| Hollywood Democrats aren´t happy that one half of Congress remains out of their control. So a gaggle of big name celebrity donors, including Barbra Streisand, convened at the home of liberal activist/producer Norman Lear to plot a comeback strategy and watch a little must-see TV. More than 40 Hollywood politicos -- including Barbra Streisand, James Brolin and Haim Saban -- gathered Thursday night at a closed-door meeting at Norman Lear´s Westside mansion, where they heard Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi lay out the party’s plans for recapturing the House in the 2014 mid-terms....

Is this part of the "Dems will rule until the end of time" plan? Babs may love the communist Utopian theme, but I know she does not like to part with the millions she has earned.
More reason to shun Hollyweird.

The problem is it is not strategy they are working on. It is how can we cheat to retake the House.

Among proposals discussed so far:
A. Downton Abbey parties for candidates. Enormous mansions of entertainers would be used for lavish fund raisers. B. Free chauffeured limo rides to voting places. C. Fund raising DVD of Babs Streisand and Babbles Pelosi in update of Lear´s sitcom, All in Family. Babs and Babbles both play role of Meathead, the leftist that drove Archie crazy. D. Use of their armed security guards for a weekend if you give $1,000 or more. E. Use of 2 or more of their illegal gardeners if you give $500 or more. F. A line of Sandra Fluke contraceptives and abortifacients with Democrat´s photo on each for $100 G. Your photo next to life size cut-outs of Babs & Babble for $10

You may be right, #2, but their boy got elected twice. I admit our candidates didn´t help, especially John McCain, the most inept candidate in world history, but how do you explain the Senate debacle in the 2012 election?
I fear the stupid party, the party of steers, is just sitting there hoping that common sense will rule in 2014. Common sense vanished in 2008 and did not return in 2012. 2014 will be no different.
If you want to win in a street fight, you´d better learn to fight dirty. Steers don´t have the necessaries to do that so we´d better find some bulls.
The people paying the freight better get mad and it better happen fast. And for anyone who thinks Marco Rubio is the answer, you are a certified lunatic.

Yes, they want higher taxes, fewer well-paying jobs, higher gasoline prices.
They´ll work the margins, again.
Republicans need to stop worrying if some other Republican is more liberal on some issues than they are.
Elect Republicans, period.
Even a liberal Republican is better than a conservative Democrat who would only end up caucusing with the extremely liberal Nancy Pelosi.
The Dems see one last shot at installing the rest of their agenda by taking the House in 2014. They didn´t need Republicans to jam thru Obamacare.
If they end up with holding the Senate and retaking the House for Obama´s last 2 years watch out.

The House will remain safely GOP. Most Congressmen represent rural and suburban constituents. Cheating is only easy in the urban districts. And in those urban distracts, they can cheat like crazy but they already have 80% Dem voters. So unless they are trying to affect a state-wide outcome (Senator, Governor, President), there is little need to cheat.

Pat Smith, mother of Benghazi victim Sean Smith, a State Department information officer, listened to the Benghazi hearing on Capitol Hill on Wednesday. She said she did not get the answers she was looking for. ABC News has uncovered a hard-hitting 2012 Republican National Committee (RNC) television ad attacking President Barack Obama for failed leadership on Benghazi that never ran after the Romney campaign objected over concerns the spot would detract from Romney’s focus on the economy. The ad, which is based on Hillary Clinton’s famous “3 a.m. phone call” from her failed 2008 presidential run, features a ringing phone that goes unanswered as images of the flaming U.S. consulate in Libya appear on the screen. “The Call Came…On September 12, 2012,” reads the screen.

Northwestern University continued to stumble over diversity issues this week as Mexican students voiced disagreement with a campuswide letter that advised students not to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by engaging in racially-offensive activities, such as eating tacos and drinking tequila. The letter was sent to students via e-mail, and published in The Daily Northwestern last week. Leaders of Alianza, a Latino student group, and the Associated Student Government called on students to remember that Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over France in the Battle of Puebla. It is not a day to throw a sombrero-themed party, they said.

This week, he was moved from the academy to a new post at the Detention Center while an investigation gets underway. * Detention Center Warden John Delaney has been disciplined for mishandling money while he was head of Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility. The money belonged to the prison officers´ "sunshine club" and was supposed to be used for officer activities.

Earlier in the day, Maggie and I noted that Wednesday´s Benghazi hearing on the Hill marked Hillary Clinton´s the unofficial transition from untouchable national treasure to a fair-game 2016 target for national Republicans. From ABC´s Jonathan Karl, back-handed validation of that theory: In late 2012, the Romney campaign -- struggling, as always, to attract women voters -- put the kibosh on a very, very tough RNC ad slamming Clinton on Benghazi by contrasting her response to the real attacks with her (in)famous "3 a.m." ad in 2008 which was meant to demean Barack Obama´s foreign policy chops. Karl reports:

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced Thursday that HHS will spend $150 million to teach people how to enroll in the Obamacare exchanges, after a Democratic senator scolded her for running a poor “public information campaign.” “Investing in health centers for outreach and enrollment assistance provides one more way the Obama administration is helping consumers understand their options and enroll in affordable coverage,” Sebelius said Thursday. HHS promised that the health centers would provide “unbiased information to consumers” about various provisions in the law. The health centers funding complements the navigators program, HHS noted.

The U.S. Department of Education announced Thursday that beginning with the 2014-2015 federal student aid form, the Department will — for the first time — collect income “from a dependent student’s legal parents regardless of the parents’ marital status or gender, if those parents live together.” The new FAFSA form will use terms like “Parent 1” and “Parent 2” instead of gender-specific terms like “mother” and “father.” “All students should be able to apply for federal student aid within a system that incorporates their unique family dynamics,” Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said in a statement.

While in Texas, the president will announce two new executive orders during his first of a series of “Middle Class Jobs & Opportunity Tours.” The executive actions are a fulfillment of promises made in the president’s State of the Union address this year to strengthen manufacturing. Kerry said the U.S. has expressed concerns about what such defensive systems in Syria would mean for Israel´s security. He wouldn´t address what the missiles might mean for Syria´s civil war. He spoke to reporters in Rome after the Wall Street Journal reported that Russia was preparing to sell the weapons to President Bashar Assad´s regime. Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

The White House on Wednesday stood by its story that the Obama administration remained unsure exactly who was responsible for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi nearly five days after it occurred even though new revelations show Ansar al-Sharia’s direct involvement. Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya and a self-described whistleblower, testified before a Congressional committee Wednesday that the body of Ambassador J. Christpher Stevens was missing for hours during the attack after being dragged out of the diplomatic post in Benghazi.

Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. Turnout was heavier than expected, with about 32 percent of the district’s 455,702 registered voters casting ballots. Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. The University of Cambridge released a statement Wednesday indicating that Hawking had told the Israelis last week that he would not be attending "based on advice from Palestinian academics that he should respect the boycott." University officials said they had "previously understood" that Hawking´s decision was based solely on health concerns — he is 71 and has severe disabilities — but had now been told otherwise by Hawking´s office.

Fans of Glenn Beck are complaining about what I wrote yesterday about his speech at the National Rifle Association convention, where he used a giant image of Michael Bloomberg photoshopped into what appeared to be an image of Hitler with his arm raised in a Nazi salute and wearing an armband. The Beck crowd now tells me that it wasn’t Hitler’s picture into which the New York mayor was transposed but that of Communist leader Vladimir Lenin. They say that means I owe Beck an apology along with the Anti-Defamation League and others who were also outraged by it.
