| President Obama is on the verge of completing his socialist revolution. Remarkably, he is about to be aided and abetted by some Republicans — including leaders of the Tea Party. Who says politics doesn’t make for strange bedfellows? At a recent major policy speech in Las Vegas, Mr. Obama pushed for comprehensive immigration reform. In particular, this reform contains one seminal proposal: a pathway to legalized status for 11 million to 20 million illegal aliens. In short, the president is calling for amnesty. Former President George W. Bush sought to pass similar legislation in 2007.
|
Comments: "For Republicans, amnesty is a poisoned chalice." Indeed it is. For Republicans to fall for this is so depressing. 0bama plays them like a fiddle.

Mexicans illegally in the USA are not immigrants, they are economic migrants, most are happy and proud to be Mexicans and simply want to be allowed to work in the USA with dignity and to be able to travel back and forth to Mexico as they wish. They could care less about US sovereignty issues and believe that the borderline is illegitimate. Most are content remaining Mexican citizens and do not really wish to be US citizens. The only people who want to make all Mexicans US citizens are the Democrats and their allies, the very liberal ethnic and immigrant advocacy groups who organize and operate in ethnic and immigrant communities. The Democrats and their allied groups recognize that most illegal aliens are poor generally uneducated people who earn low wages and need access to all sorts of social service, benefit and welfare programs to survive in high cost of living America. In return for those people´s prospective votes the Democrats and their allies will promise all sorts of rights, benefits, and services that the Republicans could never out bid and remain the party of small government. If the Republicans go along with any sort of path to citizenship amnesty, that by the way has never been offered before in the history of immigration law, the Republican share of the Hispanic vote may well go up a few points, but the Democrats will get 10 million or more new foreign born voters as a result of such a liberal Amnesty. Bottom line it will be curtains for the Republicans who will have committed long-term political suicide, who will be completely unable to win future national elections after the Democrats flip Arizona, Florida, and Texas to politically resemble what California is today.

It´s not amnesty when you have to apply, pay the back taxes, pay a fine (I suggest 3000-5000, and I´d call it an application fee), pass background check, and then be issued a green card. Then, you´d be on probation for 5 years. Only then can you then apply for citizenship, which puts you at the back of the line, and another 10+ year wait.

Sorry #4 - Rewarding lawbreakers with the opportunity of citizenship (even with a price tag) is amnesty. Under no circumstances should we be offering citizenship to illegals.

Interesting comment on Rubio.
"a pathway to legalized status for 11 million to 20 million illegal aliens."
That´s a big difference. In other words, they have no clue how many.

#4, What is the enforcement trigger if they do not pay their back taxes? None. They will STILL get that green card and access to freebies of all sorts. Second, they are not in any sort of line. They STAY here and thereby are jumping ahead of everyone doing it legally. Even Rubio is lying (sorry) when he said they won´t have access to Obamacare.

#4, Most illegal aliens do not have the thousands of dollars that you say they should pay in a fine or an application fee. That will never happen, as the Democrats will insert a waiver of such a fine or fee for low income people applying for amnesty in whatever legislation they vote on.
The paying back taxes factor that you mention, also will never happen, as most illegal aliens because of their low incomes and large numbers of dependents many times fraudulently claimed do not have any bottom line tax liability, and the the only reason they file a tax return is to collect a tax refund along with as many tax credits as they possibly can.
Every legal alien must routinely submit to fingerprinting and a background investigation before they are allowed to enter the USA for permanent residence.
So you can see that the supposed hoops that you laid out amount to nothing, and this whole deal amounts to nothing more then a massive amnesty, no matter what the politicians call it. Don´t feel bad, that´s what the politicians always do with contentious issues like amnesty, as they have to try to fool as many people as possible to get their amnesty passed.

Federal officials used the power of the state to intimidate and harass critics of President Obama and the federal government. When the higher levels of the Internal Revenue Service learned that one office was inappropriately targeting Tea Party groups, these officials nevertheless denied it -- until they were forced to fess up. If you needed another reason to distrust your government and oppose its expansion, the IRS just gave it to you. Judging by available evidence and an inspector general´s report released this week, the story here is not a Nixonian White House using all of government´s tools

Deep in the list of taxes that the president´s Obamacare plan will hit Americans with is a 40 percent excise tax on health plans typical union members have, especially in Midwest states, according to a new analysis. The Obamacare tax won´t take place until 2018, but when it does it will smack high cost, or so-called "Cadillac" health insurance plans, according to the group Americans for Tax Reform. "This tax will most directly affect union families and early retirees, who are likely to be covered by such plans," said ATR in a review of upcoming tax

