More diversity likely in
next Obama job selections

Associated Press, by Jim Kuhnhenn

WASHINGTON -- As he prepares to announce a new wave of Cabinet and other senior posts, President Barack Obama is aiming to put a more diverse face on his administration — an image that was missing as he filled the first round of vacancies of his second term with a parade of white men. Obama is said to be looking at women, Latinos and openly gay candidates for top slots at the departments of Commerce, Labor and Interior, and for his own White House budget office. The leading candidate for nomination to be secretary of commerce is Penny Pritzker

The entire federal hiring system will be impacted for years...

FTA: under consideration for interior secretary is John Berry, the current director of the Office of Personnel Management and a former senior official at the Interior Department. He is the highest-ranking openly gay official in the government.

How about a LGBT Illegal that limps and has an ADA accomodation? Good chance for Energy or Commerce? Opps almost forget, has parents that are black and aleut.

So a black or latino or asian automatically brings in a diverse viewpoint? Really?
I´m familiar with a doctoral dissertation by a black student to did an extensive survey of black administrators in the federal government, back in the 1970s, and the survey results on attitudes, life goals, perceptions, were the same between white administrators (his control group) and black administrators.
And during my teaching days, I always tried to avoid a common mistake by colleagues - asking a minority to speak for his ethnic group.
Clearly, the president is asking the opposite.
And openly gay Berry is at risk of being called berry the fairy. Kids can be so cruel.

Much like all the other inhabitants of the WH, Penny Pritzker belongs in Jail.

SHE is one of the MAJOR players in the CRA/Housing bust.
Far more important to the scheme than COuntrywide was.

Some of the earliest clues scientists had that Earth´s climate has changed over time were mismatches between the fossil record and a current ecosystem. How could this palm tree have grown in Wyoming? Why have fossils of the tropical breadfruit tree been found as far north as Greenland? These cold places must have once been warm and wet. The world is not as it has always been. And somehow, despite the tumult, species adapted, moving thousands of miles to habitats where they could survive. Won´t species today just do the same as temperatures rise in the years ahead?

Mr Mugabe´s party - which is claiming a victory - denied the accusations, saying the voting went smoothly. The head of the African Union observer mission, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, said his initial assessment was that the vote was free and fair. Other regional observers praised

The report by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office is the first authoritative estimate of the human and fiscal cost from the administration´s unexpected one-year delay announced July 2 of the employer mandate - a requirement for larger businesses to provide health coverage for their workers or pay a penalty. The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.

Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.
