Eric Cantor says undocumented
children should be offered citizenship

Yahoo News, by Liz Goodwin

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/5/2013 6:49:10 PM

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., said on Tuesday that the children of illegal immigrants should be granted a path to citizenship, providing a clue about how the GOP-controlled House may tackle immigration reform this year. "A good place to start is with the kids," Cantor said during his speech at the American Enterprise Institute. "One of the great founding principles of our country was that children would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents. It is time to provide an opportunity for legal residence and citizenship for those who were brought to this

Comments:
Well this should give you a really bad feeling about what will happen on the House side on immigration. On Fox tonight Cantor said "children who were brought here due to no fault of their own" which IIRC is the exact Democrat talking point we have heard over and over again. We´re going to get hosed again and the Republicans are too stupid to figure that out. I´m terribly discouraged.

If illegal alien children are offered citizenship, they will bring along their parents, meaning all illegals that brought children are rewarded with a greencard or citizenship

It´s simple. They need to be offered citizenship so that their parents will be related to a citizen and then eligible for citizenship.../s

Wouldn´t that be considered ill-gotten gains?
If a father robs a bank, do the children get to keep the money, even if their father is caught?
This is a very stupid idea. These children are already being educated with us paying the bill. Stop rewarding lawbreaking.

They will still never vote Republican, this is party suicide! Even if Republicans open the border, buy their transportation here and give them citizenship they will NEVER vote Republican. They are used to living as a subject with the government taking care of them, they aren´t interested in personal responsibility or limited government. I´m so sick of the Republican Party and I´m a registered Independant!

Isn´t it true that being born in the US makes you a citizen? The question is then about children brought into the county by their parents. They did not, themselves, violate the law. So, you want to deport some high school student who never lived in Mexico, doesn´t speak Spanish, and believes that America is home? Ok, I know the story, but I really think that deportation is the wrong approach.

So 14 - you should reward them for breaking our laws? I think we should make life difficult enough that they self-deport. And should go to the back of the line to immigrate legally if at all.

What is my impetus for not breaking the law if I can just wait it out?

So sick and tired of the politicians pandering to the illegals. No wonder the illegals and their baby illegals have a sense of entitlement as to the subject of citizenship. Its not fair to those who stood in line and waited their turn at citizenship! All illegal aliens need to return to their home country and do it the legal way after paying a huge fee for breaking the law. These illegals need to go now!!

How do the libs and politicians react?
They reward the illegals with welfare, free schooling, tax rebates on taxes they never paid, free medical care and write official documents in spanish.

They reward the terrorists with the freedom to worship their cult, bend over in submission, refuse to call terrorist attacks terrorist attacks and demand we banish Christianity from America.

How about this, children get citizenship but their parents and all of their relatives are not eligible for citizenship. The children get to stay but the parents must come forward for deportation immediately.

I think if a person goes to Walmart and successfully steals a radio, Walmart should then give that person a large-screen television as a reward for their hard work and willingness to do a "job" that most other Americans won´t do.

The Stupid Party would be setting one heck of a legal precedent if they granted US citizenship to minor illegal aliens just because they were smuggled into the country or were brought here by their illegal alien parents. Once they start to do that, they will encourage a new wave of illegal aliens to come here and bring their children as the Democrats will never allow the Stupid Party to phase out that law.

Once you grant a minor illegal alien child US citizenship, who is then going to have custody of them until they reach the age of majority? Of course it will be their illegal alien parents who then must be given some sort of immigration status (amnesty) to take care of their newly made US citizen child. If those parents have eight other minor foreign born children they will also get to stay here and also be given US citizenship. Then all can go on public assistance and live happily ever after. Since Mexico is loaded with children all their parents would have to do is bring them into the USA, where they will be granted US citizenship and the entire family gets to stay. If the US is going to do that they should just take down the borderline, lay off all the border control agencies, and just let all of Mexico into the USA.

If the Stupid Party goes along with giving minor illegal aliens US citizenship just because they were smuggled into the USA or their illegal alien parents brought them here, the Stupid Party will be committing long-term political suicide, because they will lose a good part of their base, along with the fact that only a small percentage of Mexicans will vote for them when given US citizenship and US voting rights.

No. Wrong.

There already is a "path to citizenship," and plenty have used it!

Congress wasn´t established to give away our sovereignty and security piecemeal, or to anyone from a country whose people aren´t interested enough, or determined enough, to fix their own sorry nation.

#14: There is no birthright citizenship, despite "inventive," agenda-driven "decisions" [read: bench legislation] by power-grabbing judges. Even if there were birthright citizenship, the ancient common law holding that a criminal may not benefit from his illegal acts would trump same for the children of illegal aliens. The parents clearly have just such a goal in mind. Further, that there are "English-speaking high school" [or college] "students here who have never been to Mexico" in fact indicts a string of Administrations, but does not justify amnesty. If I embezzle $50 million, live in a $5 million mansion for 15 years ´til the crime is discovered and I´m caught, why should I, or my family, keep the mansion? The cars? The jewelry? And so on? Please consider the position further. Thanks.

