Trusting Your Own Government (or Not)

| Earlier this month, Geraldo Rivera asked a caller: "How could you not trust your own government?" Putting aside big and little episodes of untrustworthy government in the history of this country like the Trail of Tears, the internment of Americans of Japanese descent, Kent State, Waco, Fast and Furious, and the Benghazi Coverup, Rivera implies the burden of proof lies with the skeptical citizen when it comes to trust. But his question only diverts our attention. The issue isn´t the relative peace in the body politic at this instant. The question Geraldo asks

Comments: I know I have never been so distrustful of our government during my lifetime. It´s so very unsettling. Barack Hussein 0bama is one of the most evil, corrupt men ever to reside in the White House. This country will rue the day he was allowed to destroy all we hold dear. He´s well on his way. He makes FDR, Nixon and Clinton look like pikers.

It is not some future government I fear. It is THIS one, and I know I am not alone. This administration has an agenda that is counter to everything this country stands for.
As for Geraldo, I can´t stomach him. He´s too busy drinking the kool aid to see what´s going on right in front of him.

My question to Jerry Rivers is "How can you automatically assume that any government, composed of human beings with all their flaws, all their psychological imperfections, all their short comings, is looking out for the best interests of it´s citizens?" Of all the institutions of man, "government" is the one of which you should be most suspicious. It has the power and authority to steal from you, to imprison you, and even kill you. Trust my government? Hardly.

Question for Geraldo: In the history of the world, who were the biggest mass murderers?
Was it the guy at SHES? Was it the guy at Aurora, CO? Was it the shooters at Columbine? Was it the guy at Ft Hood? Was it the guys on 9/11?
Or was it someone at the top who had power and used that power to kill and murder and terrorize his own people (and others)? -Stalin -Hitler -Hussein -Pol Pot -Castro -etc?
Trust is like respect. As a leader, you are not automatically trusted by your people--you have to earn it.
THIS government has not earned one ounce of trust or respect.
The same can be said of Geraldo as a journalist.

If they´re so great how come they needed to cheat to get re-elected? They absolutely did cheat. They barely bothered to slightly hide it. But! such a silver lining!! This administration is to the Tenth Amendment what Roe v. Wade was to the right to life - so unappealing and sudden that we are startled and say Absolutely not.

The White House said Thursday that President Obama "absolutely" did not aid Jay-Z and Beyoncé in obtaining travel licenses to visit Cuba. On Wednesday night, the rapper released a song that bragged about the trip and included the lyrics "boy from the hood but got White House clearance." The lyrics also say Obama told him "chill, you gonna get me impeached." But on Thursday, White House press secretary Jay Carney said dismissively "it´s a song." "I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury, because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel and the White House had nothing to do it

If you, or your workplace, are still using Windows XP, it’s time to move on. Microsoft will officially end support for the 2001-vintage platform on April 8, 2014, just shy of a year from now. That means no more service packs, no more updates and, most importantly, no more security patches. Windows users generally receive periodic updates from Microsoft via its Windows Update service. These fixes often patch irregular behavior in the operating system. More importantly, they plug vital flaws in the OS´s security, preventing hackers and exploiters from running roughshod over private PCs.

Global PC shipments fell by 13.9 percent in the first quarter of 2013, and according to analyst firm IDC , Windows 8 could very well be the reason. On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that 76.3 million PC units shipped during the most recent financial period, marking the biggest decline since the IDC began publishing quarterly numbers 19 years ago. “The reaction to Windows 8 is real,” Jay Chou, an IDC analyst, said to The Wall Street Journal. Increased demand for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have also played a role in this decline,

Controversial gun legislation cleared a key Senate hurdle Thursday, as lawmakers voted 68-31 to start debate on the package which includes expanded background checks and new penalties for gun trafficking. Senate Democrats, joined by a few Republicans, were able to overcome an attempted filibuster by more than a dozen senators opposed to the current bill. Those senators could still slow-walk the debate, but the Senate will ultimately begin votes on amendments -- one of which is considered crucial to winning support for a final vote.

Superstar rapper Jay-Z released a new song Wednesday night addressing the recent controversy around his trip last month to Cuba with wife Beyonce, blasting politicians who have questioned whether it was appropriate for the pair to visit the communist nation. In the song, titled "Open Letter," Jay-Z jokes that he "turned Havana [in]to Atlanta" and claims President Obama told him "chill, you gonna get me impeached." Jay-Z´s song tees off on those questioning his travel plans, at one point asking politicians, "Wanna give me jail time and a fine? Fine, let me commit a real crime."

Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) tried a “stop the filibuster” campaign against Republicans in the upper chamber determined to stop gun-control legislation. The three liberal House members gathered signatures from 47 other lawmakers on the letter sent to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Mike Lee (R-Utah) to “respectfully request that you exercise restraint from engaging in filibusters on these important pieces of legislation.” The filibuster, they maintain, “was neither intended nor used historically to prevent the Senate from working its will on matters supported

Frustrated gun control proponents are determined to pass stricter gun laws, but they increasingly turn to graphic depictions of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting to push forward their agenda. “I walked the halls where these unspeakable acts took place,” Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday during a gun control speech. “I saw the dried blood on the walls. I saw the horrific crime scene photos.” It appears that Holder believes that the acts themselves are "unspeakable" but not the gory details of the aftermath. Neither does Vice President Joe Biden, who implemented a graphic approach while making

For decades, members of the left have insisted that the right is fighting a war on science. But when it comes to the issues of abortion and homosexuality, it is the left that fights a consistent and ridiculous war with reality. The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded Monday that implementing the Affordable Care Act has been more complicated and frustrating than the Obama administration expected, largely due to Republicans who have opposed the law´s state-based exchanges and Medicaid expansion. "The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"
