The Mysterious Office on
Metrocentre Boulevard

Washington Free Beacon, by Mary Lou Byrd

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/6/2013 12:30:11 PM

The offices of Dr. Salomon Melgen raided by the FBI and the Department of Health and Human Services last week served as the postal address of 11 mysterious companies linked to the ophthalmologist, who is now the subject of two federal investigations into allegations of Medicare fraud and public corruption. The wealthy donor to Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) runs his eye center from offices at 2521 Metrocentre Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida. That address is also listed in the Florida secretary of state records for seven active companies and four now-defunct businesses.

A radical-leftist American Indian who was convicted of abducting, confining, and beating four postal workers during a militant crime spree has died. The New York Times began its report of his death by first listing all of the wrongs American Indians suffered at the hands of the U.S. government 100 years prior to the thug’s crimes, as though they somehow provided context or excused the man´s illegal and violent behavior. Carter Camp, a radical and violent leader of the American Indian Movement (AIM), an American Indian version of the former Black Panther Party, took up arms in 1973 against the

Details from an extraordinary exchange of letters between a Nottingham care worker and the alleged architect of the 9/11 attacks can be revealed in the Observer today, offering an unprecedented insight into the mind of one the world´s most notorious Islamists. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, 49, who is held at Guantánamo Bay, has endured the harshest of the CIA´s interrogation methods and allegedly confessed to a career of atrocities. Pre-trial hearings before a military commission are due to be held at Guantánamo next month. On Monday, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia slammed President Barack Obama’s interpretation of the U.S. Constitution during oral arguments over Recess appointments. The case, National Labor Relations Board vs. Noel Canning, is over whether the president acted legally when he made a series of temporary appointments to the National Labor Relations Board while the Senate was not conducting business but still gavelling in and out every day. Clause three of the Constitution’s section on presidential powers states that, “The president shall have power to fill up all vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate, by granting commissions

Katie Couric made her Yahoo News debut Monday with an in-depth interview with former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, whose new book, Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War has caused a massive stir for its criticisms of the Obama Administration. On the White House’s objections to what he wrote, Gates suggested they “look in the mirror.” Gates, wearing a neck brace that is the result of a recent fall, pushed back against those who say he should have waiting until President Barack Obama was out of office to write his memoir, or that the overall tone of the book is negative

Robert Gates has been an extraordinarily distinguished public servant. A recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, he has worked for eight presidents, serving as defense secretary under both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. The nation owes him a deep and enduring debt of gratitude. But his new memoir, “Duty,” raises troubling ethical questions. A former public official has a special obligation -- in fact a duty -- not to betray the confidence of a sitting president, especially in the area of national security. Even if private conversations involve people who are no longer in office, the

Media bias is a topic we hear much about working in the news business and the news-that-covers-the-news business alike. Bias obviously exists, and despite what one side or the other will claim, it is most definitely a two-way street against conservatives and liberals alike…just depends on your network or publication of choice. But objectivity has become such a dirty word in 2014 not because journalists suddenly became activists and advocates. Instead, it’s the same rule that applies to the reason behind anything and everything in this world: Follow the money. And in television and print, money mostly comes in the form

Mayor de Blasio took political fundraising to new extremes during his come-from-behind campaign, a Daily News review has found. Deep-pocket donors showered him with checks far in excess of the usual campaign finance limitations, thanks to loopholes that allowed for double- and even triple-giving. De Blasio was able to raise money on three fronts in the same election cycle: first for his campaign, then for a $300,000 fine he still owed from a 2009 campaign, and finally for his inauguration and transition costs. That meant individual donors limited to giving no more than $4,950 per election cycle were able to give the maximum

In 1994 or early 1995 the still unknown Barack Obama sent his editor at Times Books, Henry Ferris, the first two-thirds of his memoir Dreams from My Father. He told Ferris that to complete the book, he had to return to Kenya to do some research. The evidence strongly suggests that Obama went not to Kenya to do that research but to the local library to do some borderline plagiarizing. In the way of background, Barack and Michelle Obama visited Kenya in the summer of 1992 and married in October of that year. There is little dispute about the timing of

Washington - Just days after dismissing two top advisers for their roles in the George Washington Bridge scandal, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is facing questions over the use of Superstorm Sandy relief funds. CNN has learned that federal officials are investigating whether Christie improperly used those relief funds to produce tourism ads that starred him and his family. The news couldn´t come at a worse time for the scandal-plagued Republican, who is facing two probes into whether his staff tied up traffic near the country´s busiest bridge to punish a Democratic mayor who refused to endorse his successful re-election bid.

Before Chris Christie’s first scandal devolves into an obsessive quest to prove who knew what, when, it’s worth pausing to appreciate the wonderful, quintessential New Jerseyness of the incident itself. What happened, roughly, is this. On August 13, Bridget Anne Kelly, one of Christie’s three deputy chiefs of staff, sent an email to David Wildstein, a Christie confidant serving as an executive for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls much of the transit infrastructure of northern Jersey. Kelly said that it was “time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.” Some speculate that the precipitating

The inspector is focusing on a federally financed $25 million Jersey Shore marketing campaign that
