Welfare boss resigns in wake
of $$ report

Boston Herald, by Chris Cassidy

Original Article

Posted By:John c, 2/1/2013 10:11:42 AM

The state’s embattled welfare chief was forced to step down yesterday in the wake of a shocking internal report that found that a staggering 47,000 families receiving taxpayer-funded benefits are unaccounted for — and nearly $30 million in food stamp money went to recipients who were not eligible. The shocking report, released to the Herald last night, found that the Department of Transitional Assistance has lost track of 47,087 households on welfare — or one out of 10 of the total 478,000 who received DTA mailings.

Comments:
MA a one party state. Not unusual for this liberal and incompetent administration. Going on for years. patrick, the next obama appointment.

Yep, the welfare system is loaded with fraud. I´ll bet one can show up in street bum clothes, get on the dole and have the check sent to a PO box. And so it goes...

Not shocking to me; I live here. I blame the governor (Deval Patrick; aka Obama-Lite). When it became known that people were scamming the system with illegal EBT (welfare) card purchases, even the Dem-controlled legislature tried to clamp down, but Patrick vetoed them.

Nice to see that the fine tradition of corruption and political largesse that has distinguished Massachusetts politics since the late 1800´s is still being observed.

Immense FUNDAMENTAL change is required before this country can reverse its course.

Until then, we will continually be distracted by Beyonce´s lip syncing scandal, football players with fake girlfriends, American Idol, and "who´s in first place for the 2016 elections?"

Don´t be distracted.

It is shocking that they did a actual report. Must be a lot worse than this for them to think they could do a report to show it isn´t as bad as it really is.

So glad the Mrs and I left the Peoples Democrat Socialist Republic of Masshole years ago. We use to feel sorry for family and friends who had to "endure" such corruption. But we came to realize that either they are too willfully stupid or myopic to see it or are actually benefiting from the many "temporary safety nets" all these many years...

I suspect, but have no proof, that many of those collecting welfare in massachusetts are collecting welfare in another state - probably New York.
And they would do that with false IDs and borrowed social security numbers.

Seems voter ID rolls in NY and Florida should be crosschecked for double voting and prosecuted.
Same with welfare and mass and ny and Vermont.

If you can’t legislate, then regulate. President Barack Obama’s second-term agenda may end up depending as much on regulation and subsidization as it does on legislation. Faced with a Republican-controlled House that rejects most of his legislative goals, and facing potential opposition from Senate Republicans and a half-dozen Democratic senators on issues such as gun control, Obama’s ability to carry out policy changes hinges on his Cabinet and his appointees running regulatory bodies. Three Senate confirmation hearings this week put the focus on the regulatory agenda:

A Brooklyn federal judge has ordered the Food and Drug Administration to make the morning-after pill available to females of all ages without a prescription. Judge Edward Korman on Friday reversed the FDA´s 2011 decision limiting the over-the-counter availability of the emergency contraceptive known as Plan B to women 17 and older. He gave the agency 30 days to decide only whether the pills’ package should include additional labeling. The standards for determining whether a consumer can understand how to use an over-the-counter drug safely and effectively is the same for aspirin as it is for contraceptives, Korman noted.

The 250-page report offers an inside glimpse of systemic racialist dysfunction inside one of the most powerful federal government agencies. The report was prepared in response to Representative Frank Wolf’s (R-VA) outrage over the New Black Panther voter intimidation dismissal.

Those who like to deride her as the “fake Indian” should know: Freshman U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has done more for your wallet in the past two weeks than Scott Brown did in two years and most of Congress has managed in their entire careers. Warren crushed and humiliated, first, federal banking regulators, and then Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke on why both sit on their hands while big banks keep shafting average Americans — even though average Americans’ tax dollars bailed them out. Warren did this calmly, graciously, politely, in complete control and without ever reading a note. And she reduced both Bernanke and Elisse Walter, chairman of the mighty Securities and Exchange Commission, to gulping and stammering.

WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court has rejected the state of Alaska’s attempt to remove polar bears from the threatened species list. Friday’s decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has major implications, because polar bears were the first species to be listed solely on the basis of threats to their survival from global warming. The D.C. appeals court affirmed a lower court ruling supporting the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision to put polar bears on the federal threatened list.

Assembly members voted 7-4 to allow the proposal to proceed to a public hearing on Feb. 26. Assembly members Dick Traini, Paul Honeman, Elvi Gray-Jackson and Patrick Flynn voted to kill the plan outright. Sullivan says the sweeping changes are long overdue and necessary to streamline labor negotiations and deliver city services cheaper and more efficiently.

Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
