the stupid party´s voters."

Learning that RINOs are not only politicians, but regular "republicans" too. Oh yeah - those would be the ones who continue to defend the indefensible.

#3, I´m with you. GOP chicks like to feel good about themselves --- they watch Oprah and are suckers for an exotic suit and a biography. There is nothing compelling about Rubio other than that. But he is not a white male, so he´s got that going for him. AA card allows him to cut amnesty deals with Schumer and Durbin and McCain and everyone in the GOP is expected to go along with it. I´d like to see a white guy try that. HA!

I am really get sick of all the negativity on this forum lately. I have been here for 13+ years (nearly the beginning) and can´t believe how so many people are becoming so cynical, bigoted, and just all around negative BEFORE they know anything. You remember the saying about the word "assume", don´t you?... Anyway, I think it is great Rubio is repeating his response in Spanish for all those voters who never get a chance to hear our side and whose English is limited. Say what you want, but is it too much to ask folks to try to keep somewhat of an open mind? It is starting to sound like a bunch of grouchy old people talking about their health going downhill in a retirement home.

FYI, I´ve been around for those 13+ years also. You´ve probably got me beat on the number of posts. However, my comment wasn´t based on anything but FACTS.

I happen to live in CA a state that now counts WHITES (English speaking) as a Minority.

I don´t know where ´Others´ live, but rest assured you will become one of us minorities sooner than you think.

So, go ahead and feel superior in your enlightenment -- I live with that $rap every day out here.

I didn´t say a thing about WHAT he was going to say. And as far as those people that can´t speak or understand English - why is he even trying to communicate with them. How could they be citizens? If citizens, how the heck can they vote if they can´t read the freaking ballot?

Okay, blast away with your mouth wide open in astoundment and justice.

Just for information Hispanics are not a single race but a blend and because the USA is a melting pot of ethnic cultures Mr. Rubio with his Cuban ethnic background is mostly Causasoid ( white)so stop the racial slurs.
He is ethnic pure enough to represent his country. He was born a citizen just like most the detractors.
I personally hope that the GOP walks in mass out of the State address if Obe makes even one anti comment. Mr. Rubio then can can hammer him.

Funny how people take it personally when no one was even talking about or to them... No, I don´t think I´m superior. I just miss the days when there was not so much negativity. We used to look for solutions more than just complain. I am a native white Californian, 100% english-speaking (except the little Spanish & Swedish I learned in school) who is half Spanish in ethnicity and half Northern European too. Yes, I am a "minority" and have been all my life. But what does that have to do with Rubio giving a second speech in Spanish so others can understand what we (on the right) have to say? Nothing. Everyone should learn English, but not everyone does or they don´t always learn it well enough. BTW, my poor grandma forgot her English when she got old (and she was from Texas!). But she did learn it at one time. Hey, don´t feel bad...I still love you guys!

My choice would be Cruz. He has something special for a rookie senator. He speaks to the issues clearly, and is surefooted. and unless he is crushed by the republican leadership in the senate, he will make a major contribution to our country.
Bobby Jindal made the mistake of listening to republican operatives when he made that presentation. If hed just spoken his mind, in his own way of talking, he would have been successful.

The negativity would be because for four years we conservatives have had a finger stuck in our eye daily. We have a faux president who has no intention of proving his eligibility to serve in the office and laughs at anyone who pushes the issue. He is wrecking our country and stealing our liberties daily. We have no electeds with the spines to stand up against him and make him do what is right. Our country is going to Hell in a handcart and he is out daily on AF-1 burning up our assets and acting like he is still on the campaign trail. He robs the citizens to pay his followers and bundlers. I can´t even put to words all that he has done, is doing and will do before the next four years are up, and for some reason I expect him to have a third term. You betcha, I´m negative.

Well, you can complain about Rubio´s stance on illegal immigration and the dearth of politicians willing to stand against Obama on principle all you want. But don´t forget - the people in Washington respond to what they perceive to be in their interest, and there are simply not enough down-the-line conservatives left around to beat back the tide. There is no longer any Silent Majority out there waiting to be heard from. So why should anyone be surprised when a guy like Rubio looks at the political terrain and tries to make the best of it?

