Gun crime on the rise in Mass. since 1998 firearms law

| Murders, aggravated assaults, and robberies involving guns have risen dramatically in Massachusetts since the state passed a comprehensive package of gun laws in 1998, the Boston Globe reports. The escalating nationwide gun control debate has posed a variety of reasons for increased crime in stricter states and cities: On the one hand, gun rights groups argue that restricting law-abiding citizens from arming themselves give criminals an advantage. On the other, gun-control advocates argue that strict laws in one state mean nothing if its adjoining state is lax on guns.

Democrat Marxist-Progressives hate people and couldn´t care less how many have to be slaughtered in the holy quest for their gun-free utopia. They would gleefully accept the murder of every child in Massachusetts if it helped them reach their goal.
Democrats are sadistic, cold-hearted monsters.

Amazingly, in 39+ states where gun laws were rationalized to allow easy access to concealed carry permits by honest citizens, crime decreased.
Imagine that.
Leftist hoplophobes get it EXACTLY backwards. AGAIN, like ALL their policies; they make it WORSE.
More guns = LESS crime, you fools.

"..gun-control advocates argue that strict laws in one state mean nothing if its adjoining state is lax on guns." This is a total BS argument. You cannot go to a neighboring state and buy a handgun and bring it back to your state. You must have it sent to an FFL in your state, which then subjects you to the laws of your state. You can do it illegally, but then the laws of your state don´t matter anyway. These gun control idiots don´t have any idea what they are talking about-- but then that´s a lib/democrat.

#4 is correct! the crooks stil obtain weapons and the honest foks get mugged and robbed. Even if guns were completely outlawed the outlaws would still have guns. The federal government could not stop booze and cannot stop even a single type of drug. Outlaws will even build their own guns if they cannot get them any other way. There is only one reason liberals/progressives (communist) want to have gun control and it´s not to protect it´s citizens.

Well, well, well, maybe -- but it woulda been w-a-a-a-y-y worse without that law!
And, and, and -- it´s the fault of all those crazy states that didn´t ban everything!
#3: Well but only because all their guns went to Massachusetts.
[Yes, /s for all the above!]
#2: Not "gun free Utopia," but gun-free [read: gun-denied] private citizens.

One thing we can be grateful for is liberals are the victims of other liberal´s crimes most of the time. The left believes their own BS about certain racial groups being misunderstood or validated in crime because of poverty.
NYC is so out of control right now,the cops don´t have a clue on what to do. One of the reasons is there´s a happy lawyer ready to file a brutality complaint against a cop in a heartbeat.Holder sent out a memo ordering local police to go easy on blacks which handcuffs cops even more..
What´s also happening is Obama´s promise of wealth redistribution isn´t happening fast enough,so people are helping themselves to it.
I said a long time ago retail stores in certain neighborhoods should close because they´re going to get hit with riots, sooner or later.
You can´t even count the ways Obama´s weakness as a person and president is destroying this country.A president needs to be the top moral and authority figure in the country. Obama runs from both these duties. All he cares about is cleaning the clocks of middle class whites.

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

In a poll conducted by PoliceOne, a majority of law enforcement personnel said universal background checks, "assault weapons" bans, and "high capacity" magazine bans do not make police safer and will not lower violent crime. Armed citizens, on the other hand, do make a positive difference. In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.

Vice President Joe Biden gave a heated speech on reducing gun violence this afternoon, lashing out at Republican senators who have vowed to filibuster the gun-control legislation. “It’s almost mind-boggling,” Biden said to law-enforcement officials in Washington, D.C. He asked the senators to consider how their actions are being viewed by the international community: “In sophisticated capitals and in less-sophisticated capitals, they all reported on Sandy Hook, they all reported on Aurora.” “What do you think is being said today in those capitals about us?”

Margaret Thatcher captured Americans’ hearts and minds in a way few other foreign leaders have done, and much of that was because of the symbiotic relationship she had with President Reagan — a relationship that in many ways mirrored the storied “special” friendship between the two countries. Mrs. Thatcher, who died Monday at age 87, was a tough-talking maverick who was bullish on the promise of the U.S. as a force on the international stage. Those traits appealed to Americans weary of the 1970s malaise and eager to hear reasons to believe in themselves. “She had the perfect balance between

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Guess which country is the world’s largest oil producer. No, it’s not Saudi Arabia or Russia. It’s the United States, which passed Saudi Arabia in November of 2012, according to data from the federal Energy Information Administration and reported in Investors Business Daily. In 2012 American domestic output rose by an astonishing 800,000 barrels a day. That’s more than total oil production in such middling oil producers as Argentina, and the greatest single-year increase in the United States since Edwin Drake drilled the first well in 1859. That has consequences far beyond the oil patches

“UNLESS WE change our ways and our direction, our greatness as a nation will soon be a footnote in the history books, a distant memory of an offshore island, lost in the mists of time like Camelot, remembered kindly for its noble past.” Margaret Thatcher, never given to understatement, presented that grim vision for Britain in 1979, the year she became prime minister. Then, for the next 11½ years — almost as long as three U.S. presidential terms — she worked with fierce determination and unrelenting stubbornness to dispel it

Joseph Curl noted in his Sunday column in the Washington Times that many ordinary Americans around the country were upset with the extravagant lifestyles President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and their families are living while most Americans suffer from a still-disastrous economy. “President Obama had another tough week in a second term filled with bad news and blunders — and he’s only 10 weeks in,” Curl wrote. “While the White House suddenly decided to drop its budget Friday in an effort to control the news, there was no covering up the disastrous jobless numbers

A three-minute video of Sarah Merkle’s testimony about Maryland’s new gun legislation has drawn more than 2 million views on YouTube, won her praise from gun rights advocates across the country and even scored her an interview on national television last week. But the 15-year-old from Baltimore said she cares more about her message. “The biggest part of this is that the pro-gun, Second Amendment argument is getting publicity,” she said. “I like that it actually got out there, and not just because it’s me, but because it’s the argument.”

A growing number of senators are trying to quash gun legislation before it even hits the chamber floor as Democrats hold out hope for a compromise and the White House gears up for a weeklong offensive to pressure Congress to act. Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, said as many as 13 senators now publicly support a filibuster on the motion to proceed on pending gun legislation, which effectively would block debate on the bill. “When you’re in a snake pit, you kill a snake any time and chance that you get,”

In interviews on “Fox News Sunday” and ABC’s “This Week,”Dan Pfeiffer, a senior White House adviser, pointed out that 90 percent of Americans support President Obama’s plan to expand background checks on citizens who purchase guns, and he pressured Republicans to get on board with what he said where “common-sense measures.” “You can’t get 90 percent of Americans to agree on the weather,” Mr. Pfeiffer said on “Fox News Sunday.” Mr. Pfeiffer warned that a potential Republican filibuster

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
