SAN DIEGO ? Say what you want about Nancy Pelosi, she got one thing right about Obama’s Affordable Care Act: We had to pass the law to find out what’s it in it. Now that some have actually bitten into this Tootsie Roll Pop, they are discovering that its crunchy outside was more palatable than the chewy center. Even labor unions, still euphoric from their love affair with Obama, are starting to see some very disturbing writing on the wall. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Labor unions enthusiastically backed the Obama administration´s
Comments: I wonder if he has ever told the truth in his life.
Obama´s health care and policies will beget less employees. I noticed it at Walmart. Now self check out, long lines for a human checkout. Higher pay, but less employees receiving it. Higher prices by 25% since Obama started. Oh, it will be grand for those employed, but most won´t have a job.
If a law is passed passed based on lies and bribes, is it really legal. The members of Congress who voted had no time to read the proposed law and no idea what was in it. There have been numerous litigants basing their claim on what was IN the law, but what about the conditions under which it was passed. Each member of Congress takes an oath, and this law was passed with NO CONSIDERATION of their Constituentcy. Is this LEGAL? Just wondering.
My paycheck is smaller by about $60 a month due to recent increase in taxes. I did my taxes and I received about $5,200 less while paying over $2,600 more in taxes in 2012. I am paying $1,200+ more in gas costs. There is no overtime anymore.
My co-workers are losing their jobs left and right (big company and they have been laying off thousands since the democrats and obama came along. I still have 2 liberals in my office that think everything is great. One was not even fazed by the $20,000 a year healthcare tax for a family of 4. He refuses to believe it despite the numbers from the IRS itself...!
As another co-worker remarked "they will stop thinking that when they lose their jobs"
An article in the WSJ listed obama´s wish list even before he ran for office and so far the tax and spend fairy has been generous, not to mention Justice Roberts and the media. Even the Economist laid out his Agenda and no one. wanted to believe it. Now he s out to destroy the GOP so watch closely. We may have libs in power for years. Hill is a shoe in, welcome to socialist medicine and to those disbelievers, yes your insurance bill is going to be a big one so put that in your fairness file. And have fun finding a specialist when you need one.
There is an unnoticed aspect of Obamacare. Premiums paid for government insurance will be based on political considerations not real cost. It becomes an unregulated system of taxation which Congress need not vote on. This is the real evil. Leave it to liberals how to figure out how to deprive citizens of their liberty.
Look, EVERYONE knew they were lies from the start. The Democrats knew it. John Roberts knew it. All the MSM knew it. But not enough people did enough to stop it. And now, nobody cares enough to try to roll it back.
That´s how Democrats work. Get it in at all costs. Then count on wussy Republicans to stay too polite to fight to get rid of it. We are totally screwed.
Op´s comment: "I wonder if he has ever told the truth in his life." The answer is: his life (as he has told it it books) is fiction. What do you expect from an "autobiography" of someone who transmogrifies?
Look, ´everyone´ knows Zippy´s so called birth certificate is a fake. There is overwhelming corroborated evidence he gave up his US citizenship along the way and never bothered to reclaim it. He is less eligible to serve than a Tuareg camel herder in Mali. Where has that gotten us??
Congress voted on it without reading it, Scalia of the Supreme Court stated that forcing the court to read it was cruel and unusual punishment but they ruled on it anyway. Clearly the President didn´t read it but it is the law of the land. How stupid can you get? What could possibly go wrong?
We have no representation - our fearless leader Boehner has already conceded - it´s the law of the land (he actually said that) - there´s no one to stand up and fight for us because they all have their exemption.
And by the by, our again re-elected Congressman in Ct., Jim Himes, put out a pre-election commercial proudly telling his children that he read all of every bill before he voted for it. More fools Fairfield County Ct.!!!!!!!!!!!
Questions for the attorneys out there. If we are equal under the law, how can Obamacare be legal? It seems to me that all these exemptions that are being handed out could be challenged in court. Where in the Constitution does it give the government the authority to treat one group differently than the any other? Isn´t this the very definition of discrimination?
$20,000 a year premiums don´t matter because the Flukes of the country got their free birth control! What a deal! $20,000 a year for $108 worth of pills. Only useful idiot leftists could go for a deal like that. When that little factoid finally seeps into little leftist brains it will be time for Sandra Fluke to hire some armed security. Add her name to the likes of Quisling, Mudd and Lewinsky.
