Remember all that talk about civility in political discourse after the shooting of Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords? NPR´s Nina Totenberg apparently doesn´t, for on PBS´s Inside Washington Friday, she said of Hillary Clinton, "Any time conservatives can they want to take a knife to her throat": NINA TOTENBERG, NPR: I want to say a word about Hillary Clinton. Every time, you see how great her presence has really been, what a successful Secretary of State she’s been, by the fact that any time conservatives can they want to take a knife to her throat. And guess what?
There is one thing I can see very clearly, it is that Democrats are all on the same page; they will continue the name calling, the slandering and the impugning of conservatives. They think that they won the election on these slanders, so they determined to just get louder and louder. They don´t realize that the only reasons they won are that Romney wasn´t a true conservative and that Obama is a cult figure.
Shame on Nina Totenberg! Doesn´t she remember what we learned within minutes of the Tucson shooting?
Sheriff Dupnick and the media both rushed before TV cameras and said "political rhetoric" incites violence! Media scolds and liberal politicians demanded conservatives watch their mouths, and practically wet their pants over a picture of a target found on a Sarah Palin flyer.
And now this. What was Totenberg thinking? There´s no telling how much knife violence will happen before the day is over, all because of her poor choice of words.
Hillary praises herself enough for all of us, Nina, ole girl. We´ll just wait to see how well she and the Middle East hold up over the next 3 and a half years. There´s plenty of time for some more chickens to come home to roost on the dem plantation.
libs seem to say conservatives will do violent harm to people...i believe its the democrats that support abortion, and obamcaforsomebutnotforall....which will result in people being refused health care..which is nothing but murder....
In case Monica Crowley hasn´t repeated it here, let me paraphrase her thoughts from a couple of months ago: The left continues to transmit how they feel about the Right by projecting how (they believe) the Right feels about the left.
There is a scared little boy being held against his will by a crazed old man in a fortified bunker, going on 5 days now. Has the creepy Totenberg forgotten? She has a lot of nerve inciting violence by saying what she said about Conservatives and knives. Shame on her!!! Defund PBS.
I wish Hillary fans would be specific and tell the rest of us what Hillary has actually accomplished, anytime, anywhere that causes them to lavish such praise on her. It might make us feel less like taking a knife to her throat. For one of the most annoying things about her is the way she has of acting like a superior and highly accomplished person, even though nobody seems to be able to put their finger on just why she is entitled to such high status. It really is a mystery. I honestly have no idea, none at all, what Hillary Clinton has ever, in her entire life, actually done, achieved, or accomplished that makes her as special as she and her groupies think she is. Perhaps her achievements are too obvious to her followers to merit listing -- but they might at least spell them out in concrete terms for those to whom they are not self-evident. We might well disagree with such specific examples if they were offered, but at least we would know what her fans are talking about when they swoon over her.
And let us not forget NPR´s Madame Totenberg´s "loving" observation on PBS´s INSIDE WASHINGTON in 2003, concerning Lt. General William G. "Jerry" Boykin after it was reported the General had talked about his Christian faith at a prayer breakfast..." I hope he is not long for this world."
President Obama is shilling yet again for the Democrats, raising eyebrows for booking a record number of fundraising events. Thursday night he travels to Pennsylvania to speak at a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee money fest - hoping to fill the party coffers in preparation for the 2014 midterm elections. He will travel to Cleveland earlier in the day to speak on the economy at ArcelorMittal. Obama has made 30 fundraising trips to either keynote events or visit wealthy donors since April, according to The Guardian - far above the average 13 fundraisers for his presidential predecessors
Earlier this week, former President Bill Clinton advised President Obama to "honor the commitment" he made and to allow Americans to keep their health care plans, if they like them. That was a central promise Obama made when he sold Obamacare, but one that turned out not to be true when Obamacare began to be implemented last month. "So I personally believe, even if it takes a change to the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got," Clinton in an interview released Tuesday. Now President Obama
WASHINGTON –Even many Democrats are stepping back from Obamacare, Sen. Ted Cruz said today during an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace at the Washington Ideas Forum. “I think they’re in a lot of trouble,” Cruz said about Democrats. Cruz cited Bill Clinton’s call to Obama to make sure Americans are able to keep health insurance plans under the ACA. “Bill Clinton has extraordinary political instincts. It’s a little bit like the canary in the coalmine.” Cruz said other Democrats will take cues from the former president. Cruz said Republicans have alternatives in the works. He compared Obamacare’s insurance standards, which
Some animal rights activists are wondering just how many birds green energy may unintentionally kill as more and more birds turn up dead at solar energy facilities throughout California. A recent article by Vice author Lex Berko notes that dead birds are being found with "singed wings" around several California solar energy facilities. It happens that many of California´s solar plants are, the article claims, in the path of "the four major north-to-south trajectories for migratory birds" called "the Pacific Flyway." Birds are dying in one of two ways. In some cases, they imagine the shining solar panels to be
San Diego, California- You almost have to feel sorry for President Obama. Almost. You know you´re having a tough week when you´re essentially being called untruthful by, of all people, Bill Clinton, who knows a thing or two about stretching the truth. At the very least, Clinton insisted that Obama -- in trying to sell Obamacare to the American people -- should not have broken his promise that, if they liked their doctor and health care plan, they could keep both. For millions of Americans, perhaps tens of millions, this hasn´t been the case. Their policies were cancelled. Even while continuing
President Barack Obama is expected to announce that individuals with insurance policies that are being canceled because they do not meet Obamacare´s standards will be allowed to renew them, sources told NBC News. But that insurance companies will be required to tell people re-enrolling about alternative options and the benefits they will lose. Obama, under pressure from Democrats facing angry calls from people who have lost their health insurance plans, will deliver a statement on Obamacare at the White House at 11:35 am ET, the White House said. CNBC.com will be streaming the event live.
