Sure, Chuck Hagel might have been a bumbling, stumbling mess at his confirmation hearing yesterday. But the real story was how awful were the Republicans who questioned him. That was the collective judgment of today´s Morning Joe panel. For example, so contemptuous was Joe Scarborough of Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, that the Morning Joe host announced that he would not even mention him by name. "Clown show" was the panel´s operative phrase for the Republican performance. Andrea Mitchell, Mika Brzezinski,
Comments: And I´m extremely contemptuous of Scarborough. Sen. Cruz is one of the few bright spots in Washington. They hate him because he is going to make a huge impact. They thought the Republicans´ questioning of Hagel was a clown show? Look in the mirror.
joe go away...dont care what you think.....not now..not ever again..i listened to cruz...he was brilliant.....something you wouldnt know about...if more senators would demand answers like that...perhaps menendez would get his 30 years...............and all the other criminals who set in judgement of others.....i hear mel reynolds is running for jessie jrs seat.....are the people of chicago just plain BRAIN DEAD....guess so...
Joe, the deadwood, Andrea the brain dead ninny and Mika the blonde bimbo--what a CLOWN SHOW on MSNBC!! Atleast someone was asking questions, instead of kissing Hagel´s beeehind like his former colleagues among dRats were doing. This was the same kind of "scratch my back" mentality that resulted in Benghazi, Mali and now Turkey.
They are going after Cruz already. What conservatives need is about 25 politicians as vibrant, insightful and fearless as Cruz. They can´t isolate and destroy 25 politicians all at once. But they can isolate and destroy one fearless conservative politician. The GOP won´t back Cruz like they wouldn´t back Palin or any other conservative.
I must disagree with Comrade Scarborough and his cohorts. The video evidence of Senator Cruz disemboweling ****uck Hagel was so impressive that I passed it along under the title, "Ted Cruz Crushes a Cockroach."
Here, I´ll share it with you, too: http://tinyurl.com/aczlydw H/T to Paul Mirengoff, Power Line.
The first line of #5´s post says it all. Ted Cruz is already like a 2x4 upside the head of these leftist fools. Thanx, Texas, for giving him to us.
[Does my memory serve me correctly? Didn´t a brilliant American patriot go to Texas to rally for Ted Cruz? And didn´t she and her husband Todd stop for Chik-fil-A on the way to the airport? I think we´re gonna be OK, folks. We´ve got lottsa live heroes/heroines...and others...to encourage us.]
The good Senator Cruz is the new Palin. Scarborough and MSNBC constantly demeaning him just an indication of the real threat he poses to them. Noticed yesterday that RNC folks, spinners for our side yesterday didn´t want to single out Cruz for the praise he deserved either. He is the brightest star we have now, IMHO.
Senator Ted Cruz is doing what the other so-called conservative republicans are afraid to do-- he is telling it like it is!
Its nice to have someone who talks straight and isn´t wussified by all the compromised and cowed washington representatives. He has even inspired his cohort from Texas to find his pair after Washington Kay left town!
Cruz earned his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He was an editor of the Harvard Law Review, an executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review.
Cruz also served as a law clerk to William Rehnquist, Chief Justice of the United States, and J. Michael Luttig of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Cruz was the first Hispanic ever to clerk for a Chief Justice of the United States.
Cruz has authored more than 80 briefs before the United States Supreme Court and presented 43 oral arguments, including nine before the United States Supreme Court.
For all of the incessant and on-going speculation about Hillary Clinton´s 2016 campaign — two days of stories about the Clinton Foundation, stepping to the center of New York City´s mayoral debate — one point is worth making. There is nothing — no poll, no historic data, no web indicators — which tells us much about how likely a Clinton victory would be. It´s far too early for polls. In June of 2009 — slightly farther away from 2012 than 2016 is from now — CNN reported on a poll looking at the Republican presidential primary.