People may recall that in Barack Obama’s June 4, 2009 speech in Cairo, the president promised a “new beginning” based on “mutual respect” with the Arab and Islamic world. Mr. Obama’s own background, his eagerness to apologize for America, and willingness to engage the Arab world would usher in an unprecedented era of cooperation. Mr. Obama said, “We have the power to make the world we seek.” He added: but only if we have the courage to make a new beginning, keeping in mind what has been written. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday that Republicans are “hyperventilating about Benghazi,” and "President Obama was absolutely right to call this a sideshow." “They’re hyperventilating about Benghazi. President Obama was absolutely right to call this a sideshow. This is about smear politics and nothing else,” Reid said. As CNSNews.com previously reported on Monday, Obama called the congressional probe of the Benghazi attack a “political circus” and a “sideshow,” adding that there’s “no there, there.” The controversy over talking points was politically motivated, Obama said. Obama and administration officials had claimed the Benghazi terrorist attack

The Internal Revenue Service allegedly told an Iowa pro-life group they had to sign documents promising not to protest or picket Planned Parenthood and they told a Texas pro-life organization they had to promote abortion, according to documents obtained by Fox News. “The IRS was concerned about advocacy,” said Sally Wagenmaker, special counsel to the Thomas More Society. “The (agent) said picketing and protesting is not allowed.” She said the IRS’s role “should only be to determine whether organizations fit the section 501(c)(3) test for ‘charitable, religious, or educational’ qualification, not to inquire about the content of

In a matter of days, the Obama administration has done something that the president´s political opponents have failed to do over four and a half years: inflicted serious damage to President Obama´s public standing. Obama has throughout his presidency aggressively combated GOP criticism -- on issues large and small -- mocking the attacks as political theater short on facts. But with his own administration now embroiled in a flurry of controversies, including IRS mistreatment of conservative groups and the Justice Department´s secret monitoring of journalists´ phones, the president is coming across not

WASHINGTON- President Barack Obama says the acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, Steven Miller, has submitted his resignation in the aftermath of an investigation that found the agency improperly targeted conservative groups. Obama says Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew requested Miller´s resignation. Obama says he also insists that safeguards be put in place to prevent reoccurrence of improper actions. Obama has been under pressure to act in the aftermath of acknowledgement by top IRS officials that conservative groups were improperly singled out.

A number of Republicans have said the recent revelation that IRS officials had targeted conservative groups leaves the agency with no credibility as it prepares to implement those parts of the reform law under its watch. But Rep. Rosa DeLauro (Conn.), head of the Democrats´ Steering and Policy Committee, said Wednesday that, while the targeting episode is "outrageous,"

It is time for President Obama and his Administration to act and it is our duty as Americans to hold them accountable,” he added. The resolution finds that “the Internal Revenue Service engaged in discriminatory behavior” and calls for an independent authority to investigate “and, if applicable, seek criminal charges against any individuals who authorized or were involved in

As a metaphor for big government, it is hard to top the Justice Department’s seizing of journalists’ phone records from The Associated Press. Unless, of course, you think the best example is the Internal Revenue Service turning the screws on groups it viewed as conservative and, therefore, unworthy of fair treatment. Or maybe the winner is the sneaky spreading of ObamaCare’s tentacles, with insurance companies now predicting the law will drive up the cost of individual premiums by as much as 400 percent. There are no losers in this race to the bottom — except the American people. It is tempting

President Passerby needs urgently to become a participant in his presidency. Late Monday came the breathtaking news of a full-frontal assault on the First Amendment by his administration: word that the Justice Department had gone on a fishing expedition through months of phone records of Associated Press reporters. And yet President Obama reacted much as he did to the equally astonishing revelation on Friday that the IRS had targeted conservative groups based on their ideology: He responded as though he were just some bloke on a bar stool, getting his information from the evening news.

One Democrat who likes Obama and has been around town for many years said elected officials in his own party are no different than Republicans: they think the president is distant and unapproachable. “He has never taken the Democratic chairs up to Camp David to have a drink or to have a discussion,” the longtime Washingtonian said. “You gotta stroke people, and talk to them. It’s like courting: you have to send flowers and candy and have surprises. It’s a constant process. Now they’re saying, ‘He never talked to me in the good times.’ ”

Attorney General Eric Holder has recused himself from the Associated Press leak investigation. He will officially announce his recusal at a press conference Tuesday afternoon. Fox News is reporting his recusal comes partially because Holder has testified about potential national security leaks surrounding a May 7, 2012 Associated Press story. Yesterday, the Associated Press revealed the Department of Justice had been secretly monitoring both the personal and work phones of numerous AP editors and reporters. DOJ responded to these revelations by releasing the following

New York -- Is Rush Limbaugh becoming a relic, a human version of "Mad Men," except without the style or cool clothes? Has Limbaugh become as dated as Jazzercise or "Macarena?" All you need to do is look at the bottom line to see that Limbaugh is in trouble. Limbaugh once raked in the big bucks for his radio syndicator, Cumulus. But last week, Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey made it clear those days are over. Dickey reported that Cumulus had lost millions of dollars in ad sales because many advertisers no longer want to be associated with Limbaugh.

As the IRS scandal piled on to the Obama administration’s already mounting oversight problems, wary Democrats gave early indications that they may not stand in lockstep with the White House on its latest looming investigations. And this even before news broke that the Justice Department secretly obtained two months’ worth of Associated Press phone records, mortifying free-press advocates. Sen. Today, as the storm grew over the IRS targeting of the Tea Party and other conservative groups,