On Tuesday´s The Lead, liberal historian Doris Kearns Goodwin dismissed the notion that the media is in President Obama´s "pocket." "I don´t think the country would feel that his way of dealing with the country has been eased by the press," she lamented of Obama and the media. "I think the press is much more complicated today. I think ever since Watergate there´s a more antagonistic view between presidents and press." [Video below the break. Audio here.] Kearns-Goodwin was on CNN to discuss her new book on Teddy Roosevelt and William Howard Taft. She explained how both used the "bully
President Obama on Thursday morning will unveil his fix for the millions of Americans receiving cancellation notices for their insurance plans, a proposal that that comes as Democrats have urged the White House to put forward a blueprint to help mitigate the glaring political liability. The president, who has been on the defensive for his broken promise that all Americans could keep their insurance coverage under Obamacare, will announce his proposal at 11:35 a.m. from the White House briefing room. The White House plan comes as a growing number of Democrats have put forward legislation of their own that would
Last week, President Obama apologized for misleading the American public with his false claim that "if you like your insurance, you can keep it." Without this assurance, it is unlikely ObamaCare would have passed. Obama was not the only politician fudging the truth. Most Democrat lawmakers repeated this claim on the campaign trail and in meetings with constituents. If Obama apologized, they should as well, as they are equally culpable. Breitbart News has compiled a list of the Top 10 Senate Democrats who should follow Obama´s lead and apologize to the American public. These particular lawmakers either went all-in on
Millennials shunned Washington, D.C. during the recession. Now they’re flocking to it. The Washington, D.C. metropolitan area — which includes the surrounding suburbs in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia — saw an average annual net gain of 12,583 people ages 25 to 34 between 2010 and 2012, the biggest gain in the country, according to an analysis of new Census data by William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution. The recession began in December 2007 and ended June 2009. Why D.C.? One obvious reason is the change in U.S. administrations in 2009. The presidency of Barack Obama likely brought
CLEVELAND, Oh -President Obama will speak this afternoon at ArcelorMittal in Cleveland, talking about the economy and manufacturing. I´ll be posting live during Obama´s remarks in the comments section below. What would you like him to say about the economy and about Cleveland´s manufacturing sector? I´ll also be responding to your questions during the event as time permits. Northeast Ohio Media Group political reporter Henry J. Gomez will be the local pool reporter for the president´s trip to Cleveland. You can read his pool reports in the comments section as well. Live video: WKYC.com will stream the president´s landing at
WASHINGTON — In a case that could narrow legal protections against police searches, a majority of Supreme Court justices sounded ready Wednesday to reject an appeal from an imprisoned Los Angeles gang member who contended that after he objected to a search and was then taken away under arrest, police unconstitutionally entered his apartment. Justices appeared to agree with attorneys for the Los Angeles Police Department, who defended the search as legal because the gang member, Walter Fernandez, was not present and his girlfriend gave police permission to enter their home. Fernandez´s attorney, Stanford law professor Jeffrey Fisher, said the
President Barack Obama´s approval ratings have dipped to a record low in another poll — this time from Quinnipiac University. According to the poll, respondents disapprove of Obama´s job performance by a 54-39 margin. His approval rating of 39% is worse than his previous all-time low of 41% in the Quinnipiac survey, which came after a bruising fight over raising the nation´s debt ceiling in 2011. And for the first time ever, most people (52%) say that Obama is not honest and trustworthy. Only 44% say that he is honest and trustworthy. The only individual issue on which Obama scores
Amazing stuff via Mediaite. The “Keep Your Plan Act” is Fred Upton’s bill, which Jay Carney spent a few minutes attacking at today’s press briefing because it would make canceled plans available to all consumers, not just the ones who’d been enrolled in those plans before. That would be a disaster for the insurance industry. Healthy people would flee the new, more expensive plans for the resurrected cheaper ones, leaving no one in the new risk pool except sick people with very expensive treatments. That means either heavy losses for insurers, steep premium hikes next year to make up the
To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, you’d have to have a heart of stone not to laugh at the unraveling of Obamacare. First, the obligatory caveats. It is no laughing matter that millions of Americans’ lives have been thrown into anxious chaos as they lose their health insurance, their doctors, their money, or all three. Nor is it particularly amusing to think of the incredible waste of time and tax dollars that has gone into Obamacare’s construction. And the still-unfolding violence that this misbegotten legislation will visit on the economy and our liberties is not funny either. This very magazine has been downright