BTW, I just have to say that the couch in the home page photo today looks just like one of Mooch´s dresses.
In my heart I do not believe that America voted for this Chicago thug. I truly believe the election was stolen just like those in third-world countries. We´ve been hijacked; convince me otherwise if you can.
This socialized medicine plan was passed into law by Obma and democrats in the house and senate ,not one republican voted for it becayse none knew what was in the bill no one even today can explain all that is in it beauricrat commies wrote this disasterto force us into a socialised country . this nis only the g major begining.
If the last election was legitimate then the majority of this poor sick Republic str out of their collective minds. On the other hand, liberalism is a religion where people are incapable of processing facts and logic and everything is taken as a matter of pure faith. Unless something drastic happens . . . we´re doomed.
Short answer to your question, #2, NO. The law was forced through by an illegal president, by using coercion, bribery, illegal exemptions of favored groups, by a congress that did not properly consider it, by forcing the purchase of something and by illegally calling that forced purchase a tax. Laws, by definition, must be applied to all. The exemption of congress and various thug unions is highly illegal. The states finally see what damage this law will cause and are backing out of its application. When people start dying from this sham legislation, the real resistance will begin. It´s not about healthcare at all, it´s about control of the people and vote buying from the underclass, all illegal under our Constitution.
Remember the brokest/brokenest state in the country is Illinois, which has been blown to debt-ridden oblivion by the control of Chicago democrats. We tried to tell you not to send them to Washington! How do you like the Chicago Way = Pay-to-Play?
"Say what you want about Obama, he is not stupid."
I agree that he is not stupid. However, he has no schooling or other background in business and economics...and he has brought on very few close staffers who have a good background in that area. I think he truly believed what he was saying - nothing Machiavellian there - but didn´t have the background to ask the right questions to truly understand what was being proposed. The devil is in the details.

I have a job and like most of us, my taxes have gone up along with the prices of food, fuel and just about everything else. I am also an adjunct professor and have been for about 10 years now. I used to teach 3 classes a year which was great - it gave me some much needed money since my raises were either non-existent or miniscule. I´ve just been informed that I get one class next year. They are cutting back on adjuncts.
Dittos #26. Just read on Drudge that Big Brother will get all our medical facts/numbers. This is going to cause more lying to our doctors, and consequently less appropriate care. But I still have faith that We The People will not stand for any of the messes the Bamster inflicts on us. People already are having their eyes opened, the hard way.

#31 -- You´re giving 0bama the benefit of the doubt. Stop it. 0bama is an ideologue and a mastermind. Ideologues care only about controlling people. They are not interested in asking the "right questions" to "truly understand" their proposals.
The wonderful thing about Illinois is that their roll of convicted governors is wholly bi-partisan. In terms of screwing the people, both parties have their rogues. As a former resident of the "Land of Lincoln", I understood "Pay to Play" was the state motto.
Equal Protection under the law - something I became aware of when SCOTUS decided for Bush in Florida - why was this not brought up in the arguments? And what was Roberts threatened with to make him change his vote? Was it something to do with an adopted child?
If our Supreme Court Chief Justice was blackmailed because of an illegal adoption and he chose to trash the country then we are in for many years of the worst trouble the USA has ever seen.
Why is the media so late to the game? Rush Limbaugh said that single-payer was the end game even before Obama was elected. Obama himself said that ultimately, single-payer was what he had in mind.
Don´t people take his word by now? He said he´d "fundamentally remake America" and he has. He said he´d put the coal companies out of business and he has. He said he wanted a "civilian police force" and although he hasn´t gotten that through yet, he is on his way to doing so.
As for Limbaugh always being right, by now people should realize that he is prescient and knows what he is talking about. The only thing he was wrong about, predicting how liberals will act at any given moment, was when he (and many of us) thought we´d win this election in a landslide.
Reading a Drudge story about the UK´s health care system this morning gave me chills: The gov´t is going to require a database of every patient´s BMI, prescriptions, cholesterol levels, drinking habits, waist measurements and other very personal medical information - REQUIRED BY LAW. It will destroy doctor-patient privilege and give the gov´t.
