If you´ve ever had mice get into your house, you are grateful that cats kill them. I live in a very old farm house out in the boonies and, when we moved in, there were mice. They leave their little scat EVERYWHERE. Fortunately we had six cats - problem solved.

Read this a couple days ago and just rolled my eyes. There certainly is a population (unfiortunately growing) f ill informed and emotionally stunted individuals who cannot understand any factual information until it has been passed through the "utopian" filter.

To these children the world existed in some kind of utopian balance of harmony and peace until Evil Europeans left their devastated continent to spread pestilnce and ignorance across the globe. Indigineous peoples had vast wisdom destroyed by whites, the environment was pristine and harmonious. There was no death, indigineous peoples had some mystic higher plane of existence which allowed them to self regulate there impact so that nature was left in its proper utopian balance.

This is the root of the "cruing Indian" anti littering campaign of the 70´s. Its also tripe of the first order. Read accounts of explorers entering indian camps for the first time. Their first impression is often the unbelievable stench, this from a group of people whos own hygiene would be quite questionable.

Indigineous peoples Survived due to low population. They worked one area until it was entirely depleted, they would shoot the last deer or eat the only remaining rabbit if they could. They defecated in the streams, threw their garbage in the dirt and burned and cut down everything they could. When the area was too devastated to support them/\.

Then they picked up and moved a couple dozen miles and started over. All of the greens views and policy desires are based on this ine flawed utopian view. As more and more of them are completely divorced from the nature they worship (most eco whiners are urban city dwellers) this ignorant and simplistic view has only grown stronger.

Back in the 90´s someone on the SF city council proposed rounding up and euthanizing all cats. It was to protect the song birds. How lovely the city would be with all the song birds and every car covered in pigeon poo.

Three of the four Attercliffe cats want to know what a mouse is. The fourth says, "Where is it, lemme at it!"

Hence, three out of four cats are not interested in mice.

Btw, an absolutely amazing coincidence arises as this article comes out within a short time of similar studies in the UK and Australia. Isn´t it odd how these coincidences pop up so often? And I reiterate: liberals, generally speaking, don´t like cats. This is probably because most cats are not as needy as dogs.

I want to know how many rodents (and cats) are killed by hawks, owls and other raptors. And what about our fish supply--my goodness the amount of sea creatures snagged by pelicans, white, little and great blue herons, seagulls, ospreys, eagles and other avian fishers around here could probably feed a starving family for at least a year on just half a day´s catch.

So it would be better to be over run by mice and birds? Is the cycle of life even taught anymore?

Perhaps had they focused on FERAL cats...

Which leads to the conclusion that liberals are adept at whining about kittens, but a bit less blow hard when the wind is blowing in their preferred direction.

What I want to hear is how somebody sold this idea for a study to the grand high poobahs at some college or federal grant-o-rama.

Sure, I can see a couple science geeks over a Lite Beer by Miller saying, "wonder if we could score a few grand studying how many birds and mice that a cat kills?" Other geek says, "no way", geek no 1 says "way" and they decide to give it a whirl.

We need a coupla enterprising conservative geeks to do a study on grant monies handed out and how the results have changed the world say a decade hence. Bet it wouldn´t shock many of us on the right how much of these dollars have been squandered on phart-in-a-breeze thinking.

There was a maroon in New Zealand last week, Gareth Morgan, that was saying the exact same thing. The envirowhacks have been complaining about pets for some time now. Looks like they´re trying to put it on the same "scientific basis" as global warming.

I suppose since I am letting the "cat out of the bag" here, they will be coming after dogs next. My dogs do not discriminate regarding pray - they equally go after mice, rats, birds, rabbits and squirrels.

These people are absolutely mad. They moan and groan about human overpopulation, underpopulation of wildlife - they are free to set an example and show the world they are committed and sterilize themselves, etc.

Saw in my dr.´s office the other day (CNN TV programming) pushing the idea that we should begin eating insects due to low cholesterol, high in protein, etc. It will solve world hunger - it´s the new agenda - dis-arm and dis-food. Yeah, set the example libs....

I think the root of this is how much peeps in the US spend on their pets. The progressives want that $$ so they need to eradicate pets.

Agenda 21 has no room for slaves to own and feed Fluffy or Rover.

I want to know how much us taxpayers got soaked for this useless study.
