| Staff writers Scott K. Parks and Haley Thayer report: The Boy Scouts of America board has deferred any decision on its controversial membership policy that bans gays and lesbians from Scouting. Daron Smith, a spokesman for organization’s national headquarters in Irving, released a statement this morning saying that the national board won’t make a decision today on altering the policy. Instead, he said, the Boy Scouts will gather more information and opinions from its stakeholders around the nation and then reconsider the membership policy at its annual meeting in May. The Boy Scouts’ statement follows in full:

The board must find their way out of the closet before they can comment. Sad day for the scouts. So many young boys desire to be one. Just as they imagine being President one day. Little boys still do that, don´t they?

This is not about Scouts, its about Corp. money. If the National Office is so afraid of the possiblity of taking a pay cut that they will destroy Scouting, they need to be removed from the BSA.
No one should ever be approved to be on the National Board who does not understand the BSA Oath and pledges to abide and uphold it.

Use common sense and stand the ground of logical thinking. Our religion, ethics, customs, traditions are under attack. Why are the few so influencial on the many.

If a gay kid wants to join the scouts, he should understand the rules going in and keep it to himself. I´m sick and tired of jerks who feel they have to ´shake things up´ or ´make a statement´. Be free to be you at home.

I think they had already made up their minds to change the policy when they got knocked off their perch by vehement response from the Scouts themselves. The Eagle Scout rank must be completed by age 18. How many boys younger than 18 have convinced themselves they are homosexuals to the point that they feel discriminated against by the phrase "morally straight" in the oath.
The real objection is the word God in the oath, but they knew they´d never win that one.

I think they got the message loud and clear from us. If you do allow homo´s into scouting it will kill scouting just like Canada did with its scouts. I will not support Scouting if they throw away our values. You can bank on that!!!

For a progressive liberal base that has set a beachhead on the subject of how awful Bullying is and demand that it must stop, they sure use a lot of it to get their way. The Supreme Court found that the Scouts as a Private Organization are not discriminating when they set policy like this. So, the left turns to blackmail and bullying.
Scouts should say no. They don´t ban gays from leadership - they ban openly gay leaders with an agenda.

I understand that the Catholic Church and the LDS Church are huge supporters of the BSA.
Practically every LDS congregation has a BSA troop (13,500) which pays dues, etc to the National Headquarters. Either the BSA Board is trying to make sure the LDS Church does not withdraw its support, or it is trying to nail down an additional source of revenue that will make up the difference.
I don´t know the statistics for the Catholic Church, but it´s withdrawal could be just as significant as the LDS Church.

The aim of LGBT is to force capitulation or destroy the organization. Liberals have no concern for what good BSA provides for boys. They feel BSA does not deserve to exist unless it legitimizes them.
Typical evil liberalism.

#4, too late. Money and politics have been aggressively corrupting BSA for some time. Wealthy, pro-gay corporatists have found their way onto the National Board. Top Scouting executives paid up to $815,000 per year. Loss of corporate $$$ is their primary concern at this point. Coming from a devoted Scouting family, it all hurts.

For all her shortcomings and all her talent, one thing is certain: Sarah Palin can draw attention. The love and hate for Palin—depending on which camp you’re in—gives her a gift few possess: The ability to generate a reaction (good or bad), to make people pay attention. Despite her rising unfavorable ratings (58% unfavorable in the latest CNN/ORC poll…a 37-point rise since her 2008 RNC speech), she’s authored two best-sellers, and was named to Time’s “100 Most Influential People,” albeit in 2010. As you may have heard, Ms. Palin just re-signed with Fox

ARDMORE, Pa. -- A cross country flight, little sleep and more weather woes didn´t stop Phil Mickelson from a memorable day at the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club. The five-time U.S. Open runner-up, who returned to California earlier in the week for his daughter´s eighth-grade graduation and didn´t get back to suburban Philadelphia until the wee hours Thursday morning, shot a 3-under 67 to take the clubhouse lead. First-round play, interrupted by two separate rain delays, was suspended due to darkness, with Luke Donald leading at 4 under through 13 holes.

Washington- Syria has crossed a "red line" with its use of chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin gas, against rebels, a move that is prompting the United States to increase the "scale and scope" of its support for the opposition, the White House said Thursday. The acknowledgment is the first time President Barack Obama´s administration has definitively said what it has long suspected -- that President Bashar al-Assad´s forces have used chemical weapons in the ongoing civil war. "The intelligence community estimates that 100 to 150 people have died from detected chemical weapons attacks in Syria

Atheists are outraged that a Bible sits right next to the mayor’s desk, inside a Pinellas Park City Council chamber, and they’re demanding its removal. City officials, however, say that’s a no-go. The Bible’s been there for more than 30 years, and laws don’t prohibit its presence, The Blaze reported. The book was an Oct. 19, 1975, gift to council members from the Kiwanis club, and it’s been a traditional fixture ever since. Freedom From Religion Foundation officials say they don’t care. They sent a letter to city officials, saying the Bible needs to go because it violates

WASHINGTON - D.C. police have been warning bicyclists since March not to ride the Metropolitan Branch Trail alone. And they stepped up patrols on the trail then too. But it didn´t stop a group of teenagers from knocking a 37-year-old Silver Spring man off his bike Tuesday and savagely beating him. Runner Ben Miles was stopped in his tracks by the aftermath. "There were lots of police cars, a fire engine, an ambulance, and there was a guy sitting over there next to the wall, and his face was covered in blood.

The Black Forest fire raging northeast of Colorado Springs is now the most destructive in Colorado State history. El Paso County Sheriffy Terry Maketa said at least 360 homes are complete losses and another 14 already damaged, pushing the damage past the record set by last year´s Waldo Canyon fire which destroyed 347 homes. The fire has now burned 15,000 acres. Continuing difficult conditions kept firefighters from containing the blaze, with little prospect for containment anticipated on Thursday. Maketa said efforts were being concentrated on stopping the west and northwest movement,

Asked what the moral difference is between what Dr. Kermit Gosnell did to babies born alive and aborting those same infants moments before birth, Pelosi refused to answer. "As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this," Pelosi said. "This shouldn´t have anything to do with politics."

Roger Ailes, the chairman and architect of the Fox News Channel, picked up a $250,000 award from a conservative foundation Wednesday night at the Kennedy Center, and served up some red meat to the largely conservative crowd gathered to honor him. The prize came from the Milwaukee-based Bradley Foundation, which honored Ailes and three others with its 10th annual Bradley Prize for promoting public policies consistent with the foundation’s conservative mission (the group’s goals include school choice, welfare reform and limited government). Ailes delighted the full house by slamming President Obama, and liberals in general, in his acceptance speech.

Franks made the comment during a committee mark-up of his late-term abortion ban bill, which is expected pass the House next week. The Republican lawmaker was arguing against a Democratic amendment allowing rape and incest victims to procure abortions. As written, the bill only exempts women whose lives are in danger.