If you think that doesn´t appeal to Obama and his charming wife, think again. In fact, it wouldn´t surprise me to find it buried somewhere in ObamaCare. Ask Nancy. She´ll know.
This is the bait and switch. Obama and dems never wanted this to work in the first place. They will, according to them, HAVE to take over healthcare! Voila!! Single payer socialized medicine. This has been their plan all along.
You can´t keep your doctor and insurance if they both disappear. What will happen is you will have to pay for your government insurance and you can´t use it to see a good doctor. The good ones will go to an all cash business and the government doctors will be alumni of Third World U. When the Constitution was written, providing health care, education, retirement programs were not a function of government. Now its considered a right.
"If a law is passed passed based on lies and bribes, is it really legal."
The Supreme Court ruled it legal and specifically threw it back to the people to decide the issue at the polls. The people re-elected Obama. If you stayed home because Romney wasn´t Christian enough or conservative enough. .... Congratulations .... ObamaCare is the law of the land!
Unless and until "We The People" stand up and not only DEMAND action, but vote accordingly, we can kiss the constitution, the economy and the republic goodbye. The politicians could care less about polls. They are only interested in your vote, and they can count on the majority being mouth breathing, window licking idiots.
and they can count on the majority being mouth breathing, window licking idiots. Yep, 47 that is correct. We´ve made it much easier for an Alinsky-like Marxist takeover than Russia, Cuba, Vietnam, China, et al. They didn´t have to worry about Justin Bieber´s pimples or Britney´s cellulite problems and they wouldn´t have given a rip back then anyway. It´s going and it´s never coming back because waking up and pulling our heads out will make no difference even if it were possible.
Realistically, they are going to have to move to single payer (as I assume they always knew, Hillary certainly did) so that it isn´t based on employment and have a second tier plans available at high-end employers or privately.
If their hidden goal is single payer (it is certainly not the goal of the Insurance Company lobbyists who helped write this bill) payment would have to be at the Medicaid level. Many MDs and hospitals cannot survive on 100% Medicaid.
We would have to retool our medical system to a primitive Cuba-style system where MDs only have a few years of training. Or worse the UK´s NHS.
PJ Media columnist J. Christian Adams appeared on The Kelly File on Fox News on Friday to talk about his recent article detailing how the Department of Homeland Security has recently hired activist immigration attorneys who worked for pro-amnesty, pro-asylum, and open borders groups in the past. Now, sources inside DHS have provided PJ Media with the employment history and pro-amnesty backgrounds of the newly hired lawyers who will be enforcing federal immigration laws. The ideological histories of these new DHS lawyers undermine confidence that the federal government will vigorously enforce federal laws, notwithstanding any congressional “mandates” to do so.
WASHINGTON -- A longtime adviser to the U.S. Director of National Intelligence has resigned after the government learned he has worked since 2010 as a paid consultant for Huawei Technologies Ltd., the Chinese technology company the U.S. has condemned as an espionage threat, The Associated Press has learned. Theodore H. Moran, a respected expert on China´s international investment and professor at Georgetown University, had served since 2007 as adviser to the intelligence director´s advisory panel on foreign investment in the United States. Moran also was an adviser to the National Intelligence Council,
DEVELOPING: – An elderly U.S. tourist and war veteran detained for more than a month for alleged hostile acts against North Korea has been deported from that country. North Korean state media said Saturday 85-year-old Merrill Newman was released because he had apologized for his alleged crimes during the Korean War and because of his age and medical condition. It was not clear if his confession was coerced. He was taken off a plane Oct. 26 by North Korean authorities while preparing to leave the country after a 10-day tour. Vice President Joe Biden is currently in South Korea on
At the "Fast Food Forward" protest on Thursday, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) demanded that Pres. Obama sign an executive order bypassing Congress and unilaterally raising the federal minimum wage. Rep. Ellison told the crowd that they should join him in demanding that Pres. Obama skip seeking Congressional approval and raise the minimum wage on his own - and that he sent the president a letter on Wednesday presenting his demand: "We in Congress will try to raise the minimum wage. We got opponents on the other side of the aisle who say that there shouldn´t be no minimum wage. So, we
Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan joined WSJ Live host Mary Kissel on Friday where they discussed the ongoing issues associated with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Noonan said she found the way in which this administration has handled this crisis has been among the “oddest” she’s seen. Noonan added that she would like to see “humility” from President Barack Obama rather than combativeness. Kissel began by asking about the “puzzle” of the president’s response to the crisis surrounding the ACA’s faltering website. “I look at the White House the past two months, I think the president and