The context for this little chestnut of racial nastiness was a heated floor debate in the Illinois legislature over a proposed education reform bill. The fireworks started when Democratic Representative Linda Chapa LaVia, who is Hispanic, delivered a speech criticizing charter schools. Ms. Chapa LaVia was no doubt casting aspersions on behalf of teachers unions — who’ve contributed heavily to her campaigns, are bankrupting the state, and don’t much care for competition. How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

A caveat right off the bat: RAND’s estimate only runs through March 28 whereas the actual deadline for signing up was March 31st. Given the crush of traffic on Healthcare.gov in late March, many more people could have signed up over those last three days than were captured by these numbers. On the other hand, the White House was claiming six million sign-ups as of March 27. There’s no way to reconcile that with RAND’s data. One of them is wrong. Maybe both, in fact. A new review is questioning the effectiveness of two key drugs enlisted in the fight against influenza and in turn the investments by governments to stockpile the drugs in the event of a global flu outbreak. The antiviral drugs Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir ) are commonly used to treat influenza in healthy adults and children. In the case of Tamiflu, the drug does shorten symptoms of influenza by about half a day - as the manufacturer suggests - but there is insufficient evidence to support claims that it reduces hospital admissions or serious complications, such as confirmed pneumonia or

Although the news media and Hollywood relish telling stories about horrific crimes and serial killers, they are strangely silent about Dr. Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist who killed living, viable babies by snipping their spinal cords with scissors, and who is “America’s most prolific serial killer,” said actor Kevin Sorbo and his wife Sam Jenkins in a video to promote funding for a movie about Gosnell. “Kermit Gosnell is America’s most prolific serial killer,” says Kevin Sorbo, who starred in the TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. “For more than three decades he was an abortion doctor in Philadelphia, where he

Eric Holder ventured off script in a speech Wednesday to the National Action Network, the organization led by MSNBC host and recently-exposed FBI informant Al Sharpton. “I’m pleased to note that the last five years have been defined by significant strides and by lasting reforms,” said Holder at the conference of black activists, before improvising “even in the face, even in the face, of unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly, and divisive adversity.” “If you don’t believe that, if you look at the way, forget about me, forget about me, if you look at the way the attorney general of the United States was treated

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) could face up to five years in federal prison for obstructing a Congressional proceeding. On Wednesday, Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and five Subcommittee Chairmen on the committee sent a letter to Ranking Member Cummings demanding an explanation for his staff’s queries from the IRS, why the Minority hid these efforts from the Majority, and why the Ranking Member denied such actions by his staff at a February Subcommittee hearing: “Although you have previously denied that your staff made inquiries to the IRS about conservative organization True the Vote that may have led to additional

Barack Obama got quite the handful on Thursday, April 10, but it was all for a good cause! As the President of the United States was boarding Air Force One with his wife Michelle Obama, a gust of wind blew up her skirt. Barack quickly stepped in and grabbed the First Lady´s billowing skirt to help her avoid a wardrobe malfunction and embarrassing Marilyn Monroe moment. Earlier in the week, another famous lady on the global stage suffered a similar snafu, but no one was around to help her -- not even her prince!

As a former President of The Most Powerful Country In The World, George W Bush has significantly greater access to world leaders than most budding artists. (Snip) Art critics have pointed out that a number of the 30 portraits in the exhibition appear to be based on images thrown up by a cursory search of the person´s name in Google Images. In some cases the portrait seems to have been based on the very first image result on the search engine. Rather remarkably, even the portrait of his own father, someone who he surely could have asked to sit for him, appears to be based on an Associated Press portrait which appears on the first page of

This morning I clicked on a link to a Red State website article concerning “The War on Women” and “Paycheck Equality” and got quite a surprise (the same thing happens when a Firefox user goes directly to the article). Nanny Firefox posted a political opinion on my screen before allowing me to proceed to read the article. This message didn’t appear when I accessed a second article which met with Firefox’s political commissar’s approval. Here’s what Firefox said: Careful Now! (shouldn’t they have said “Achtung! or “Verboten!” or something similar?). This website could not be displayed by Firefox because it is not
