Hagel Confirmation Hearing:
The Mother of All Bombs

PJ Media, by Bridget Johnson

Original Article

When Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stepped before two congressional committees on Benghazi this month, she was ready for every question fielded at her and, save for the infamous “what does it matter” moment, didn’t crumple under the pressure. Today, President Obama was likely wishing some of that preparedness would have rubbed off on his Defense secretary nominee. Chuck Hagel’s confirmation hearing before his former Senate colleagues was, in a nutshell, a minefield despite the simple, predictable questions lobbed his way. In short, he appeared exceptionally uncomfortable and unsure

Comments:
All he had to do was smile and lie. That comes as easy to a RINO, right?

Our Military may soon be in real trouble and from our own Pentagon.

He could not have looked worse, big bags under his eyes, very unhealthy looking, unable to answer essential questions regarding the intervention of the US in world affairs. Couldn´t have been more pathetic in his preparation.

I believe ValJar chose Hagel. Puppetmistress chose an easy mark for her to control.

My bet is that he´ll implode and ValJar will get her REAL nominee in there. Any bets?

John Brennan at CIA is just as bad, but he will sail through.

Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro makes no secret of his devotion to the late leader Hugo Chavez - and now he has admitted he sometimes sleeps in the mausoleum where his mentor´s remains are kept. Mr Maduro, who served as Mr Chavez´s vice president, was named by him as his successor before he died. He said he likes to be close to the former leader´s remains so he can "carefully consider" his actions. Mr Maduro went on: "I sometimes come at night. At times, many times, I sleep here." Sometimes, he brings an entourage: "We enter at night and we stay to sleep. At night we reflect on things here."

This week, this website ran a piece which was very popular with readers. Call me a miserable cynic, but I found it one of the most indulgent pieces of tripe in history. So here´s what happens next. We run Shannon Kaiser´s list again and I tell you what I think of each of the author´s points. And everybody goes away happy - cynics, fans, everybody. Because you see, the true secret to happiness is not mindless, second-hand, doge-eared platitudes and faux nuggets of wisdom like Kaiser´s woeful excuse for a list. It's saying what you really think and being bold enough to stand behind it.

Columbia - A retweet by a Republican challenger to Lindsey Graham referred to the U.S. senator as “Nancy boy graham,” according to a government watchdog website. The retweet, which came from Nancy Mace’s twitter account @nancymace Tuesday, was deleted 10 minutes later, according to the Sunlight Foundation’s Politwoops, which tracks politicians’ deleted tweets. “Nancy boy” is a derogatory term used to describe an effeminate man. Graham periodically has been the target of similar rhetoric and questions about his sexuality.

Washington - Many jail and prison inmates will pay much less for interstate phone calls under a long-awaited policy shift that a divided Federal Communications Commission approved Friday. The new price caps are a big victory for FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn of South Carolina, (Snip) Over the objections of groups such as the Idaho Sheriffs’ Association, the FCC set a top rate of 25 cents a minute for collect calls and 21 cents a minute for prepaid calls. Current rates can be roughly four times higher. The commission also directed that rates be “cost-based,” which rules out

Ending a war is a good thing. Killing civilians a bad thing. Deliberately targeting civilians is murder, and is never morally licit, even in pursuit of a good thing such as ending a war. The tens of thousands of Japanese non-combatants we killed 68 years ago this week with two nuclear bombs were not “collateral damage” of military strikes. They were the intended targets. We hoped that mass murder would bring the Japanese emperor to surrender. It worked, and American and Japanese soldiers’ lives were probably saved by it —

National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden extended his 15 minutes of fame Wednesday, as headlines tied his saga to President Barack Obama’s decision to cancel a planned summit meeting in Moscow next month with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But analysts said the talk of Snowden’s role in the cancellation obscured a more basic reality: The U.S.-Russia relationship is now so frosty that it didn’t appear the two presidents would actually accomplish enough to merit such a high-profile meeting. After four years, the much-vaunted reset in U.S.-Russian relations has devolved into a chilly standoff over issues like the Kremlin’s support for Syria