Another leftist lets the mask slip. Jonathan Alter believes that violent criminals imprisoned for their crimes are political prisoners. He and Al Sharpton talked to themselves on MSNBC today. Sharpton asked Alter what America might learn from the example of Nelson Mandela. Reasonable answers to this question include but are not limited to: Don’t abuse political power to punish your enemies; don’t hold on to political power forever; choose your wife or husband a bit more carefully; don’t seek to divide when unity serves the nation better. Alter wants America to learn a different lesson. None of the above. Alter
As Congress gets ready to battle on immigration reform next year, it´s important to take a look at who will help enforce and shape any kind of immigration overhaul. Former Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General and radical open borders attorney Tom Perez was safely put into the position of Labor Secretary by President Obama and the Senate earlier this year, knowing the Department of Justice is safely locked down as pro-amnesty. Perez has a long history of advocating not for American workers, but for illegal alien workers and made sure the Department of Justice was stacked with pro-amnesty attorneys
Barack Obama delivered a statement on the passing of Nelson Mandela yesterday. During his speech he told about his first public speech on apartheid at Occidental College. “I am one of the countless millions who drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s life. My very first political action, the first thing I ever did that involved an issue or a policy or politics, was a protest against apartheid. I studied his words and his writings.” But, Barack Obama forgot to mention that his speech at Occidental was sponsored by Marxists and Weatherman terrorists. Barack Obama’s first public speech was at an Occidental College event
Rep. Matt Cartwright, a member of President Obama´s Obamacare "strike team," says it´s a "good thing" that people are losing their old health care plans: "Because a lot of those people, they did have policies that didn´t meet the minimum standards. That´s just not a theoretical discussion. There´s a reason you have minimum standards. There are people out there who have insurance that´s really an illusion of coverage. They have immense deductibles, they have annual and lifetime caps. There´s so many people out there with what I call phony insurance policies and the fact that they´re going to lose those
Fresh off his interview with President Barack Obama, MSNBC host Chris Matthews appeared on Now with Alex Wagner to review what the president said and to express his thoughts on the passing of former South African President Nelson Mandela. Matthews linked the GOP to South Africa’s white apartheid advocates and declared that those who facilitated the transition to Mandela’s presidency were more patriotic and had greater regard for their country than the Republicans in Congress. Matthews acknowledged a point that Rev. Al Sharpton had made earlier in this broadcast where he noted that the last apartheid president, F.W. de Klerk, recognized
The Obama administration knew as early as August that the small-business portal on healthcare.gov would not be ready by the Oct. 1 launch, but delayed admitting those problems until Nov. 27, according to documents released by House Republicans on Friday. In one colorful email exchange in mid-August, Henry Chao, the administration official charged with the development of the online insurance marketplaces, expressed frustration with delays from the private contractor working on the website. When the contractor suggested a new date of Nov. 15 for the launch of the small-business portal of the website, Chao bluntly asked: “Can we sign this
The White House dismissed a report suggesting that President Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius did not meet ahead of the botched rollout of Obamacare. Obama press secretary Jay Carney said the claim was based on a “ridiculously false premise.” “Kathleen Sebelius comes frequently and she meets frequently with the president,” he said. “She’s here a lot and meets with the president with regularity.” “It’s safe to say Secretary Sebelius spent a lot of time here,” he added, noting the administration’s focus on health care reform. The report from Politico Magazine noted that a Government Accountability Institute analysis of the president’s
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by

Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
One definition of a pathological liar is someone who lies where the truth would serve just as well. When President Obama’s uncle, Onyango Obama, was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving, the truth — that Obama had stayed with his uncle years earlier for several weeks as a Harvard law student — would have served the president just fine. No potential Obama voter would have held it against him that an uncle he had stayed with two decades earlier was picked up for DUI. Yet the White House went with a lie, claiming that Obama had never met his uncle. Now that
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month. “It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy. “All because Republicans in this Congress — which is on track to be the most unproductive in history — have so far refused to extend it” Mr. Obama said. If Congress doesn’t act before lawmakers leave on their holiday break, about
