Hillary Clinton Exits Politics:
Her Enduring Legacy

Newsweek, by Michael Tomasky

Original Article

Posted By:BuckeyeRon, 2/2/2013 9:32:21 AM

And now, as of this week, Hillary Rodham Clinton becomes something she has not been in two decades: a private citizen. A mind-boggling thought, really, rich in amusingly prosaic implications. Will she drive a car? Is she going to pop up at the Safeway (you’re supposed to bring your own bags now, Madame Secretary!) or be found standing in line at the Friendship Heights multiplex? She’ll still have Secret Service protection, and she has more than enough money to send other people out on a CVS run. But even so, she is now, for the first time in a very...

Which raises the question, what is Huma going to do? Is she going to be a fulltime housewife for her very own Weiner? Will she continue to hold a government position for the next four years, and when Hillary is elected president, Huma can step in as her chief of staff?

Hillary will soon be offered a lucrative position as an occasional NBC world analyst to maintain her visibility. Harvard, Yale and Princeton will also toss visiting lecturer offers her way. The Rockefeller Foundation will offer her a key role in its Manhattan headquarters. Major corporations will want her on their boards. Finally, she´ll spend time selecting a ghost writer for two or more books for $15 to $25 million. Her book on her accomplishments as SoS will reach # 1 on the Fiction Best Sellers list. Book will be turned into a movie for release in 2016. Kate Upton will play Hillary. Finally, a line of Hillary safety helmets and protective eyeglasses will be mandated for everyone over 50 by HHS. She is not going away, unfortunately.

How many today remember Hillary´s role in the Arkansas Whitewater scandal where elderly couples were cheated out of their life savings?
Or her payoffs from Tyson Foods when Bill was Governor? Or the questionable death of Vince Foster?

Don´t expect the media to mention these.

I watched PBS news last night, and two liberal women were commenting on HIllary´s performance as Secretary of State. And each said, after mouthing platitudes, that Hillary was unimpressive as Secretary of State, except for her travels and ceremonial stuff.

Enduring legacy? If, God forbid, she died tomorrow, what accomplishments would her obituary cite?
Born to wealthy parents on Chicago´s Gold Coast.
7 Sisters education highlighted by a graduation speech of stupifying progressive platitudes.
Minor service in Democrats´ army of attorneys attacking President Nixon.
Married Slick Willie.
Got bribed by Tyson Chicken functionary.
Ran Whitewater real estate scam.
Got cushy job at Rose Law as spouse of Arkansas Attorney General/Governor.
Withheld records of Rose Law in defiance of subpoena.
Gave "Stand by Your Man" speech in support of her sex offender husband.
Villified his sexual victims.
Alienated liberal supporters of government-centric health care with her leadership of the HillaryCare Project, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Carpetbagged her way to election to the Senate while still serving as First Lady.
Did nothing of note in 8 years as senator.
Turned "inevitable" into "outsmarted" in campaign against a man whose only accomplishments were "authoring" two autobiographies.
As SoS:
N. Korea develops nuclear bomb and missile technology.
Iran develops same.
"Reset" with Russia turns into a renewal of the Cold War.
Encourages China to indulge in Imperialism.
Makes friends with dictators like Castro and Chavez while attacking democratic leaders in Honduras and Columbia.
Presides over disastrous erosion of U.S. support in the Muslim world, punctuated by the Bengazi slaughter.

This list of Legacy-creating accomplishments is by no means complete.

I read the entire article in what proved to be a vain search for something Hillary Clinton has ever actually DONE that is specially noteworthy or meritorious. For all of his puffing, the author was unable to provide readers with anything specific. At times he seems to be almost aware of the problem, only to veer away from it into still more fatuous, gushing, embarrassing adulation. We are, as usual, left guessing as to just what it is that makes Hillary so special. It seems that for her admirers, just being Hillary is enough. Her mere existence as a public, political figure proves something for them, though it is hard to see precisely what it is. That women are just as good as men? That despite endless scandals and questions about her integrity and her competence, she remains afloat?

There is no word for this excruciating Newsweek fluff and puff piece but toadying.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I´ve gotta tell, another little thing about Nelson Mandela. Do you realize in a couple of ways, maybe even more than a couple, Nelson Mandela has more in common or had more in common with Clarence Thomas than he does with Barack Obama? For example, Nelson Mandela (even prior to becoming president, but certainly after he became president of South Africa) insisted on compliance with his country´s constitution. He insisted on it. Obama looks at the US Constitution as an obstacle and makes end runs around it every day, practically. In that sense... These are the kind of

To fully appreciate what former South African president Nelson Mandela was able to accomplish, it is necessary to hearken back to the South Africa he found when he emerged from prison in 1990, and what the country was like in those critical four years between his release and his election to the presidency in 1994. Put simply, South Africa was a violent, dangerous and heavily-armed place teetering precariously on the edge of an all-out race war. And in the early 1990s, it was entirely unclear which way the country would go. On one side, embittered white rejectionists were refusing to

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. When Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis a little more than a year ago, the first thing that struck those who knew him well was his unexpected, beatific smile. “In Argentina, he didn’t smile like that,” Sergio Rubin, the pope’s biographer, said this week at a conference sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. “That was the big surprise.” Since then, the pope has mostly kept on smiling — in homilies, in audiences, in meetings with the homeless and the poor. Their target is the GOP, but they are not angry liberals bent on destroying it. They are reform-minded Republican leaders intent on strengthening it. These Republicans are applying conservative principles to 21st-century challenges, focused on middle-class concerns like lowering costs and improving access to college, modernizing health care and reforming the tax code. They aim to broaden prosperity´s reach through markets and merit, not government and corporate cronyism. They´re also concentrating on helping the poor by changing Washington´s dizzying assortment of antipoverty programs to emphasize work and make the safety net more effective and sustainable. One is a world leader who has been praised for his humility and outlook on the world. The other is an American president, once the international superstar of the political stage. So it is no surprise that President Barack Obama has travelled to the Vatican in Rome possibly to get some tips from the popular Pope Francis who now even has own weekly glossy magazine dedicated to him. As he sat down with the Pontiff at the Vatican this morning, Obama called himself a ´great admirer´ of the pope. Their historic first meeting comes as Obama´s administration and the church

Joe Newby at The Washington Examiner has found a real doozy of a “comedian.” Her name is Laura Levites – with obviously no connection to the priests of the Old Testament. (She´s an atheist with a fondness for Ricky Gervais.) "I would personally like to castrate every Male Conservative Christian so that they have NO reproductive rights," she wrote on Twitter, using the hashtag "#HobbyLobby." She certainly knows how to draw attention to herself. Newby said that’s not all. She also expressed her hatred of Christians in a tweet calling conservative Christians "******bags," claiming they are "really trying" her patience.
