Rubio’s amnesty: A path to
oblivion for the GOP

Daily Caller, by Ann Coulter

Original Article

Posted By:jackson, 1/31/2013 8:59:03 AM

Apart from finding out that Barack Obama did far worse in his re-election than nearly any other incumbent who won re-election, the only thing that perked me up after Nov. 6 was coming across a Time magazine published after the 2004 election, when George W. Bush won a second term. In the mirror image of all the 2012 post-election analyses, the Democrats were said to be finished, out of ideas, hopelessly unpopular. It’s like watching MSNBC, with the word “Democrats” replaced with “Republicans.” Democrats had thrown everything they had into beating Bush, crushing the Howard Dean wing

And tell me again, why is it necessary to bestow American citizenship on "people who are seeking a better life"? If we were to rely on self-deportation by the use of IRS punishment of employers who hire illegals, that would be a huge first step. No automatic citizenship to those born in the US, another great step.

With the residue, give ´em work permits, if you wish. But citizenship? I´m a Missouri resident who commutes to Illinois to work, but is there some magicel impulse I feel to become an Illinois citizen? No.

Perhaps, just perhaps, if our political masters had to live like we do and not like the aristocrats of old that they believe they are, they would see how unchecked immigration, primarily ILLEGAL, has destroyed OUR America, not theirs, natch!

Before they self-elevated to near sainthood and omniscience, we kept our borders relatively well. Thanks to the mistake from Hyannisport, Fat Ted, we reversed the immigration policies of earlier that worked and allowed if not invited the un-washed ILLEGALS USERS from Mexico.

For those of us who are first or second generation born Americans of European immigrants -are we obsessed with the immigration laws that affect our parents or granparents former fellow citizens in the home country?

And I´ll go ahed and make a blanket and sweepng statement (and I have lived on the Texas/Mexico border and grew up in South Florida) - most Heespanics from Mexico, Cental and South America come here for the freebies or low skill work opportunities - not to become Americans.

Ann Coulter is not doing us a good service by tearing up Rubio. He, Rubio, is at this point just attempting to find a solution to the problem of illegal immigration. There is no bill to sign. Is Ann just doing some early intervention for her favorite, Chris Christie? Why do Republicans do this to each other, which is to kill of the good guys before there is even something to criticize (a bill for example). Why couldn´t she just call him on the telephone and have a discussion with him and voice her opinion privately. Everyone wants to be noticed, I guess, and she knows how to get noticed. She isn´t helpful though by publicly impugning a Republican, who at this point has nothing to impugn.

Rubio is a good salesman, and his proposal may sound reasonable, but it falls apart when the "what ifs" rubber meets the road:

What if the border isn´t secured?
What if some liberal court overturns the welfare ban?
What if the background check turns up negative? Deportation?
What if they don´t pay the fine and the back taxes?
What if they don´t meet the Green Card requirements? Mass Waivers? Mass deportations?
What if?
What if?

A non-solution or a dangerous "solution" to a major problem, whether privately held or stated in public is still the same.

SEAL the borders first, then come talk to us later. Bammy won´t deal? TeeEss, the answer is NO! Nothing until then.

There is no reason to confer a special path to citizenship on the 11 to 20 million illegal aliens who are here now. Rubio is an inexperienced US Senator and the Republicans should think twice before following him off a cliff and committing long-term political suicide.

Vicente Fox, former President of Mexico during the G.W. Bush era used to advise all the time, that the vast majority of Mexicans who live and work illegally are proud of being Mexicans, just want to be able to stay here indefinitely, to work here with dignity, and be able to travel to and from the USA as they wish. Most Mexican illegal aliens would be happy to accept such a conditional immigration status if it was offered.

Then if they individually wished to go on to permanent residence (a green card) in the future, they could individually qualify for an immigrant visa and apply for permanent residence just as all legal immigrants must do. Then after five years as a permanent resident, if they wished, they could individually apply for naturalized US citizenship.

Obama does not want any debate on the ramifications of granting US citizenship to untold millions of illegal aliens, because he and the liberal Democrats recognize that about 80% of those aliens who would gain US voting rights would be liberal Democrat voters. With that many new voters, the Democrats could send the Republicans into long-term political oblivion. The Republicans would have to be crazy to go along with Obama´s plan.

WASHINGTON -- Inevitably, considering the absence of a clear Republican frontrunner for the 2016 presidential election, the name of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush of the family dynasty has been rushed to the fore. On his record in office and his soft-spoken personal appeal, he would seem a natural to go to the head of a list of only moderately impressive wannabes. But the immediate question is: Do American voters, after a double dose of Bushes, want another one? The fact is that memories of the two George Bush presidencies now set few GOP hearts aflutter. The first George, elected to

Marco Rubio is smack in the middle of the current polls for the 2016 presidential primary. But he may be the early frontrunner when it comes to offering a realistic conservative agenda for reforms that address the economic challenges of modern America. And whether or not he pulls the trigger on a White House run, the U.S. senator from Florida is already helping to refashion the GOP once again into the Party of Ideas. California Republican Rep. Lerner’s apology for improperly scrutinizing and harassing conservative groups applying for non-profit status kicked off the IRS targeting scandal ten months ago, and Lerner has been stonewalling ever since (famously trying to invoke the Fifth Amendment the last time she testified but failing because she made a statement attesting to her innocence first). Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012.
