Ridiculous. Most of these guys and gals are independently wealthy. What´s needed is: "Pass a budget or nothing gets funded."

No more continuing resolutions (CRs). Everything shuts down until normal order is followed and a formal budget is passed. Pressure from a finally awakened and outraged public will do the rest.

#1, I disagree. These politicians have absolutely no problem spending our money on their causes and agendas, but when they need to put their own skin in the game (no budget = no pay) they will move heaven and earth to get theirs - even if it was a couple bucks. Thats just the way these depraved power-mongers think.

#1, where are the awakened and outraged public concerning Benghazi? Where were they when our credit rating dropped, or our debt has risen by the $trillions? Where were they when the dems passed that obnoxious Obamacare? Where are they whenever Obama bypasses the Constitution? The only way you will ever get their attention is by hitting them in the pocketbooks. If even a couple of Senators (oh how I hate to even capitalize that worthless herd of idiots) are hurt by this, at least it may get their attention. As for that "awakened and outraged public", I´m afraid you will have to hit them the same way. Money out of their pockets seems to be the only way to enrage them. Yeah, I know that assault weapons have a similar effect, but only until a little time passes. (Actually, the public in that case becomes enraged, but not aware.)

They already have the money. What they want is the power and as long as they are in office, they have the power.

If I may respond, #3 and #4: the public was not outraged because it was not awakened. The media and Congress saw to that. Passing CRs and the "cliff" extension meant that the public has yet to feel the pinch. Unfortunately, most people are reluctant to change their behavior until they experience some pain. The Creator knew that when He designed us. (Finger in the fire and all that.) The maneuvering at the end of last year shielded the public from real pain. Shut things down, and the pain will ensue to trigger the much-needed awakening. Remember the metaphor of boiling the frog.

As to the personal financial status of our members of Congress: I´m sure their lobbyist friends will help them get through it, on or off the record. They will be just fine.

Can´t remember where I read it, but I believe that they never would actually "lose" their money, it would just be delayed. They would still get every penny in the end. If so, how is that going to motivate them to do anything?

I think we´re just seeing more drama from the clowns. For our benefit, of course!

I agree most are vastly rich, either on paper, or at least in secret. The thing to pass is a bill that says if they don´t pass a budget "as required by law!" they are going to prison for dereliction of duty.
