Why Does the Media Go
Easy on Barack Obama?

Atlantic, by Conor Friedersdorf

Original Article

Posted By:drive, 2/6/2013 3:40:39 PM

Allegations of liberal media bias are almost constant in the conservative press, but their intensity has increased since President Obama and Hillary Clinton appeared together on 60 Minutes, where interviewer Steve Kroft posed "softball" questions that were almost comically obsequious. "Mr. Kroft, as embarrassing as his interview was, is merely symptomatic of a larger phenomenon: the unprecedented swooning and cheerleading by the press for Barack Obama," Peter Wehner wrote in Commentary, echoing an argument voiced by many on the right. He posits that the rise of conservative media outlets like Fox News may have triggered a liberal backlash.

His party is so afraid of being called ´racist´ that they bend over backwards to say anything complimentary...Fox has nothing to do with it because they talk about every subject and do not show sides....

Because they´re afraid of being cut off, or out, of any possible access, and leaked information.

If you don´t have sources, and can´t get access, then what good are you to your paper, or TV station?

So, they dutifully report what they´re told to report.
They don´t investigate what they´re told not to investigate.

B. They turn to their twitter feed for direction and focus.
C. They refuse to do their job.

Why they refuse to do their job is really the only thing that´s debatable. My current take is our press is as low -info as Democrat voters AND they´re conceited. Big heads filled with fluffernutter. To steal a line from previous thread ´´not bringing the potato salad to the next Mensa picnic ´´.

And you can´t have a discussion about the media without at least acknowledging they have real contempt for points of view not simpatico with aforementioned twitter feed. It was never George Bush they hated

“…the rise of conservative media outlets like Fox News…” Oh, yeah? If that were so, why is FNC chockablock with liberals? “Fair & Balanced” is not just some empty slogan. It’s substantiated by its vast cadre of outspoken Democrats, many of whom get plenty of screen and mic exposure several times per week. Contrast that with CNN and MSNBC. The comparisons are incomparable.

There is runaway political correctness underway in the national TV industry, and the TV media knows that they must give Obama a pass, or even risk their individual jobs.

The reason for that is Obama is a black man, and you can safely bet that there is no white man alive in America today, who when serving as President, would be lobbed the number of slow balls that the media has tossed at Obama.

That´s true for just about all the presentations shown on TV today to the general public. If you were to stay locked at home for any time period and continuously watched TV it would not be long from what you see on TV, that you would mistakenly think that black people make up a big majority of the population of this country, when in actuality they are only about 11% to 13%, and that black culture is the dominant social culture throughout the USA. That´s all because of political correctness.

Because they are fools, not journalists or reporters, and they no longer care about informing the public. One can understand that it was a memorable occasion for a minority member to become President, but at some point, his policies have to be more important than his color. The media have never caught up. and seemingly never will. Very distressing that highly paid media people do NOT do what they are paid to do, and that is QUESTION the Government´s policies. They can start with killing by drone.

Please see the testimony of Chris Rock.
Why does Rock support Obama?
Because he is Rock´s daddy, that´s why.
We have a vast "culture" in this country which desires a Glorious Leader. One like Stalin or Mao. One like Hitler or Mussolini.
They have found their GL in Zippy. So they bow down and worship him.
Chris Matthews told us this four years ago.
Zero reminds me of the potentates who had no need to walk on the ground; instead the peasants were required to lie on the ground so the ruler could step on their bodies. That is now called leadership.
Gross.
Disgusting.
Regrettable.

In June 2001, President George W. Bush and Vladimir Putin ended their first face-to-face meeting with an outdoor news conference beneath a craggy mountaintop in Slovenia. "Is this a man that Americans can trust?" I asked Bush as Putin glared at me. "Yes," Bush replied, before allowing Putin to answer a separate question. A few minutes later, Bush elaborated: "I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. "Thirteen Russian aircraft landed at the airport of Gvardeyskoye (near Simferopol) with 150 people in each one," Sergiy Kunitsyn, the Ukrainian president´s special representive in Crimea, told the local ATR television channel, adding the air space had been closed. SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine — Ukraine accused Russia of a "military invasion and occupation" on Friday, saying Russian troops have taken up positions around a coast guard base and two airports on its strategic Crimean peninsula. Russia kept silent on those accusations but confirmed that armored vehicles from its Black Sea Fleet were moving around Crimea for "security" reasons as the crisis deepened between two of Europe´s largest countries. Any Russian military incursion in Crimea would dramatically raise the stakes in Ukraine´s conflict, which saw pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych flee last weekend after three months of anti-government protests.

As a gay conservative woman, I supported Arizona’s religious freedom bill, which was just vetoed this week by Gov. Jan Brewer. I supported it because it embodied the values every American civil rights movement stood for: the freedom to live our lives without being punished for who we are. In this case, it was a bill making sure people of faith would not be forced to violate their religious beliefs in the event someone demanded they do so. This bill, like others across the country, was thought necessary because of the emergence of business, large and small, being attacked by the

President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. "Russia is going to lose, the Russian people are going to lose, and he´s going to lose all of the glow that came out of the Olympics, his $60 billion extravaganza." Besides speaking on "Meet the Press," Kerry also spoke about the situation in Ukraine on ABC´s "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" and CBS´s

President Obama spoke for 90 minutes with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the United States, its top European partners and the U.N. Security Council spent the day trying to fashion a response to the rapid escalation of the Ukraine crisis after Russian troops took up positions throughout the autonomous republic of Crimea. Obama expressed “deep concern,” the White House said, and called on Russia to withdraw its forces back to its bases in Crimea and “to refrain from any interference elsewhere in Ukraine.” Putin appeared to have given little ground, according to a readout of the conversation from his office.
