Full Throttle Ahead: US Tips Global

Williston, North Dakota, is a bleak little city in the vast American prairie. It´s dusty in the summer and frigid in the winter. (snip) Optimists assume that, in about 15 years, the United States will no longer have to send any aircraft carriers to the Persian Gulf to guarantee that oil tankers can pass unhindered through the Strait of Hormuz, still the most important energy bottleneck in the world. The Russians could be on the losing end of the stick. The power of President Vladimir Putin is based primarily on oil and gas revenues. If energy prices decline in the long

Now if only our president would get out of the way. Just as America can take the lead in world energy production, our little organizer wants to retreat on American worldwide influence, unless it can be through his cronies of "green energy."

I´ve seen several investment-type guys on TV state that this (FRACKING) could be the "brass ring", total game changer for our U.S. now mired in debt, driven into the dirt by liberal policies. To foreign investors the U.S. appears to be the BEST place for the 21st century, IF ONLY THE GOVERNMENT WOULD GET OUT OF THE WAY. That means you obama, and your traveling circus of libtards.

Another way to look at this is let Obama continue his policy of restricted energy production here, because if he lifts restrictions and gets us energy independent and a resulting good economy going, he would lauded as a hero and be president for life, I say let him do himself in with his rigid ideology.

We must become as energy independent as possible - before Iran gets nukes. Because if they drop on on Tel-Aviv, Israel will destroy the infrastructure of the Arab world. Mecca, Jeddah, the Aswan Dam, every major port, etc will be vaporized.

The past two days have revealed the dangerous ramifications of the narrow-minded foreign policy elite in Washington, and a media establishment that has for so much of President Obama’s tenure accepted the statements of the administration as gospel. (Snip) If this is the sort of foreign policy anticipation that the establishment delivers, it’s little surprise that no one trusts America’s self-styled policy elites any more. They are too used to judging the world according to the patterns toward which they are already biased, as opposed to seeing it as it is.

President Obama has made liberal use of "executive action" throughout his presidency, and pledged to make even more use of executive action in this year´s State of the Union speech. He seems to think that because Republicans don´t want to implement his agenda, he can go around Congress. The Heritage Foundation is out with a new report on President Obama´s executive actions, titled "An Executive Unbound," finding that "abusive, unlawful, even potentially unconstitutional unilateral action has been a hallmark of the Obama Administration." They´ve also compiled a list of the top ten abusive executive actions taken by the President.

For much of his time in office, President Obama has been accused by a mix of conservative hawks and liberal interventionists of overseeing a dangerous retreat from the world at a time when American influence is needed most. The once-hopeful Arab Spring has staggered into civil war and military coup. China is stepping up territorial claims in the waters off East Asia. Longtime allies in Europe and in the Persian Gulf are worried by the inconsistency of a president who came to office promising the end of the United States’ post-Sept. 11 wars. Now Ukraine has emerged as a test of

America´s ruling class has been experiencing more pushback than usual lately. It just might be a harbinger of things to come. Specially equipped police cars even track cars parked on the street or even in driveways. The DHS put out a bid request for a system that would have gone national, letting the federal government track millions of

This much we know about President Obama’s three-day weekend at Sunnylands, the luxurious 200-acre estate near Palm Springs, Calif., that has become something of a West Coast Camp David: He has played golf with three buddies, and planned to binge on TV. Mr. Obama may well feel he’s earned his three days of R&R. On Friday, he addressed a House Democratic retreat on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, then took Air Force One to Fresno, Calif., for events focused on the state’s severe drought, then headed south to Sunnylands for a working dinner with King Abdullah II of Jordan. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
