Atlanta school shooting:
14-year-old shot in head

CBS News, by Staff

Authorities say a 14-year-old has been wounded in a shooting at an Atlanta middle school and a suspect has been taken into custody. Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos says the wounded student has been taken "alert, conscious and breathing" to Grady Hospital. He says the suspect has been tentatively identified as a student and all other students at the school are safe. Campos says the teen was shot outside of the school building. Atlanta Fire Cpt. Marian McDaniel says the teen was shot in the head. McDaniel says a teacher suffered minor cuts and bruises, but was treated on the scene about 2 miles south of downtown. Stephen Alford, a spokesman for Atlanta Public Schools, confirmed that the suspect in the shooting was another student, but did not say whether that student attended Price Middle Schoo, reports CBS Atlanta.

Glad the student is alert and conscious. Such awful people in this world.

Unfortunate incident, just as all the drunk driving deaths are.
The press doesn´t seem to put those in the news all day, every day, or push for more laws against drunk driving or push to ban assault cars.
The Obama press doesn´t fool me. If banning cars saves just one life, it is worth it. s/

Knew nothing about the South Side until I saw the crowd in the school parking lot.

The shooter a gang member? Likely.

This is making me think of the girl who got killed recently. The one who sang at the inauguration.

That´s pretty much off the front page -- after the call for gun control that it prompted -- and I think that´s a real story for the media to follow up on. But they´re already ignoring it.

(per initial accounts) Here was a girl who had a complete family, a loving home, a good school record, talent and friends. She´s walking home with girls from her volley ball team and they duck in a doorway to get out of the rain. A male jumps a fence to get to them, pulls out a gun and starts shooting. It just doesn´t add up as something random. They were clearly, specifically targeted. THAT´s a news story that should be tracked. Where´d it go?

If the writer was trying to not tell the race of these perp/victims, he/she should never have used the first names of the witnesses. Deduction: The witnesses are black, the victim is black, the perp is black, the district is black and the school is black. Not so much the tax-payers.

Major Propaganda Alert!!! CBS completely distorts the event... Never mention an armed off duty cop on cmapus disarmed him right after the 1st shot!!!!

The victim was shot in the neck & is fine...
He was shot in the playground, not just outside the bldg.

This must have been written by the WH Office of Propaganda.

It isn´t redneck ´gun culture´

There is one question that the pious critics of America´s so-called gun culture cannot answer. If mass school shootings like that in Connecticut really are a product of the apparently mad Second Amendment, of the fact that guns are widely available in the US, then why did such shootings only take off in the late 1970s and early 1980s? . . .

All 17 Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have called on Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) to end the “partisan” investigation into the Benghazi attack “and begin focusing instead on conducting responsible oversight to implement constructive reforms.” The Dems, led by ranking member Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), charged that the probe “has been characterized by wild and unsubstantiated political accusations that turn out to be completely inaccurate.” They proceeded to outline those instances in the five-page letter. “Continuing this reckless pattern of launching wholly unfounded accusations on national television — and racking up more and more Pinocchios in the process —

After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. Perry is trying to erase the memory of his disastrous 2012 GOP presidential campaign which included “brain-farts” and “oops” debate moments with his folksy, charming, and uniquely American manner. Curious about Perry’s comeback strategy, I asked Texan and GOP presidential media guru, Mark McKinnon and he said,

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

In an address to the House on Wednesday, Alabama Representative Mo Brooks read aloud a letter sent to him by Dr. Marlin Gill of Decatur. The letter holds nothing back while detailing the excessive costs and regulations that Dr. Gill calls Obamacare’s “war against doctors.” Here is the full text of the letter, courtesy of Rep. Brooks’ office: Dear Congressman Brooks, As a practicing family physician, I plead for help against what I can best characterize as Washington’s war against doctors. Las Vegas - Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the 2016 presidential race, courting him and his intimates and starting talks on fundraising strategy. Concerned that the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal has damaged New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s political standing and alarmed by the steady rise of Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), prominent donors, conservative leaders and longtime operatives say they consider Bush the GOP’s brightest hope to win back the White House.

The past couple of weeks have marked a turning point in American ugliness as the mob has turned its full fury on first lady Michelle Obama. From criticism of her trip to China to a recent “tell-all” by former White House assistant press secretary Reid Cherlin in the New Republic about Obama’s allegedly tyrannical behavior, the gloves have been removed. As described, she was a perfectionist — super-attentive to detail and laser-focused on advance planning. And this is bad because? Worse, according to a former (anonymous) staffer, there was no barometer for meeting Obama’s high standards. “The first lady having

A startling rift appeared Tuesday on the Supreme Court as the three female Justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills. The Justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook. That playbook was laid out in a

Please, try not to let what I’m about to tell you destroy your faith in the integrity of the national Democratic Party. Right now, a crime wave is sweeping the nation, and everyone in this out-of-control mob has a D after their names, even if most of the media are loath to report it. If you are a low-information voter, a Globe subscriber, say, you have been told endlessly that the root of all evil in American politics is the Tea Party, better known in your moonbat media as “teabaggers.” Oddly, however, the hacks rounded up over the last few days, well,

Only "mere scraps of data documented" Barack Obama´s mother´s "days in Seattle," writes Obama biographer David Maraniss in his 2012 Barack Obama: The Story. Incidentally, Maraniss was telling the truth: Ann´s "days in Seattle" weren´t mentioned in Dreams from my Father and were only vaguely implied in Maraniss´s lengthy 2008 article. And it appears that the only "scraps" of evidence of Obama´s mother´s time in Seattle during 1961-1962 was a listing in a Seattle Polk directory and a University of Washington (UW) transcript. And it appears that the only "mere scraps" of evidence of baby Barack´s time in Seattle are
