Donald Trump to sue
Bill Maher after bet feud

Politico, by Kevin Cirilli

Original Article

Posted By:starbaby, 2/4/2013 9:23:41 AM

Donald Trump said Monday that he’s suing liberal comic Bill Maher for $5 million for charity because Maher did not follow through on a public bet he made on “The Tonight Show.” “He promised me $5 million for charity if I provided certain information,” Trump said Monday on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.” “Well I provided the information. He didn’t pay. So today I sue Bill Maher for $5 million for charity.”

Comments:
I´m no fan of Donald Trump but this is kinda funny.

Good for him, it´s about time these mouthy twits were held to some sort of "normal" standard. Make a bet, lose it, pay it like a "real" man.

Good for Donald. When we ever get another Republican President, Donald might be a good choice for Secretary of the Treasury. I find much to admire about The Donald despite his marriage problems. At least we know he is an American and cares about the fiscal strength of our country as well as the physical safety and strength of this great land. Obama and his ilk - Billy Maher - are like a plague of locusts.

I don´t know why people are so down on the Donald. He is a Friend, and not only that, but a friend "in need", as, because of his pursuit of the Obama birth creds, he has become a pariah in his home town and even his kids are begging him to lay off. I would say "go for it, Donald" - except: why would he expect a low life like Maher to follow through and pay up to begin with? So.. good luck on this one.

John Kerry: Russia has until Monday

Washington Examiner, by Susan Crabtree    Original Article

Secretary of State John Kerry warned of serious repercussions for Russia on Monday if last-ditch talks over the weekend to resolve the crisis in Ukraine failed to persuade Moscow to soften its stance. Kerry will travel to London for a Friday meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov ahead of a Sunday referendum vote in the Crimea region to secede from Ukraine and join the Russian Federation. U.S. and European officials argue that Moscow is orchestrating the referendum and waging an intimidation campaign with thousands of Russian troops controlling the region. If Russian-backed lawmakers in Crimea go through with the

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, R, offered his help with the GOP House of Representatives on a stalled Ukraine assistance bill in a hot-mic moment with Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday. After Kerry finished an appearance before the Senate Appropriations Committee, microphones caught Graham telling Kerry: "Hey John, good job! Let me know what I can do to help you with [GOP House Speaker John] Boehner." The House passed Ukraine assistance legislation earlier this week, but Senate leaders rejected it on Wednesday, making for a familiar bit of congressional gridlock.

Although the government shutdown continues, it appears President Barack Obama and the White House are not getting any closer to negotiating with Republicans. A quotation from an unnamed senior administration official in today´s Wall Street Journal explains why. Said a senior administration official: "We are winning...It doesn´t really matter to us" how long the shutdown lasts "because what matters is the end result." With this view, it explains why President Obama won´t agree to any piecemeal legislation that would keep Veterans Affairs and NIH open during the shutdown. And it explains why President Obama would rather cancel his Asia trip

Elizabeth O’Bagy, formerly of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), will start Monday as a legislative assistant in Sen. McCain’s office. McCain told Foreign Policy that “Elizabeth is a talented researcher, and I have been very impressed by her knowledge and analysis in multiple briefings over the last year.” The senator’s office said they would not make any further comment on O’Bagy’s employment.

The institute issued a statement on its website concerning the researcher, Elizabeth O’Bagy: The Institute for the Study of War has learned and confirmed that, contrary to her representations, Ms. Elizabeth O’Bagy does not in fact have a Ph.D. degree from Georgetown University. ISW has accordingly terminated Ms. O’Bagy’s employment, effective immediately.

Thirty-nine Republican senators want to know who the 21 federal agencies helping to implement Obamacare are and what those agencies are doing to promote the program. A leaked April 2013 slideshow from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said 21 federal agencies, including the Departments of Agriculture and Education, are working on an educational program to implement Obamacare. That reference prompted the senators´ curiosity. "At a time federal agency budgets have been tightened by the sequester and the White House has warned of cuts to basic programs,

How much more will Americans take? The “fundamental transformation” of America proceeds apace. The erosion of our freedoms and traditions, once incremental and barely perceptible, accelerates daily. Armies of bureaucrats commanded by political ideologues remarkable mainly for their galactic incompetence intrude on ever more aspects of our lives — aspects both large and small. They tell us what light bulbs we’re allowed to use and how much water we may flush. They stick swabs in our mouths to collect our DNA and order us to buy health insurance we don’t want.

There were times this past week when it seemed like the 19th-century Know-Nothing Party had returned to Washington. President Obama insisted he knew nothing about major decisions in the State Department, or the Justice Department, or the Internal Revenue Service. The heads of those agencies, in turn, insisted they knew nothing about major decisions by their subordinates. It was as if the government functioned by some hidden hand. Clearly, there was a degree of willful blindness in these claims. However, the suggestion that someone, even the president, is in control of today’s government may be an illusion.

None have voted to defund President Obama’s golf trips. The amendment, sponsored by Senator Tom Coburn, required 60 votes to pass.

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers.