#19: And how long would the Left allow those darling kids to be kept from Mama and Papa? Forget any "permanent bar."

If parents bring children into this country without a visa, they are forcing that child to become a criminal through no fault of their own.

That act--forcing their child to break the law should be considered a form of child abuse...and their parental rights should be taken from them so the child could be adopted by a loving, law-abiding couple...or they could choose to self-deport as a family before the court proceedings are completed.

If there is going to be a path to citizenship...it should involve fluent and literate English tested, a $10,000.00 citizenship fee per person regardless of age, medical and mental examination and free from any disease, a recognized skill and sponsorhip by a citizen who is financially and legally responsible for the alien for a minimum of 5 years (average time period to obtain citizenship legally) or until the alien can prove total self-sufficiency.

This would pretty much solve the illegal infestation within 6 months.

Heading off a lawsuit over compliance with a federal voting rights law, California officials have agreed to help millions of state residents register to vote. Under a deal announced Monday by several voting-rights groups, the state will send voter registration cards to nearly 3.8 million Californians who have applied for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. The move will ensure that many residents can complete or update their registration in time for the June 3 primary election, representatives of the groups said, and bring the state into compliance with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. [Snip] An aide to one Republican committee member said Monday that the White House and the Treasury Department were already dangerously close to causing a constitutional crisis. ´They´ve blown off the subpoenas,´ the aide said, referring to legal demands the committee issued to the IRS on August 2 and February 14. ´If the DOJ keeps dragging its heels too, and can just get away with it,

London - A remarkable piece of high-tech data detective work has provided what looks to be the missing clue to the tragic fate of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, an expert said Monday. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak earlier on Monday said that information provided by British satellite company Inmarsat and the British government´s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed that MH370 had flown to a remote part of the Indian Ocean where the flight ended. (Snip) Inmarsat had come up with a theory to apply to the data it had collected from MH370 during the flight, and had then tested the results on aircraft in

Media Matters, the website of choice for Fox News haters everywhere, attacked the cable news network on Monday for using the term “homosexual” in its programming — advancing the peculiar argument that the scientific term has a “pejorative connotation.” The online “media watchdog” contends that calling gay people “homosexual” is “a practice that’s quickly falling out of favor with major news outlets due the term’s often pejorative connotation and frequent use by opponents of LGBT equality.” Fox News, they chide, “has yet to update its language when referring to gay and lesbian people.” Buttressing their argument? Former President Jimmy Carter is back in the news this week publicizing a new book about women’s rights. But, as is often the case with Carter, he drew more interest for comments he made about Israel and its supporters. When asked on NBC’s Meet the Press yesterday by Andrea Mitchell why it was that Barack Obama never called upon him for advice, he made it clear that the Jewish state was the reason he has been treated like a pariah: I—that’s a hard question– for me to answer—you know, with complete candor. I think the problem was that– that in dealing

A pair of potentially catastrophic cases will be argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday. These cases are brought by privately held, for-profit corporations that are arguing their religious convictions should preclude them from offering employees the health insurance required by law. Specifically, these private employers don’t want to allow their employees’ insurance to cover some forms of birth control because, contrary to medicaland scientific evidence, they believe some birth control causes abortions. Corporations are not people. Corporations cannot have religious views. If religious rights are extended to corporations, it puts us on a slippery slope where any private company

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney said Sunday that President Barack Obama is naive when it comes to Russia, has shown "faulty judgment" about Moscow´s intentions and could have done more to try to deter its annexation of Crimea. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee said Obama didn´t have the foresight to anticipate Russia´s moves and should have been working earlier with allies to make clear the penalties that Russia would face if it moved into Ukraine. Romney did acknowledge that such steps may not have been enough though to hold back Russia President Vladimir Putin. "Had we communicated those things, there´s always

First Lady Michelle Obama talked about America as she visited a school today in China. She talked about the American dream: And my story isn’t unusual in America. Some of our most famous athletes, like LeBron James, and artists, like the singer Janelle Monae, came from struggling families like mine, as do many business leaders -- like Howard Schultz. He’s the head of a company called Starbucks, which many of you may have heard of. When Mr. Schultz was a boy his father lost his job, leaving their family destitute. But Mr. Schultz worked hard. He got a scholarship to a

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

WASHINGTON — Spring break was never this dull. First Lady Michelle Obama’s kids finally hit the wall on their whirlwind visit to China, showing signs they’ve nearly reached their limit tagging along with mom as she visits site after site on what’s billed as a “person-to-person” tour. Accompanied by Malia, 15, and Sasha, 12, the first lady on Monday toured Xi’an, an ancient city in the ancestral province of Chinese President Xi Jinping. They inspected the city’s 600-year-old wall, a day after touring the Great Wall near Beijing. Photos show Sasha looking like she’d rather be back home with her pals than hitting the