In his 2007 biography of Barack Obama, Obama: From Promise to Power, Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendell described the exchange he had with then-Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama just minutes before he delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston: After Obama and I slipped through a security checkpoint and he momentarily broke free from the entourage, I sidled up to him and told him that he seemed to be impressing many people of influence in this rarefied atmosphere. Obama, his gaze fixed directly ahead, never broke his stride. “I´m LeBron, baby,” he replied, referring to LeBron
WASHINGTON — While the country is immersed in Obamacare headlines and a congressional tussle over delays and mandates, the Obama administration is stealthily moving toward unprecedented control over private property under a massive expansion of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Water Act authority. The proposed rule, obtained by the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee in advance of EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy’s testimony at a Thursday oversight hearing, widely broadens the definition of waterways over which the federal government has jurisdiction to as little as a water ditch in a backyard. The Clean Water Act redefinition of “waters of the United States”
President Obama announces today that he supports a “fix” for Obamacare that would allow some Americans to keep the healthcare plans they already had for an additional year. That was already built into the Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare law. It’s not an actual change to anything, it’s just an attempt to get out ahead of the bills that Republican Fred Upton and Democrat Mary Landrieu are sponsoring in the House and Senate that would legislatively “fix” Obamacare. It’s an exercise in blame-shifting, and an abdication of leadership. As news of the plan leaked, skepticism spread.(Snip for tweets)Barack Obama’s credibility
Those sophisticates at Time magazine made a funny. They put Chris Christie on their cover with the headline, "The Elephant in the Room." Get it? Elephant. Christie. Time magazine did a junior high fat joke right there on its cover. Time´s executive editor Michael Duffy explained the cheap shot this way: "Well, he´s obviously a big guy. He´s obviously a big Republican. But he´s also done a really huge thing here this week." The "huge thing" wasn´t only winning re-election as New Jersey´s governor, but doing it by appealing to a broad range of voters in a very blue state
On Wednesday, Senator Mark Udall (D-CO) introduced a bill in the Senate that would allow Americans to keep their health insurance plans for a limit of two years. “I have repeatedly said that the Affordable Care Act isn’t perfect,” Udall said, “and it will need to be improved as it is implemented.” Udall already wants to push off the open enrollment deadline on the Obamacare health exchanges until the end of May. But Udall’s plan isn’t the only one in the offing. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) has introduced the “Keeping the Affordable Care Act Promise Act,” co-sponsored by Sens. Dianne
Something is seriously wrong with conservatism. Since Ronald Reagan’s last year in office, Republicans have only twice won a majority of votes cast for president—both times with a George Bush atop the ticket. And neither Bush was a conservative. For 25 years, something has prevented conservatives from winning the White House and prevented the Republicans who do win from governing as conservatives. What could it be? The Tea Party has an answer: RINOs—liberal Republicans in Name Only—have sabotaged the right, most recently in October when they collaborated with Democrats to raise the debt ceiling and end the government shutdown. Once RINOs are
Protesting and getting arrested for civil disobedience wasn’t enough to move the needle on immigration, so activists announced Tuesday they are beginning a hunger fast to try to pressure Congress to pass a bill legalizing illegal immigrants. Saying they’ve done all they can to try to shift the political debate, the activists said the only option left is to pray and fast. “It is being blocked, and the political commentators will tell you it would be a miracle — that’s what they say — a miracle for immigration reform to pass. Sometimes you can organize and struggle and march as hard as
President Obama’s former spiritual advisor Joshua DuBois joined The O’Reilly Factor to talk about his new book, “The President´s Devotional: Daily Readings That Inspired Obama.” He told Bill O’Reilly, “The president’s a committed Christian and his faith is a really important part of his life. Every single morning for the last six years he’s woken up and read these devotionals to try grow closer to God and closer to his neighbors as well.” DuBois recalled going with the president to visit Reverend Billy Graham. “He doesn’t wear this stuff on his sleeve. That’s not the kind guy he is, but he
President Barack Obama issued a statement yesterday congratulating Hawaii for legalizing same-sex marriage, a move he said "exemplifies the values we hold dear as a nation." "I want to congratulate the Hawaii State Legislature on passing legislation in support of marriage equality," said Obama. "With today’s vote, Hawaii joins a growing number of states that recognize that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters should be treated fairly and equally under the law. Whenever freedom and equality are affirmed, our country becomes stronger. By giving loving gay and lesbian couples the right to marry if they choose, Hawaii exemplifies the
