Bush´s black Scottish terrier who became famous during his White House tenure for the “Barney Cam” videos, has died, the Bushes announced on Friday. “He never discussed politics and was always a faithful friend. Laura and I will miss our pal,” Bush said in a statement. The dog, who was twelve years old, had been suffering from lymphoma. The Barney Christmas cams were a hoot and I always looked forward to seeing them. He was loved and you can´t ask for much more than that. He will be missed. I hope they get a new companion for Mrs. Beasley and especially Laura. It was obvious how much she loved her dogs. RIP Barney. You did good and probably didn´t even know it.

Three images come to my mind: Barney tugging on W´s pant leg at a Rose Garden press conference with a visiting head of state; W pulling over a Segway scooter (the press called him clumsy!) to avoid hitting Barney, who had unexpectedly darted in front of it; and a picture of W carrying Barney with both of them in profile against a blue sky. Same tilt of the head, same firm jaw, same eyebrows. Then there was Barney biting a member of the White House press corps. Good Dog.

Very sad. Barney was such a spunky, bright little fellow.
You can tell a great deal about people by how they treat their animals, and it was obvious that the Bush family are loving, caring folks who enjoy sharing their home with these sweet creatures.
May they find comfort in their memories.

How sad! I loved watching Barney waddle alongside Mrs. Bush as they strolled the White House grounds. I remember one Christmas when Barney "hosted" a tour of his home for the media. Obama´s Portuguese Water Dog can´t hold a candle to him.

The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

Get ready for the last straw. First, though, I´d like to suggest that anyone reading this column in a local newspaper or news site pat the editor on the back for publishing what in our neo-medieval world of fear amounts to a forbidden column. Yup, I am about to say something about the Great Barack Obama Identity/Eligibility Scandal again. SANFORD - Trayvon Martin´s parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against the homeowners association of the Sanford subdivision where their teenage son was killed. Their attorney, Benjamin Crump, filed that paperwork at the Seminole County Courthouse, a portion of which was made public today.
