Texas Governor Rick Perry claimed this week that the health of the U.S. economy is dependent in large part on Texas. Perry said, “You think about what’s happening in the country, job-wise, economic impact-wise, if you were to take Texas out of that mix, this country would be in trouble.” Texas has done so well under Perry that he wants to give $1.8 billion in tax rebates to the people of Texas, saying, “That money will do more good in the hands of taxpayers and citizens.” Because the Texas state constitution forbids such a move, Perry says he will try to pass a constitutional amendment so he can give the people their money back.

I´m actually enjoying Rick Perry. First, it was UN election observers (show up and we´ll arrest you); next, Obama Care (uh, no thanks), then gun laws (won´t enforce), now this obvious truth. He keeps poking a stick in the Left´s eye. He get´s the 10th Amendment and says that Texas should not be penalized for California´s lousy decisions (socialism) and with this he´s putting the focus on the benefits of good policy. Keep it up, Rick!

The skill, knowledge, experience in the petroleum industry is keeping everyone from entry level attorneys to "rough necks" in the the 6 figure income bracket.
I´ve been told, due to lack of mineral ownership work in the past....100 years, there is enough curative title work in Eastern Ohio for one young lawyer I know to do until he retires.
Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana are providing the basic work force from the local level to North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

The proximity to all the new and growing industry in Mexico helps as well. There is a lot of transportation and support in Southern Texas for all that goes on Industrially South of the border.

Gov Perry is certainly becoming more of a right leaning conservative as he ages. He almost lost me completely when he mandated females had to be inoculated from cancer. Difficult to recover from that stumble. He has morphed into an ok guy.

The more I think about it - we, in the other states that aren´t doing so well, should heavily tax rich, Texas . . . sort´a in the spirit of passing some of the wealth around and income redistribution!

#12 has it right. Instead of arguing about secession, perhaps we should try a different tactic: expulsion. We´d have a pretty good country if we could expel Boston, NY, Detroit, LA, and San Francisco. And then pass an anti-immigration bill so that all those folks can´t move to Miami.
Obama should thank his lucky stars for Texas and Rick Perry.

Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt penned a moving post to his Facebook page Monday night in response to the Boston Marathon bombings that killed three and injured at least 150 people. Oswalt’s touching words immediately went viral. He opened his post bluntly. “Boston. F***ing horrible,” he wrote. “I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, ‘Well, I’ve had it with humanity.’” He continued, “But I was wrong. I don’t know what’s going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.”

A very courageous fifth-grade teacher in the Chicago Public Schools has written a scathing critique of the almost comical misery she and her students endured when they participated in a massive February 28 event kicking off Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Active Schools campaign. The First Lady’s campaign is an effort to improve (and in some cases, bring back) physical education in American schools. White House officials called the event “a groundbreaking, earth-shattering, awesomely-inspiring day.” Lisa Putnam and her fifth grades most certainly did not experience the event the same way, however.

President Obama must have been stunned at the "audacity" of Dr. Benjamin Carson in challenging his core assumptions right to his face in front of thousands of people at the National Prayer Breakfast. Obama is not used to being challenged, especially in public, even if indirectly and without being specifically named. From the look on his face, it was obvious Obama was none too pleased with Carson´s message or with his "presumptuousness" in presenting it in that forum, while he had to sit still and -- remain silent.

Jeff Flake if the Arizona Republican votes against legislation to expand background checks. At a Christian Science Monitor breakfast on Tuesday, Kelly said he would back an opponent to Flake if the "right candidate" was available and if the senator failed to support a background check bill, according to reports.
