None of us should want a fight over something like fund-raising on the party´s behalf. We´re so focused on witch-hunting for anyone who is not "pure", that we´re in danger of losing opportunities. Every time we look up, another good conservative has been labeled "RINO" for some obscure reason. If you don´t agree with Rove´s group or their choices, nothing prevents others from raising funds for different candidates. I worry that we are degenerating into a bunch of splinter groups with vastly different goals, none of which will be achieved if we´re not smarter about it. When we get past the primaries, then we have to support the winners, even if they aren´t our first preference.

Rove certainly does NOT want a fight; he wants contributions and consulting fees from Republicans AND Tea Partiers.

Suddenly Rovettes want unity. They try to kill off Tea Party sympathizers then say: Kumbayah, can´t we all just get along? Anyone who scorns us grass roots conservatives who have no power or influence and very little money is no better than a Dem. Worse even because of the hypocrisy. If Rove doesn´t want a fight, he needs to stop joining the democrats to kill off weak GOP candidates. Even if weak, better them than a democrat. Fix it next primary, but Rove doesn not need to add voice to the democrats to defeat them.

I believe that, too, #18, but then I saw all the L-Dotters who enthusiastically killed off an electable Mike Castle in favor of a doomed flake, Christine O´Donnell. Their argument was that there are the right kind of Republicans and the wrong kind and the wrong kind shouldn´t be elected. Yes, it makes no logical sense when we are trying to win the Senate, logic doesn´t always apply to some people.

Keep in mind that Rove would give us:

Crist instead of Rubio
Dewhurst instead of Cruz
Murkowski instead of Miller.

The Tea Party would do well to recruit more like Rubio and Cruz who can articulate the conservative case on a broad spectrum of issues and avoid candidates who are primarily focused on social issues. Social conservatives are an important to the cause, but need to campaign on the fiscal issues. With smaller government, we can be more effective in the fight on cultural and social issues.
