Harry Reid And The
Crumbling Democratic Caucus

PJ Media, by Matt Vespa

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/2/2013 11:30:15 AM

Iowa is about to have an openSenate seat for the first time in twenty-nine years. Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) decided to bolt from the U.S. Senate, as did Jay Rockefeller (D-WV). However, why are safe Democrats retiring from the U.S. Senate? Rockefeller and Harkin, for example, could’ve been there for life. Is it because Sen. Harry Reid is making things so miserable that stalwarts of the left, like Harkin, are crying “uncle?” The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin thinks so, and said to watch for three more retirements as 2014 draws nearer.

Comments:
This sounds like a bit of good news. However, we all know how capable the Republicans are at shooting themselves in the foot.

I rather doubt Rockefeller and Harkin dislike Reid all that much. When your party is in the majority in the Senate, life is pretty good. More of the fact these two getting out before it all hits the fan.

What difference does it make? The GOP doesn`t want the senate or the WH. They proved that in 2012.

Perhaps they want to distance themselves from the communist wing of the Demonrat party, or find a safe place before the economy crashes. Somehow the move is about "saving" themselves, it always is.

Just because a couple old leftists retire doesn´t mean they all will. But it´s interesting to see how old and decrepit the Senate Democrats have become. Time will eventually remove them all.

This could just be a case of cashing in for the big bucks from being an ex-Senator, especially Harkin. Their federal pensions will be $160,000 per year with free health care. If Obama doesn´t appoint them ambassadors, they become highly paid lobbyists or presidents of a large university. Plus book deals, paid speaking engagements, etc. Even the dolt Chuck Hagel had 12 speaking engagements in 2012, surely at $50,000 per event.

Since GOP controls House, no major liberal legislation will pass for 2 or more years, so why waste time on roll calls and procedural matters when you could be enriching yourself?

These are the guys that put huge government social programs in place that are so gargantuan they can only be funded by running huge deficits or borrowing from a communist country. They are also the ones that not only ignored the demographic slow motion train wreck that is social security but made it worse by lying to us for decades about any proposals to right it.

All to get their sorry backsides elected for six more years.

They obviously have nothing but contempt for us. They´ll spend their remaining years telling themselves they made a difference. They did do that.

Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, democratic dunce, came out against coal. West Virginia residents have put up with alot from the dunce, but that support by him of President Hologram, and against coal, was way too much for them to stomach. (Rockefeller told his consituents that they had to face reality about coal. Talk about stupid.)

Glenn Beck has previously expressed his desire to be less political and more like Walt Disney, and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Beck reveals he’s working on three movies to make the kind of entertainment he would want to see more of in theaters. Beck’s company Mercury Radio Arts is working on building up a film division, and he says right now he’s working on three movies: “one set in ancient history, one in modern history and a third he considers ‘faith-based.’” For anyone that might wonder why the ex-Fox News commentator would get into the Hollywood game,

National security should serve policy objectives. It should not be a victim of political correctness. Politics should be kept especially far away from the practice of intelligence. Today´s decision by the NYPD to close the unit that was mapping Muslim communities in New York is very likely a product of political pressure. It is a decision that will make the city targeted in the largest terrorist attack in modern history less safe. I have gone on record in the past—on Al Jazeera, of all places—to explain why the program was a good idea and crucial to preventing terrorist plots in the future. In

Michael R. Mr. Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, said gun control advocates need to learn from the N.R.A. and punish those politicians who fail to support their agenda — even Democrats whose positions otherwise align with his own. “They say, ‘We don’t care. How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
