Backtracking on national cable show (from what I heard) will do nothing to change the first picture painted even tho NYTs changed the article and removed Rove´s name and just left Atty Law as the one responsible for the contents of the article.

Going back to a convention, smoke-filled-room system seems like a really dumb solution. That system is even more easily controlled by a small, powerful group.

Predictably, the Bush diehards always man the barricades whenever a discouraging word is said about their boy; a colossal incompetent who ushered in Obama, just as his father did Clinton. Iraq is Exhibit A. After Kuwait, the USAF had imposed ´no fly zones´ radiating north from Mosul and south from Basra. We had absolute control of the skies and ´killed´ anything that moved, at will. We could easily have shifted those zones and isolated Baghdad as Saddam was defenseless and prostrate. Instead, George the Compassionate opted for a land war which Tommy Franks orchestrated brilliantly in a 100 day helo-tank blitz through the Euphrates/Tigris Valley. The toppling of Saddam´s statue was the decisive moment. So where was the plan to impose our will and pacify Iraq????? There was no plan and the rest is history. The fruits of our victory were squandered and 99.2% of our casualties were sustained after that day. Today Iraq remains a seething cauldron of religious hatred, ethnic violence and economic decay; mute testament to the failure of the Bush Presidency.