ESPN has fired Numbers Never Lie host and former NFL star Hugh Douglas after he purportedly called his co-host Michael Smith a “house n*gger” and an “Uncle Tom” during a drunken confrontation earlier this month. During the National Association of Black Journalists Convention earlier this month in Orlando, Douglas allegedly shouted the slurs at his co-host. Deadspin was the first to report on the incident: Douglas was, again, very drunk. Lots of people were drinking, so this was less of a big deal, but then he started making some movements toward the stage at the club. … One person told
The article on the Clinton Foundation the New York Times published today is a reminder of what you inevitably get with Bill and Hillary Clinton: tremendous smarts, drive, ambition ... and a lot of baggage. "For all of its successes, the Clinton Foundation had become a sprawling concern, supervised by a rotating board of old Clinton hands, vulnerable to distraction and threatened by conflicts of interest," Nicholas Confessore and Amy Chozick report. "It ran multimillion-dollar deficits for several years, despite vast amounts of money flowing in. And concern was rising inside and outside the organization about Douglas J. Band,
A new law in Washington DC allows individuals to change the sex designation on their birth certificate based on the gender they personally identify as, no matter what sexual organs they actually have. It´s called the Marriage Officiant Amendment Act of 2013 and it repeals the old law that requires a surgical sex-change operation for an official gender switch on an individual´s birth certificate. Now, people who want to change their assigned sex in the eyes of the state only need to provide a written request and a signed statement from a healthcare provider. Mayor Vincent Gray framed the new law in
What,” Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani was asked, “is [Islam’s] judgment on sodomy and lesbianism?” “Forbidden,” he curtly pronounced. “Those involved in the act should be punished. In fact, sodomites should be killed in the worst manner possible.” So what does Barack Obama have to say about that? Cynically mounting his high horse last week in the cozy confines of Jay Leno’s late-night TV comedy program — a venue popular with his ill-informed admirers, one where hypocrisy won’t be noticed, much less challenged — the president declaimed, “I have no patience for countries that try to treat gays or lesbians or transgender persons in ways
Business mogul Donald Trump said the GOP would need a “perfect candidate” to prevent Democratic favorite Hillary Clinton from winning in 2016, warning that Republicans faced a tougher fight than the campaigns against President Obama. “She will be tougher to beat. Actually, she´ll be tougher to beat than President Obama in my opinion,” Trump said in an interview Tuesday with Fox News’s Great Van Susteren. Polls show former Secretary of State Clinton is the clear frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic nomination, but she has yet to declare whether she will consider a run. Trump, who flirted with running for the GOP nomination in
The White House on Tuesday released a new report arguing a pathway to citizenship for the nation´s 11 million illegal immigrants would add 2 million jobs to the economy and boost gross domestic product by $1.4. trillion over the next decade. The report, penned by Director of Domestic Policy Cecilia Muñoz and Director of the National Economic Council Gene Sperling, is the latest in a series of releases touting the economic benefits of comprehensive immigration reform as the White House pushes House Republicans to act on the issue.
If you like your ridiculously high cell phone bill, there’s good news: President Obama wants to make it even higher! The president is pushing a plan to raise money by hiking cell phone fees and use the revenue generated to wire up local schools with high-speed Internet access. The idea of allowing states and towns to figure out how to pay for their own Internet access is evidently anathema to this administration, as is the idea that government should stay within its constitutional boundaries. He’s also planning to do this without input from Congress, via the Federal Communications Commission,
Republicans on Tuesday trumpeted what they view as a second fatal blow to Obamacare, the president’s signature legislative achievement, after the revelation that the Obama administration had delayed until 2015 the law’s cap on out-of-pocket costs for medical care. “First, it was Christmas — and now it’s our birthday,” said a giddy senior House GOP leadership aide. GOP leaders were already getting traction from the Obama administration’s decision to delay until 2015 the mandate requiring larger employers to purchase health insurance for their employees.
Frustrated by his failure to convince House Republicans to vote for his amnesty legislation, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., threatened conservatives that President Obama would unilaterally give all illegal immigrants amnesty if the House does not vote on his bill. Speaking to Tampa’s, Fla.., WFLA, Rubio said, “I believe that this president will be tempted, if nothing happens in Congress, to issue an executive order as he did for the Dream Act kids a year ago, where he basically legalizes 11 million people by the sign of a pen.”
The Pentagon says it is considering sequester-induced overhauls that could mean shuttering two combatant commands, eight service-supporting commands, and the elimination of some 5,000 uniformed and civilian personnel. With defense spending facing roughly $500 billion in cuts over the next ten years, the Pentagon is examining the possibility of combining Northern Command and Southern Command, dissolving Africa Command and divvying it up between European Command and Central Command, and expanding Pacific Command to encompass Afghanistan and Pakistan. The move to merge Northern and Southern Command would also likely signal the increasing involvement of the U.S. military in law enforcement activities
When babies are born, they have little choice but to trust their caregivers, who are usually the parents. As they mature and are able to distinguish one person from another, they tend to show great preference for the parents with whom they have bonded. A trusting relationship develops that should remain intact throughout life, barring violation of that trust. Unfortunately, in some cases, the baby or young child suffers abandonment, abuse or some other form of emotional injury, and the trust is violated. Often the relational rupture cannot be repaired or requires extensive explanations and alteration of behavior to heal.
The sales assistant who refused to show U.S. talkshow billionaire Oprah Winfrey a luxury handbag costing nearly £25,000 claims the superstar lied about what happened in the luxury Swiss boutique where she works. Speaking anonymously to Sunday newspaper SonntagsBlick, the Italian bag lady said she felt ´powerless´ and in the grip of a ´cyclone´ after Winfrey went on TV in America to claim she had been the victim of racism. Winfrey was in Switzerland in July when she walked into the Trois Pommes boutique in Zurich looking for a handbag to match the outfit she was going to
President Obama asserted the unilateral power to "tweak" inconvenient laws in last Friday´s news conference, underscoring his Administration´s increasingly cavalier notions about law enforcement. So it´s good that the judiciary—a coequal branch of government, in case the Administration forgot—is starting to check the White House. In a major rebuke on Tuesday, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals issued an unusual writ of mandamus, which is a direct judicial order compelling the government to fulfill a legal obligation. This "extraordinary remedy" is nominally about nuclear waste, writes Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the 2-1 majority, yet the case "raises significant questions about the
LOS ANGELES -- Oprah Winfrey says she's "sorry" a media frenzy emerged after saying she experienced racism during a trip to Switzerland."I think that incident in Switzerland was just an incident in Switzerland. I'm really sorry that it got blown up. I purposefully did not mention the name of the store. I'm sorry that I said it was Switzerland," Winfrey said "I was just referencing it as an example of being in a place where people don't expect that you would be able to be there," she continued. In recent interview with "Entertainment Tonight," Winfrey recalled a clerk at an upscale Zurich boutique refusing to show her a handbag. Winfrey said she was told she could not afford the $38,000 purse. Staff has added more text.
Oprah Winfrey says she´s kinda sorta "sorry" for the fallout that ensued after she told the media about a "racist" encounter at a purse store in Switzerland ... saying, "I´m really sorry that it got blown up." Yeah, right. Oprah addressed the media at the premiere of "The Butler" in L.A. last night -- backpedaling after the shop in question started to refute O´s allegations of racism during an incident last month. The shop owner says the whole thing was a "misunderstanding" and had "nothing to do with racism." Last night, Oprah said ... "I think that incident in Switzerland."
On August 12, Joe DiGenova, attorney for one of the Benghazi whistleblowers, told Washington D.C.´s WMAL that one of the reasons people have remained tight-lipped about Benghazi is because 400 U.S. missiles were "diverted to Libya" and ended up being stolen and falling into "the hands of some very ugly people." DiGenova represents Benghazi whistleblower Mark Thompson. He told WMAL that he "does not know whether [the missiles] were at the annex, but it is clear the annex was somehow involved in the distribution of those missiles."
The Missouri chapter of the NAACP appealed for the U.S. Department of Justice and the Secret Service to launch an investigation and open a federal case against the rodeo clown who donned a mask of President Obama’s face and mocked with the crowd: Do you want to see a bull run down Mr. Obama? The NAACP says the clown was guilty of inciting violence against the president. In a statement reported by Breitbart, the NAACP’s state president, Mary Ratliff, wrote: “The activities at the Missouri State Fair targeting and inciting violence against our president are serious and warrant a full
Last week I wrote a column about the reality that House Republicans are ready to cave on so-called comprehensive immigration reform. There was a final paragraph in that column my editor decided not to use. That is the editor’s right for two reasons: one, every site has a voice they wish to adhere to interns of form and content; and two, he who pays, gets the final say. Ironically, what was omitted by my editor was not lost on scores of astute letter writers who commented on the piece. I would like them to know that I have the same feelings
IRS? A system of voluntary tax compliance cannot survive a dishonest IRS. Lois Lerner and company have virtually ruined the agency. For the foreseeable future, each time an American receives a tax query, he will wonder to what degree his politics ensures enhanced or reduced scrutiny — or whether his name as a donor, activist, or partisan has put him on a watch list. Worse still, when a high commissioner of the IRS takes the 5th Amendment, it sends a frightening message: those audited go to jail when they refuse to testify; those who audit them who do the same
In the wake of a rodeo clown’s anti-Obama skit this weekend, the Missouri State Fair is forcing all clowns to undergo sensitivity training. The state fair commission voted Monday to ratify the decision to ban the clown in question who wore an Obama mask as the rodeo announcer asked if the crowd wanted to see him get run down by a bull. The crowd enthusiastically approved, according to local media reports. But the state commission went further, saying it will require that before the Rodeo Cowboy Association can take part in any future state fair, “they must provide evidence to
Over the weekend, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is “for big government and trying to go along to get along.” She added that Christie has “got a schtick going there where he’s got a YouTube videographer following him around, kind of these set-up situations sometimes so he can be seen as perhaps a little bit avant-garde and going rogue on things.” Christie said nothing in return. He should. Here’s why.Taking on Palin is good politics for Christie or Jeb Bush or anyone else who is planning to run as a quasi-establishment candidate for president in
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday that she will soon tour the nation and deliver a series of speeches to promote more trust in government. She made her remarks at an annual American Bar Association meeting in San Francisco. More specifically, Mrs. Clinton said she was launching a series of speeches on foreign policy. And as part of those addresses, she planned to speak about the need to restore faith in government, Breitbart reported. She also bashed voter identification laws, telling 1,000 members of the
The father of one of three Florida teens charged in a vicious school bus attack said his son is “sorry” for taking part in the July beating that made national headlines. As the trio headed to court on Tuesday, Julian McKnight said his son Julian, 15, has also suffered in the aftermath of the July 9 attack on a Pinellas County school bus after it left Lealman Intermediate School in the St. Petersburg-area community of Gulfport. “All I can say is that he had his consequences already, you know?” McKnight said. “This is life. I am sorry what happened
